A young Black-crowned Night Heron was pretty flighty, moving back and forth across the pond.

Waiting for my date. I'm so early.

This jumping spider took me FOREVER to photograph. He was so skittish!

think over it ...but it doesn't make it less

This is a scaleless snake. In nature, the genetic anomaly towards scaleless does happen, but those snakes tend not to last long in the wild because they are not protected against parasites, sharp things on the ground, etc..I was quite nervous photographing this animal because it was small, fast, non-cooperative, and SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS! Lets just say if it had gotten away from me, I would of been in deep $H!T

A Palm Warbler on high alert zooms to a bent reed and (seemingly at least) nervously taps it's toe and bobs it's tail.

You better stop, look around,

Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes.

Here comes your nineteenth nervous breakdown.

My shutter disturbed this Hare and seconds later, it was gone.

This shot was taken while walking a small rock ridge outside of Cody Wyoming, inspecting every crevasse for rattlesnakes I was already on a very high level of situational awareness knowing that the rattlesnake doesn’t always rattle and has an average strike range of half its body length. To properly inspect my surroundings placed my legs, and sometimes my face in potentially dangerous situations.

The good news is that time and effort has proven that this Hoosier couldn’t find a rattlesnake in the wild if his life depended on it!

As I stepped towards an opening that looked like a perfect viper den, something caught my mind’s eye off my right shoulder. I turned quickly to see this large brown eye looking at me from the grassy area maybe 25 feet away. I immediately jumped as if electrically shocked and instinctively started swallowing to move my heart back into its proper location. Based on its size and color, I immediately though it was a coyote.

I grabbed my other camera from my hip and capture this shot. Only once focus was achieved did I learn that it was in fact a White-tailed Jackrabbit! Even though there was an old, sweaty guy panting from fright and pointing a camera lens directly at it, it apparently was comfortable with its camouflage and stayed frozen in place. I had forgotten just how big a Jackrabbit (funny…it’s not a rabbit, it’s a hare) can get as this one is easily a ten pounder. I then captured this image.

Two and a half hours of climbing over rocks, pulling cactus needles from my legs (yes, this idiot was in shorts) and walking with sand in my shoes to get a picture of a *#@+<* bunny.

Photo taken on 02 September, 2024…44 years to the day that I shipped out to Navy boot camp. Even tough I was only able to photograph a hare, it was defiantly a better day than I had back in 1980!

Many thanks as always to all those kind enough to comment and fave my pics, or even stop by for a look. Although I am unable to always respond, your feedback is very much appreciated.

Many places in the Eastern Front were victims to catastrophic violence and war crimes, Rzhev of the Kalinin Oblast not least among them.

Among some troops, guilt and well-founded anxiety must have festered, until the eradication of the Wehrmacht in the area in March 1943. What was left was subsequently garrisoned by the iron rule of the USSR.

My recreations of soldiers' gear from this dramatic time have a new addition: the Autumn Oakleaf B on the right. This is the sixth iteration of the pattern (across all colorschemes, that is) that I have painted, and the first since owning a Partisan Gorka-E. My finest, without doubt. It's going away to James. The front is painted as a 'Winter Reversible Parka.'

I get a little bit nervous around you

Get a little bit stressed out

when I think about you

Get a little excited

Baby, when I think about you, yeah

Talk a little too much around you

Get a little self-conscious

When I think about you

Get a little excited

Baby, when I think about you

Yeah, when I think about you, babe

Shawn Mendes - Nervous

Blue-winged Teal hitting the highway on Horsepen Bayou

It was me, actually, that was the nervous one - watching my wife stand close to the edge of the ice while she grabbed a few shots of her own at sunset. There was a big crack behind us but the water was calm and there was no movement in the section we stood on. Even so, the thought of sliding into those icy green waters wasn't very appealing.

My son just started Pre-K and I thought he would be nervous & scared on his first day. He was so excited and actually told me, "O.K Mommy go home". Lol I think I was the nervous one.
