I'm not a fan of malls or indoor shopping centers unless the weather feels as windy, snowy, and freezing as now. Then, at least one can walk as that unknown man walks here. (And sneak in a camera.)
But so many stores seem to close as malls turn to entertainment and child play areas to survive.
fast täglich gehe ich in die Stadt . Besonders liebe ich den Weg vom Michelsberg hinunter zum Dom. Dabei kommt man an schönen Dächerformationen vorbei, so wie hier auch.
the whole city of Bamberg has been accepted

Hundreds of freight trains stranded. Thousands of passengers left with nowhere to go. This was the scene as a series of unprecedented rail blockades saw the wheels of Canada's economy screeching to a halt. But in the middle of it all, the tough town of Englehart and the Ontario Northland Railway stepped up to keep it all on track.
Here, both Canadian National and Ontario Northland EMDs are congregated under the stars at Englehart after battling the elements of Northern Ontario.

This 12th century fortress was the traditional seat of the kings of Munster for several hundred years. A tour of the rock is a must do on any trip to Ireland, as there is so much history here and so many photo opportunities. After touring the rock, be sure to take a walk down to Hore Abbey, just down the hill and across Camus road. The ruins there are also stunning and offer many views back up to the rock.
Not far from the Binding Brewery in Frankfurt am Main stands a building that clearly stands out from the rest of the buildings in the Sachsenhausen district: the Sonnenring. It is one of the buildings designed by architect Günther Balser, was built between 1969 and 1975, and is considered to be an example of brutalist architecture.
One of Iceland's stunning locations that I always look forward to visiting. The Stokksnes Peninsula with the Vestrahorne mountain in the background. Looking forward to another visit this September.
Windows of Opportunity" have been on my mind a lot. We are tentatively scheduled to take a May tour of Bryce & Zion canyons with Road Scholar in May of 2022. The COVID numbers are rising. If I were in my 40's , I would wait and say that there would be other opportunities "when life becomes more normal (safe)". I am in my mid-70's and healthy. There is still the thought in the back of my mind as to how many windows of opportunity will be in my future. We will decide as the time draws nearer.
I am reflecting, not complaining. We have weathered the pandemic well and our living situation is comfortable. I have also had many opportunities in the past to experience other places. The Irish rover in my genes still longs for a look beyond my present horizon, however, and it's a nagging feeling.
There will be one other post in this "windows of opportunity" series.
This is what happens when I try to take a shortcut home to make it in time for dinner and end up choosing the least safe route. Sammy and I almost became dinner ourselves!

The spectacular globe in the center of the Hall of Geographical Maps, with its approximately 220 cm in diameter, is the oldest large globe to survive today. The first documentary information on the globe dates back to the beginning of 1564, when from a letter sent by Giorgio Vasari to Giovanni Caccini on 29 January we learn that the latter had sent him the "appamondo" from Pisa by river. The globe was created by monk Egnazio Danti who had already worked on 30 geographical tables and, once finished, it is very likely that it was not placed in the Wardrobe Room, as it was not mentioned in the palace inventories of 1570 and 1574. Immediately placed in Palazzo Pitti where it appears present in an inventory of 1587, it passed together with the other scientific artefacts of the Uffizi Gallery, in 1775 it passed into the Museum of Ancient Instruments annexed to the Specola of Florence and only in 1958, after other vicissitudes, did it reach its original location in the Hall of Geographical Maps of Palazzo Vecchio.

Traigh Niosaboist on the Isle of Harris, looking out across the Sound of Taransay towards the peaks of Beinn Dubh, Beinn Losgaintir, and Ceann Reamhair. Catching a wave breaking in 3 places at the same time, in line with the mountains... that's as close as I got to the mark.
Sunrise at Onrusstrand - South Africa. The direction of the light might be a bit confusing to you due to an orange light on the beach shining from behind me, It is probably to protect the beach from poachers. I was a bit disappointed by its presence, but I figured, if you can't beat it join it. It was anyways too late to go somewhere else. So I tried to create some interesting effects making use of it.

I am in such a terrible mood this afternoon. My daughter has been so clingy lately. She has been enjoying her ballet lessons for the last couple of weeks but today she absolutely refused to let me go and wouldn't join her class. I am beside myself. To calm myself down, I took this photo but I'm not really happy with it. Or maybe I'm not happy with the way I handled things today.
David Hockney is a British artist. His "Joiners" series are photo collages he created by piecing together multiple photographs of the same subject taken from different angles and at different times to form a single, cohesive image.

March 2014.
I am posting a set of 2 images, with comments disabled for one of them. As you can see "Flights of Fancy" was captured on a hazy evening while "Find Rest my Wandering Spirit" was captured on a much clearer evening. I have deliberately left the distortions uncorrected for "Flights of Fancy".

In the language of flowers, ivy represents eternity. So does a circle. As we pass the longest day of the year, head into winter, and honor the return of light, I hold in my heart the wisdom of and gratitude for the cyclical nature of all things, for the turning of the wheel.
A trio of brown chinese geese (anser cygnoides) approaching the sea as if considering whether to take a dip. It was a very hot day but, despite their apparent intentions, they soon moved off down the beach. Photographed on the island of Pangkor, in Malaysia.
