pieces of camphor a put into the fire as an offering.

Seen at a coastal cemetery, Co. Mayo, Ireland...

There was a chipmunk coming onto the deck at my friends cottage, and we thought we would try to tempt it with some tasty fruit. Either it wasn’t a temptation or the chipmunk suspicious of free gifts because the offering was not accepted.

Two phalaenopsis orchid flowers that appear to be offering gifts to each other.

This tree on a mountaintop in Utah looks smashed and broken. There had been a fire here sometime in the past and it may have fell victim to the flames. It seems rather unscathed, however, and may simply have been torn apart by winds and time.

Monte Lagazuoi Piccolo, seen from the parking. Views from the top was really great :)

Monte Lagazuoi Piccolo is a peak located in the Dolomites with a height of 2,778 m above sea level. You can take the cable car from Passo Falzarego up to Lagazuoi and in a you will reach there the mountain hut Rifugio Lagazuoi, with the vewing terrace offering a spectacular view over an array of mountains towards the south and west. From the Rifugio Lagazuoi there is an easy path to the great viewpoint at the top of Piccolo Lagazuoi, where there is a cross that celebrates the victims of the World War I. Here you can admire some of the highest and most stunning Dolomite mountains: Tofana di Rozes, Cinque Torri, Marmolada, Piz Boe and Mount Civetta.

Monte Lagazuoi Piccolo oglądane z parkingu. Widoki z góry były naprawdę wspaniałe :)

Monte Lagazuoi Piccolo to szczyt leżący w Dolomitach o wysokości 2778 m n.p.m.

Someone had placed some offering flowers against a couple of the trees.

Spending time in the garden over the past weeks and months, I find myself collecting all manner of things to bring indoors and photograph. As the garden is full of birds and full of snails too ... well there are always snail shells hidden in unexpected corners! Cleaned and sorted ... a few here in a scallop shell!

Status of one of the six female disciples kneeling in front of the much bigger status of Buddha Shakyamuni statue at Ngong Ping Lantau Island in Hong Kong. This disciple is offering Buddha the peaches of immortality.

TRACES OF INDIA

This disciple is wearing a bindi in the middle of her forehead, which is an Indian decoration. Her arm and wrist bracelets look Indian, and the fabric looking her arms may be an interpretation of the sari.

PEACHES OF IMMORTALITY

In the origin story of Monkey, this mischievous magical being who turned up in Chinese heaven just before the feast of the Immortal Peaches, a long awaited event as the peaches only ripened once every 3000 years. The theme of Monkey's life is that things always go wrong for him, and he caused havoc in the process of escaping. and of course he ate a peach because it looked so good. He already had magical powers, but this caused him to become immortal.

I read a book with this and other stories in my childhood and loved Monkey, Pigsy and Tripitaka. Later I discovered the Japanese TV series and watched only a couple of them. This reminds me to hunt them down to watch properly.

For centuries the ginkgo tree and leaves have been seen as a symbol of peace and hope.

Senso-Ji Buddhist Temple in Tokyo. A note about the swastika, it predates the inverted similar shape coopted by the Nazis. In Buddhism this shape is symbolizes the footprints of the Buddha and the Dharma wheel.

More light and shade from Walberswick

Decided to dust off one of my old Minolta lenses and see how it would perform on one of the modern larg(ish) sensors. I was very pleased with the results, particularly liking the bokeh if gives at F4 and am willing to sacrifice some "sharpness" for this. So, here are two offerings of some of the wild flowers on the verges today around the village. This being Wild Geranium - I think?

Thanks for the comments, faves and visits

This captivating image showcases a graceful snowy egret standing at the water's edge in Vasona Lake Park, Los Gatos. The bird's pristine white plumage creates a striking contrast against the muted greens and browns of its surroundings. With its slender neck extended and keen yellow eye alert, the egret appears poised and watchful, perhaps scanning the shallow waters for its next meal. The scene is rich with natural textures - from the bird's delicate feathers to the mix of fallen leaves, aquatic plants, and rippling water at its feet. This photograph beautifully captures the serene coexistence of wildlife within the park's diverse ecosystem, offering viewers a moment of tranquility and a glimpse into the patient hunting strategies of these elegant waders.

I've visited this tree a few times over the years, but never got the right condition to shoot it. Finally, I caught this tree at its peak color last fall.
