TROPPO SOLE PER LA VALLE.
La vallata, famosa per i suoi prati e i boschi di fondovalle, è sconosciuta a gran parte dei turisti amanti della montagna laddove la sequenza ininterrotta di cime si fonde con il cielo oramai prossimo all’Austria e all’Europa. Si apprezza un fascino mitteleuropeo osservando i profili delle Alpi Giulie scintillare a levante, per poi sfumare verso i colossi ghiacciati dei Tauri a nord e alle più note Dolomiti schierate a sud. Uno spettacolo tanto ampio e sorprendente che non molti hanno avuto la fortuna di apprezzare. Tutto a qualche chilometro dal cuore del Cadore, dalla trafficata strada che unisce Santo Stefano alla vivace e frequentata Sappada; a una manciata di minuti dal Comelico e dalla via per la vicinissima Val Pusteria, ad un passo dalla verde Carnia. Un mondo intero di montagne, sorprendentemente condensate nei loro ambienti caratteristici, spunta di poco a lato del Piave, che proprio qui nasce e inizia la tormentata corsa verso il Mare Adriatico.

TOO SUNNY FOR THE VALLEY.
The valley, famous for its meadows and woods at the bottom of the valley, is unknown to most mountain-loving tourists where the uninterrupted sequence of peaks merges with the sky now close to Austria and Europe. A Central European charm is appreciated by observing the profiles of the Julian Alps glittering to the east, and then fading towards the frozen giants of the Tauri to the north and the more famous Dolomites lined up to the south. A show so large and surprising that not many have had the good fortune to appreciate. All a few kilometers from the heart of Cadore, from the busy road that connects Santo Stefano to the lively and busy Sappada; a handful of minutes from Comelico and from the road to the nearby Val Pusteria, a stone's throw from the green Carnia. A whole world of mountains, surprisingly condensed into their characteristic environments, emerges just beside the Piave, which is born right here and begins its tormented race towards the Adriatic Sea.

Bushfires are a widespread and regular occurrence that have significantly shaped the landscape over millennia. The predominant eucalyptus forests have evolved to thrive on bushfire. However, fires also cause significant property damage and loss of both human and animal life.
Indigenous Australians used to use fire to clear grasslands for hunting and European settlers have also had to adapt to using fire to enhance agriculture and forest management since the 19th century. Controlled burns, using Indigenous knowledge, are being used in many parts of the country to reduce the risk of out-of-control fires.
The land on the above photograph was seriously burnt several year ago, and fire restrictions are part of everyday life in many parts of Australia.

Taken in the local park, these tiny planted flowers just opened; small Iris? They were a beautiful deep blue and yellow and one could not miss seeing them.

You may find that her ring fits very loosely on her fingers.
Secure with an adhesive dot. :)
I know her hair is supposed to be "Brunette on Raven"...but it sure looks all raven to me. That is NOT a complaint...lol.

My ''Birdie'' .....no, I'm not talking about golf :-).
Today this youngster had a little accident and flew against the window of our terrace and was unconscious, because of the impact of his collision. My husband scooped up the patient with this shell and I tried and managed to revive the birdie with some drops of water... It spoilt his hairdo though.
The recovery took a few minutes and then, hey presto, off it went........ back to his mum and dad ....
Hope they were happy to be reunited with their offspring.
Note: A "Birdie" is the term for scoring 1-under par on any individual golf hole. ;-)
