I was testing the front-facing iPhone camera and realized that the only person in front of this camera is me. I don't know why I was surprised. The camera is really low resolution and is not meant for photos. I am not sure if I am going to use it for anything, really. Slightly accusing look is due to the general dislike of being photographed. Of course, in this case no one was forcing me, so I have no idea whom I am mad at. Also it is the morning after New Year's celebration and I need an aspirin!

Anyhow...I thought over-processed selfies of questionable quality are cliche enough...so are New Year resolutions!. HCS and Happy 2011, you guys!

One more is in the comments. Oh, and I saw Cliche Saturday Scavenger Hunt categories only after I took this shot. I think I'll add it to "out of your comfort zone" thread. Because selfies are definitely NOT my comfort zone.

Woody Guthrie Nails Down New Year's Resolutions!

Exactly 81 years ago today, American folk legend Woody Guthrie (1912 – 1967) wrote in his journal a list of 33 tasks he would dedicate himself to in 1943.

At age 31, he was in the prime of his life, with a wife (Mary, although they had been divorced a few years earlier) and three kids (Gwendolyn, Sue, and Bill). He also had a good deal of life experience, having survived a couple of home fires, and the early death of his mom from Huntington Disease. He also navigated the Dust Bowl and made it out to California.

All of this and more resulted in a darn good list…

Yuki joins Makoto on the sofa. A conversation of questions ensues.

Makoto: “What’s that paper?”

Yuki: “Are you ready for this list of new year’s resolutions?”

Makoto: “You made a list of resolutions? Are you feeling okay?”

Yuki: “You want to hear them?”

Makoto: “What have you got?”

Yuki: “You know how slacking around all the time is bad?”

Makoto: “Are you saying the slacking is going to stop?”

Yuki: “You know how bad junk food is?”

Makoto: “No more junk food?!? Who ARE you?”

Yuki: “You know how regular exercise makes you healthier?”

Makoto: “Are you really going to give up slacking and junk food and start exercising?”

Yuki: “What do you mean? Don’t you know this is a list of YOUR resolutions for next year?”

Created for the We’re Here reflection on New Year Resolutions today.

I am not very good usually with New Year Resolutions but that hasn't stopped me coming up with a few which I will try to keep. I wonder what your resolutions or goals for 2015 are.

This weeks theme is "Out with the old".

Did you make any new years resolutions? I never do, so this is more symbolic for resolutions.

The only resolution I made this year was to take it a little easier with photography. I finished a 365 project on new years eve. It was alot of work but mostly pleasurable.

Shot this photo yesterday and processed and uploaded today because I was too tired yesterday. That would not have happened last year.

.... in the shops, at least ;)

Semaine 01 : Résolution du Nouvel An.

Pour 2021, je choisis ce qui est bon pour moi.

My new year's resolutions are many, but they mostly revolve around getting the old bod in better working order.

A bit of a luxury of time at the moment, being on holidays, so was able to spend it playing in PSE10.

Oh No, it's that time of year again. I've eaten too much and the pounds have crept on. That only means one thing, the diet has started!

2015 was a lot a first step for me and as much as I found them slightly nerve racking, I am glad I took them. This year I am going to take more bigger steps and when I spotted this, I think it just summed up my frame of mind!

Happy new year to you all and all the best for 2016!!!!

Resolution 1 - To eat fruit.

Here's the deal.. I don't eat fruit. At all. So my first New Year's resolution would be to start eating fruit.. Strawberry ice cream counts as fruit, right? :)

Hi Folks,

I have been off flickr for sometime due to loads of work and other things. How have you all been? The festival fever is catching on and so is the nip in the air. And soon enough, there will be Diwali lights all around, and then Christmas decorations. And before we know, it will be time for New Year resolutions!

Have you given thought to your New Year Resolution? What is it that will matter to YOU in the coming year? Pls share... :)

My resolution is simple... participate in more Macro Mondays! GAME ON.

Macro Mondays - "This New Year"

This New Year I'd like to spend more time doing quality things. I seem to spend most of my time rushing around but not actually slowing down to enjoy the things I'm doing.

I'm also going to make much more of an effort to participate in Macro Mondays. In 2011 I got out of the habit of making time to work on my Macro Monday submission and I intend to rectify that this year!

This little clock is actually a pendant and the clock face is one side of a die (dice). There's another view of the same pendant in comments. I hung this necklace on my Christmas tree to get a better angle to photograph it, hence all the greenery, and light bokeh from the fairy lights.

At the beginning of the year, I made a resolution to visit places in and around my local area, that I had never been to before.

I allude to this earlier in my stream. I spend a lot of time driving around for work, and dropping kids off to clubs, and I see loads of interesting villages or hidden footpaths, and I swear to myself that I will explore there someday.

Well I never did do it. Until now.

2008 has been my year for 'walking down that path, because I always wondered where it went to' or 'getting a map of our local area, studying it and pinpointing places to explore'.

I have found some amazing places. I have learnt a lot about local history. I have trespassed on private land a few times to explore WW2 sites (I like to think the owner wouldn't mind as it is my history too).

All in all I have had a great time, and this has been the only resolution I have ever kept to in my life.

I intend to carry on this resolution every year.

Sod giving up drinking or any other vice.

This is the resolution that I will stick to.

My 2014 New Year's Resolution is to face my worst fears... , Let'er Buck!

Just a bit of fun on a rainy day :)

Thanks for looking,

Running, yep, I'm slow, but game. Eating right, so-so. Stretching, yech, but okay. Weight training of any kind, no, no, no! So after reading too many articles on the importance of weight training in 2018, I'm making it a goal for 2019.

Take Aim: Resolutions

118 in 2018, #93, Staying Healthy

2025 has kicked of in 18% grey - nothing new here in the State of Denmark, where January and February typically is rain, cloudy and no sun.

2025 is also the year, where I plan to shoot with my new Fujifilm X-T5 camera to build up the muscle memory and to shoot more than usual - follow along here on Instagram and Flickr.

2025 is also the year, where I take my health to the next level. Since March last year I have been doing a 16-8 fasting, which resulted in a 12kg weight loss but I would love to take it a bit further. So I’ll top it with a daily high tempo half hour walk. Today was the first one in full rain - well, some water doesn’t kill you.

Shot with the small X-T5 camera and the XF-33 f/1.4 lens in the Acros in-camera filmsimulation. So not much editing in Capture One Pro .....

I think this sentence does a pretty good job in summarizing all possible New Year resolutions I could come up with.

Incidentally, it is a line from a great song, Crazy, from a great band, Supertramp. The whole lyrics are worth the reading, the song is well worth the listening.

Happy New Year everyone.

This weeks challenge was 'Not everyone does New Year's resolutions but hopefully we all aspire, dream or simply have personal goals. Whatever you want to call them, let's come up with one word that describes "them" for you in 2010 (whether it's to be more "organized", eat "healthier" or "travel" more) and then . . .

"in one picture illustrate your one word that describes your New Year's resolution, dream, aspiration or goal"

. . . and use that one word as your title.

My goal or plan was to eat more healthily but as always that plan is mostly still at the blueprint stage :-)

For FGR: New Year Resolution

*no dogs were hurt in the making of this photo

Samuel is Leandro and Lucas’ oldest brother. Judging from his tiny size, one would never believe he has 14 years behind him and 4 years head start on his younger brother, Elias.

In a few days time, Samuel will be off with his brothers for a well-earned holiday to the coast. I say well earned because he is one of the numerous, underprivileged Brazilian kids, who although very young and small, is found roaming the streets of the big cities, trying to earn a few extra dollars for the family income by shining people’s shoes, washing car windows or selling sweets at the traffic lights.

Child labour is one of the areas CARF strives to eliminate in at-risk children attended by our Street Migration Prevention Programme, due to this often leading to much more negative consequences for the child than the labour itself.

Pressures from home for more money will often lead to bad school attendance and low self-esteem, and can often result in these children staying away from home for longer periods on the streets, just to escape the escalating problems that arise as a consequence.

The dangers of becoming involved with the more experienced gangs of street children are inevitable, leading on to drug abuse, violence, crime and eventually incarceration in juvenile detention centers because of petty thefts, or even worse crimes like homicide.

One of the ways we counterbalance this problem is by providing a small support grant to the child, alleviating the pressures from home and guaranteeing the child’s participation both at school and in the socio-cultural, educational activities provided by our programme.

For only USD$40 – 50 each month, Samuel and other impoverished kids like him can be rescued from a destiny on the streets.

Why not make a different and rather special New Year’s Resolution this year, by supporting one of our Youth Capacity Building Scholarships, helping us to eliminate child labour and removing the likes of Samuel from the streets.

To all of you in 2011 ♥ Happy New Years Day
