The Kabuki-za was originally opened by a Meiji era journalist, Fukuchi Gen'ichirō. Fukuchi wrote kabuki dramas in which Ichikawa Danjūrō IX and others starred; upon Danjūrō's death in 1903, Fukuchi retired from the management of the theatre. The theatre was then taken over by the Shochiku Corporation in 1914; the theatre is exclusively run by the company since.
Kabuki (歌舞伎 kabuki) is a classical Japanese dance-drama. Kabuki theatre is known for the stylization of its drama and for the elaborate make-up worn by some of its performers.
The individual kanji characters, from left to right, mean sing (歌), dance (舞), and skill (伎). Kabuki is therefore sometimes translated as "the art of singing and dancing".

CORONA SUMMER
This summer was really tough. We are not sure of what coming next and taking too much precaution. I was never like that before. I'm a spontaneous person who always lives a simple life far away from light. It was hard for me on several sides.
This series represents my state of mind during this awkward period. I'm not here to show the beauty of our country because we know very well it's beautiful as much as any country in the world. I’m not going to discuss any subject on these pictures. This series will be different from all my precedent works.

The almost century-old Tokyo Station building opened Oct. 1 after a 5-year restoration project. A ceremony to mark completion of the structure, also called Marunouchi station building, and its grand reopening was canceled due to a typhoon.
Some 400,000 bricks were used in the project for the distinctive European-style building, which was originally completed in 1914. It was heavily damaged by U.S. bombing in World War II.
There's something special about driving at night in the countryside - the fact that the only part of the world you see is the part your car reveals; the quiet and solitude; the feeling of freedom and speed as trees are revealed and disappear with equal abruptness ...

A deserted Poole High street just after midnight. Hand held night shot on a very blustery night so just about managed to keep the camera still.
