No nuts were harmed in the making of this image.

The reason life works at all,

is that not everyone in your tribe

is nuts on the same day : )

I don't know what creature this is... 😃😆😆

For Macro Mondays

If there's a question about the size, I have pictures of measurements.

An eastern grey squirrel eating an acorn in the backyard Garry oak tree. Saanich, Vancouver Island, BC.

During the autumn and winter months, the eastern grey squirrel’s diet consists mainly of nuts and seeds. Throughout the year, tree squirrels store large quantities of seeds and nuts, especially acorns to see them through the winter months.

Tree squirrels are one of the most important animals for helping oaks spread, because they store acorns in the ground, helping to maintain and regenerate second-growth oak forests.

For the Crazy Tuesday challenge: Goes together like -- Nuts and Bolts.

Happy Crazy Tuesday!

Can,t wait for the Nuts to Fall.

On my way to work I spotted this view. I didn't buy any fuel, but I did get some nuts at the convenience store (not shown) behind me.

Is the cat now cats about nuts or nuts about cats???

Why to lie on a bed of roses? Wuschel prefers a bed of well dried walnuts!

By the way: The nuts lie in the boiler room for drying. Sunshine + boiler room + that incredible fur = SWEAT alarm!!!

I will need to explain this one as none of this looks like a number nine and neither is there nine items in the photo.

I got into computers quite a few years ago just for fun and learnt a bit of COBOL/Machine code programming and how to use them. So for this theme I had the idea of representing the number nine in a binary way.

For this I didn't really want to photograph writing on a piece of paper and after a while I came up with the idea of showing the binary 1's and 0's using nuts.

As a basic explanation computers understand only 1's and 0's, on and off. The more of these that are grouped together the more powerful the computer. There are 8 nuts in the photo and each nut represents a bit. The whole setup represents a byte.

Starting from the very right the value of the bit is 1. If the bit is turned on then this is added to the whole value of the byte. The next one to the left would be a value of 2. The one to the left of that is a value of 4. Each bit has a value of double the one to the right of it. So the value of bits in a byte are from the left - 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 and 1.

In the photo the nuts that are facing the camera are representing a 0 and the ones turned sideways are representing 1.

So from the left 128 = 0, 64 = 0, 32 = 0, 16 = 0, 8 = 1, 4 = 0, 2 = 0 and 1 = 1. So here 8 plus 1 is equal to 9.

I used the smallest nuts that would fit in the photo and the whole setup is 7cm across.

I did do a version with an extra nut in the frame just in case this is not deemed valid.

Converted to Black and White as there was no colour in the photo anyway.

I couldn't resist and used f/9 as the aperture.

When there's food around this crafty squirrel will find a way to eat it . I spotted this one out of our bedroom window two doors away.

The young squirrel is having some nuts for breakfast.

Yesterday the people of Melbourne were allowed back into shops, restauants and other businessess, in a so called covid-safe manner. Of course they went nuts! So I will stay away until the pent up demand has reduced a bit. Besides it is lovely Spring weather now so I prefer these types of Gum nuts -(Corymbia ficifolia) Baby scarlet variety!! Found at Royal Botanic Gardens - Cranbourne.

There are several parks in Łódź and squirrels live in all of them. They also live in all possible places in the city, where they can find some trees to live in and oaks to find food. BUT the squirrels in this particular park, Park im. księcia Józefa Poniatowskiego w Łodzi, are absolutely used to the fact that nuts grow on people. They follow people, check our bags, looking for food, they come very close to check if we have something for them :-) they are unbelievably cute :-) Those who know this prak, perfectly know the cute squirrels :-)

A quick peek inside our Red Squirrel box. This native species is endangered there in the UK, being driven out by the much larger American Grey. These are a few enclaves left and we are blessed that we have a small and recovering population. Why recovering? The greys carry a virus that devastates squirrel numbers. Here we are just building them up again after a serious outbreak.

Keep safe everyone.
