Thank you very much everyone for the views, favs and comments! Have a great day.
Possibility of aurora tonight but it didn't show as far South as Northern Ireland by 11pm.
I had a Plan B just in case, so photographed this rather impressive Church by light of the full Moon instead.
Quite isolated with no street lights around.
Nikon 12-24mm G ED lens at f/2.8 and 24mm on Canon 1dx2
Ieper was totally destroyed in WWI. After the war the Belgians rebuilt the city , stone for stone.
It was against the wishes of the UK, who wanted the destroyed Ieper as an everlasting monument against German militarism.
Two thousand years have almost gone by
Since Jesus was nailed on a cross to die
His teachings were done by words and deed
And thousand would listen, and thousands would heed.
The words of His wisdom, and that of God
As many miles on foot would he trod
Let Peace be on earth, would be His command,
And nothing less than this should we demand!
On the Eve of His birth let us all be blessed
And thank our God as we see the end of our quest.
Let us all stand together, as brother and friend
And pledge our love, and respect to a world without end.
Together we stand, in joy and in sorrow
and praise the birth of Jesus with the light of tomorrow!
The Damrak is an avenue and partially filled in canal at the centre of Amsterdam, running between Amsterdam Centraal in the north and Dam Square in the south. It is the main street where people arriving at the station enter the centre of Amsterdam.
Take the tram uphill to get to the Monumento al Pipila in the evening. Recommend arriving early and grabbing a a beer and some esquite or chicharrones while you wait for blue hour to hit. Bring a jacket.
Image was taken from Cypress Mountain Lookout in West Vancouver, BC.
