A January Waxing crescent moon setting over the US Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. It was very cloudy Sunday evening, but it was too nice of an alignment opportunity to pass up. While the moon was behind clouds most of the way down, it was clear for the important minute over the memorial. You never know!
I used the PhotoPills smartphone app (it's for sun, moon, milky way, etc. photography location planning) to figure out where to position myself for moon set. While my phone's GPS didn't settle completely down, it settled close enough for me to execute the alignment.
