i wanted to capture an image of the west facade of York Minster, even with a 10mm wide angle lens it was a challenge to capture the subject given the space constraints,
i have learned today that there has been consultation re the removal of the tree which is in the right foreground, which have resulted in the decision to retain the tree.

This cow seems to be saying to me, "I've had plenty of this lush grass, but if you have grain to offer, I might consider it." The cows are accustomed to thinking that a parked vehicle on the ranch suggests that some feed may be offered. But in a wet year like this one, little or no supplementary feed is required for the free-ranging herd.

The two women at the offering table, each holding a pile of banknotes in their hands, stare at the huge statue of the Bodhisattva Guanyin (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guanyin), perhaps secretly praying that their offerings will not be unfulfilled. Behind them, some women kneel around the incense burner and touch it, perhaps as a ritual to pray for good fortune and dispel disasters. Another woman tries to throw a coin onto the incense burner, and it is said that if the coin does not fall, the wish will be granted.

Matsuo Bashō- 松尾 芭蕉.
はすいけや おらでそのまま たままつり
In 1688 when Bashō visited one of his disciples, 下里知足(Shimosato Chisoku) in 鳴海(Narumi), 名古屋市(Nagoya-shi). On the day of Bashō's visit, they held 玉祭（魂祭）(tama matsuri), festival – of – spirits, which is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor the departed (deceased) spirits of one’s ancestors. Cut lotus flowers were among the offerings placed on the “spirit shelf” (tama dana) for this festival.
Bashō's haiku implies that lotus flowers blooming in a small pond of his disciple’s are the very offerings as they are, even if they aren’t cut and offered on the “spirit shelf”

I've not done one of these selective color monochrome photos in a while but have always liked them so here is a simple little offering.
Providence and Worcester's Rhode Island based local PR-3 is switching in the compact Valley Falls yard before heading down the main destined for Cranston with one load for Spaulding Brick and a big cut of scrap for the Port of Providence.
The home framing up the scene at left sits on aptly named Railroad Street affording a front tow view of PW 2006, an EMD GP38-2 built new for the then only 7 yr newly independent road in Feb. 1980.

On October 12, the day of the Virgin of Pilar, people parade throughout the center of Zaragoza in regional Aragonese costumes, although also from other parts of Spain and the world. All of them participate by bringing their bouquet of flowers to weave the mantle of the Virgin of Pilar, which for this occasion is taken outside.
El 12 de octubre, día de la Virgen del Pilar, Por todo el centro de Zaragoza se desfila con los trajes regionales Aragoneses , aunque tambíen de otras partes de España y del mundo. Todos ellos, participan llevando su ramo de flores para tejer el manto de la Virgen del Pilar, que para ésta ocasión es sacada al exterior.
