Close up using my screw on macro diopter - then I attached my Raynox DCR250 to the diopter.....I didn't think it would work, but it did......used my 50mm. Slight crop too.

I must start using my Raynox more often, keep forgetting I have it.....

Thanks for looking.

Something seems to be coming loose underneath!

A very talented "mechanics" created this whimsical bathroom art :)

"You can't put in a nickel and expect a dollar tune"

Bygone "Time" machinery and rust sits unattended and unadorned in many select locations across the prairies, and with winter finally melting away in Southern Alberta, these hidden oddities are popping up once again. I don't always jump to the camera bag on arrival, preferring to commune with familiar surroundings, enjoying the privilege of having another seasons "nuts and bolts" to tighten and reassemble. A sort of visual exercise that always challenges.

These are old friends, time machines that seldom count those seconds.

Wishing Everyone a weekend of time well spent~

ODC: dynamic tension

NUT: a block, usually of metal and generally square or hexagonal, perforated with a threaded hole so that it can be screwed down on a bolt to hold together objects through which the bolt passes.

BOLT: a screw-like metal object without a point, used with a nut to fasten things together.

The Northside Beverage Company has long been out of business. I suspect this drink sits where its owner placed it all those years ago.

A re-working of my original Macro Mondays shot, so that it now exactly meets the criteria "Three"!

You have to excuse my partner over there; he's a little off his rocker:)

Happy Trails!

This image was taken last year when we visited the transport museum in Lucerne, Switzerland. This is a small part of a life size AC Cobra made of scrap metal parts.

A rusty iron beam, with some remains of the blue paint that once covered the whole thing. What was it holding together and what was it's purpose? Here's beauty and a hidden history, sometimes I'd wish objects could speak.

When the one24thscale team finally gets around to publishing our coffee table book, one24thscale Road Trips, we will need a preface to talk about the secrets of our success.

Of course, we shall share stories of our humble beginnings, making mediocre musicians look and sound like rock stars and transforming amateur actors into glamorous Hollywood stars. We will tell tales of all the noble sacrifices we made to make yammering, bobble-headed reporters and talk show hosts look like practitioners of a noble medium instead of being the priests of the fiendish boob-tube cult started by one, Philo T Farnsworth.

However, we would be remiss if we were to ignore the importance of the little things, like making sure our heads are screwed on tight when we start to work our magic.

What is your favorite one24thscale photo of all time? Chime in below!

What images would you like to see in a potential coffee table book? Perhaps, you might like to see something we haven't done, yet?

We ask out of curiosity and because "the ask" circles back to the starting point of this post.

Have a terrific holiday season!

This used to attach a gate post to the wall, but that's long gone.

However, I thought it would do for the 365 Treasure Hunt "Nuts and Bolts" … OK there is only 1 nut and 1 bolt, but it's close enough :))

Last week when I stopped to photograph the train bridge that crosses Interstate 40 in western Putnam County, I also took a couple of shots of the pinned connection that I was standing right next to. Being a Structural Engineer, this is just some of the coolest stuff anywhere!! This particular bridge connection is a pinned type that restricts movement in the vertical and the horizontal direction but allows rotation. This is a view from underneath the actual bridge where you can see the entire pinned connection. Cool, huh?!?

This was three bracketed photos that I combined in Photomatix to create this HDR. Further tweaks were made in PS.

By the way, did I mention that I love bridges...and this is the coolest thing ever?!?

If you are doing that little DIY job then you need to make sure the nuts and bolts match up!!

Our Daily Challenge ~ Match Up ....

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all.

"Meccano gives boys the secrets of the world's wonderful engineering structures." (Frank Hornby - inventor of meccano sets)

As a child I was extremely envious of my brother's matchbox cars, lego and meccano sets. When I saw this giant ferris wheel constructed out of meccano, it grabbed my attention.

Apologies for the impromptu absence the last few days ... was stuck in the spokes of a wheel that just kept turning!

I remember my mother used to make a spicy nibble called "Nuts and Bolts" to have with Xmas drinks made from Nutrigrain cereal (Kelloggs), salted nuts and spices. I didn't have any Nutrigrain but I did have my husband's jar of bolts and some brazil nuts.

Nibbles, anyone?
