*Note the stealthy pelican gliding over water at the center of the photo. His wings are fully spread. He appears to be black, probably due to a lack of sun rays on his body.

Edward Elgar and his bicycle. Hereford Cathedral.

The composer lived in the town from 1904 to 1911 when he was at the height of his popularity. In many ways it's ironic that this sculpture stands in the grounds of an Anglican Cathedral - Elgar was a Roman Catholic and his choral work, "The Dream of Gerontius" was based on a Roman Catholic text and caused some disquiet in the Anglican establishment.

This shows Sand Beach in Acadia National Park, Maine on the same morning as the previous image that shows the wreck of the schooner. (image M1A1555) Please also visit: acadiamagic.com.

Note the conflict and clash of the 20th century in a 19th century setting. Pizza Huts are forever, but there may not be a lot of folks doing one hour photo processing anymore. The actual "Capital C" City of London is only about a mile square. The rest are the duchies and boroughs of places like Kensington and Chelsea that make up Metropolitan London.

turns out i'm pretty hopeless at 365 projects!

but my boyfriend says he still loves me anyway.

(to be fair i have been taking a picture each day, they were just totally uninspiring so i didn't upload.)

Local real estate agents mail these out on a regular basis (in hopes you will phone them when you list your house, lol). They come in handy!

Weekly Theme Challenge... PAPER

Note the hairs on the head and thorax and the condensation. Mid morning on a more humid day than normal in the last month of the dry season.

Note the Big Dipper at left and the pointer stars aligned to Polaris (North Star - near center). This ultra wide angle field of view is 170 degrees.

This time lapse ran from 3 to 4 AM (MDT).

Thanks to Frans Janssens for the id.

Un géant de 4 mm ! Juvénile. Le peu de marques sur le corps m'avaient fait douter de son identité.

A solitary blossom of wild garlic (Cipura paludosa) graces the lawn by the entrance portal to the National Theater's Sala Martins Pena.

Note: Careful Honey, their praises won't save you.

Note the glimpse of the radiators on the right.

a bad scan of an okay drawing.

I'm sorry I wasn't around either. It would have been great to see them. They got to my store just after I had left and they came by my house when I was at the grocery. It would been great to see them as it's been a couple weeks now.

I'm actually believing that no one has ever even accidentally hit that in the past 50 years. Not even one of the Kennedys! Maybe Teddy Roosevelt was the last to knock into it.

This is a comment on the galleries 'kiss the pain away' and 'show us a smile, then', which I compiled from among some of your brilliant and interesting photos over the past couple of days.

The x-ray is from 2010.

(I'll catch up with recent comments and uploads some time soon.)
