Tauranga Bay on the walkway back from the Seal Colony, near Westport. Day two of our four day trip away over Arthur's Pass and back through the Lewis Pass. February 9, 2012. South Island, New Zealand.
Cape Foulwind is a prominent headland on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, overlooking the Tasman Sea. It is located ten kilometres west of the town of Westport. It was previously named Rocky Cape by Abel Tasman, the first European to visit it, in 1642. The present name was bestowed upon this promontory by English explorer James Cook in 1770 after his ship Endeavour was blown quite a distance offshore from this point.
Tauranga Bay at Cape Foulwind is home to a fur seal breeding colony, which is accessible by a well-maintained walking track.
Cape Foulwind reputedly hosts New Zealand's closest tavern/pub to Australia, the Star Tavern.
A large cement works is located close to the cape, taking advantage of the abundant limestone, sand and clay in the immediate area, plus nearby coal mines.
In the lee of the cape, toward the Buller River mouth lies Carters Beach, claimed to be the only safe swimming beach on the West Coast of the South Island.

Bio:
ZaDOS stands for "Zetarecruiter and Disc Operating System." After GLaDOS was "killed" by Chell (OMG IT CAN'T DIE IT WAS NEVER ALIVE IT'S A ROBOT), the facility wasn't kept in order. Because of this, the scientists built this bug-like robot to help to keep the facility clean and plant-less. Because of its size, it ultimately failed the job. When GLaDOS was woken up around 114 years later (Used teh calculator :D), ZaDOS was put in charge of fixing test chambers, and was then given a custom portal gun so it could reach areas that it couldn't fly to.
Derp facts:
Its design is slightly based off of GLaDOS. Its antennas allow it to hear, and are able to be turned on and off. The gun fires magenta and cyan portals. ZaDOS's restart button is between the antennae underneath the headset. Its voice is the exact same as the voice of normal turrets, and it likes to say "Target acquired" when it senses the presence of a test subject with its antennae. The pupils of its eyes are always lighter in color than the rest of its eyes. It is also able to imitate any noise it hears. If ZaDOS is shut down, its eyes fade to black.
EDIT some time in 2013: Dayum, I'm reading this bio years later, and I'm thinking "How on Irk did I pour out that bio?" I'm too proud of it to alter it, so I'll make a note down here: ZaDOS is a mix of Portal and Invader ZIM. It used to be only the antennae that were ZIM-ish, but today, in the amazing year of 2013, he's an Irken invader! *sob* So proud! ;w;

This seems an unusual entry in my uncle Bill's book during WWII, to those who would not realise there were shortages of silk stockings, and so he wrote a reminder in case he could source some for his sister Bron.
I'm leaving tomorrow for Madison, WI. I think some people call it the "Paris of central Wisconsin". I'm presenting at this year's Canoecopia. I love the event and I'm so glad I can contribute this year. The problem is that with all that's going on, I really didn't have any time to fix my presentation slides that suddenly crashed and wasn't recoverable. I had to rebuild it, which was so time consuming, but even more stressful.
Note to self:
Don't use verithin, stick to paint. The lamp washes out colors in real life and the picture is more true to life. Get a daylight lamp. Take more breaks so you don't eyestrain and go crosseyed and not notice the mess that you are making on her face. Pencil brows and lashes are Uggo. I really feel like this was a step backwards for me.
