notebook cover (motyves from Kazuko Aoki)

Repurposed clean, brown, paper grocery bags are used for the cover of this small, super deluxe version of my notebooks. Great for your purse, as party favors, or to use as a journal on your road trip this summer. It measures 5 inches high by 3 inches wide when closed. It contains 10 papers which create 20 pages. The papers for writing include graph paper, newsprint, yellow and white notebook paper, and practice writing paper. Each notebook is machine stitched with white thread.

The cover is rubber stamped with the words "road trip" and lined with beautiful repurposed wall paper. The writing paper pages are sandwiched with a page from a vintage cookbook and a map, creating visual interest and reflecting the road trip theme.

I've kept a notebook for years, jotting down ideas and designs. I finally filled up my latest. It took almost 5 years.

If my apartment was on fire, this is what I would probably grab.

Homemade notebook

Four times a year, at the end of each quarter, the notebooks are collected and graded. Of course I want to see everthing --- class notes, vocabulary sheets, cultural info, verb info, tape recorded practice sheets --- everthing completed and in the specified order. Now is that asking too much?

It takes a while to grade the notebooks, but it is worth the time and effort, and I feel good knowing that, when the students leave me, they have a great "resource of information" to use in future Spanish classes.

This notebook is made from a old book covers and includes differend kinds of papers and couple of books pages. Little library pocket on the back cover.

It's a piece of a new notebook.

The bright wire rolls like a porpoise

in and out of the calm blue sea

of the cover, or perhaps like a sleeper

twisting in and out of his dreams,

for it could hold a record of dreams

if you wanted to buy it for that

though it seems to be meant for

more serious work,

with its college-ruled lines and its cover

that states in emphatic white letters,

5 SUBJECT NOTEBOOK.

It seems a part of growing old is no longer

to have five subjects,

each demanding an equal share of attention,

set apart by brown cardboard dividers,

but instead to stand in a drugstore

and hang on to one subject

a little too long, like this notebook

you weigh in your hands,

passing your fingers over its surfaces

as if it were some kind of wonder.

This is how the folio should (and will) look when closed.

The only problem with the current beta is that when loaded with pens you can see the indentations of the pens on the front cover. This will be fixed in Beta 3.

I spent a while last night making notebooks. I'm very pleased with how they turned out...crafting gives you such a feeling of accomplishment, does it not?

This is my favorite notebook. I remember I was working in the Smokeshop, a part of Shelby's, the gas station I worked at in college, and I was cutting pictures out of my Wizard magazines. Using scotch tape, I laid out my selections, taped them down and then created a protective layer of tape. It looks really cool with all the overlapping lines from the edges of the tape. And then I took the notebook with me to a comedy show in St. Louis and afterward got Dave Attell and Lewis Black's signatures on it. I should do something similar on a new notebook just for the nostalgia..

Since moving to Vancouver, I renewed my love of reading and writing. With that, I decided to pick up a nice notebook within which I could store all my random ideas for stories. I was careful to pick one I would love, spending most of one morning wandering a few stores in search of something.

It had to inspire me, to press me to write more and write better. While I had no idea what kind of mere notebook would accomplish so great a task, I knew that once I saw it, I'd know!

And so it was. In a wonderful shop that sold loads of books on art and craft, I saw a series of lined notebooks with passages from famous authors printed into the covers. They came in a variety of colours, but the Edgar Allan Poe one caught my attention as soon as I saw it. A beautiful shade of purple with golden lettering, I knew this was the book I was going to fill with wondrous tales.

The cover has a fragment from the manuscript of Poe's first book, Tamerlane and Other Poems

little notebook to collect Istanbul memories with a handful of tips, ideas and inspirations :) blogged here

I keep a notebook at work of things I'm working on and to keep it organized I draw icons in the top corners of the pages to be able to tell what's on a page at a glance.

This one is for "Unit Test" stuff.

A pile of my "work-diaries", dating from '97 to today.

I've kept a sketchbook for jotting down my thoughts, ideas, designs, doodles and notes since I started my costumier-studies way back when, and I still carry a sketchbook with me where ever I go.
