Actually, her name is Maggie but you get it. LOL I don't know what it was but something had her a nervous wreck and since she couldn't sit with me, she found this little corner to be nervous in. I liked the lighting. LOL

Happy New Year everyone!

Grace (we say glibly) works on nature, and can work suddenly if it pleases. But actually a deep interior revolution needs to go on and this takes time. A settling and a sort of aging of the strong new wine. We have no adequate idea of what takes place in our depths when we grow spiritually or change. Meanwhile you have had a chance to go through a lot of quick and volatile surface reactions, which are bare indications of the adjustment taking place deeper down. Let peace have time to settle and gain a firm grasp of those depths. And do not be troubled if you do not always feel settled. Time takes care of such things. And the Church with her sacraments, while doing infinitely much in your life, will not take away all anguish. On the contrary, the anguish must always be there. But it must deepen and change and become vastly more fruitful. That is the best we can hope for nowadays: a fruitful anguish instead of one that is utterly sterile and consuming. (9.12.59 HGL 393)

on a plateau where we saw the highest density of Guanaco's this one was on high alert.

This was no surprise as we had spotted 2 fresh carcasses in that area so the local Puma's had a productive night on that plateau

If this look doesn't make you nervous , I'm not sure anything would. But she is protecting babies, so keep a safe distance.

Waiting for my date. I'm so early.

A Common Yellowthroat nervously scans the scenery.

Been waiting years to get a picture of a pileated woodpecker. Finally, I found the nest of one and watched it's behavior to discover it returned every late afternoon around the same time. So, I staked out the nest and waited. Success finally! Taken alongside a busy road in Jupiter, FL.

This Great Blue Heron has been a bit of a nervous one, not allowing us to approach typically.

A young Black-crowned Night Heron was pretty flighty, moving back and forth across the pond.

Going into a black cave in the wee hours with the amplified sounds of the ocean (and a few million mozzies finding you quite intereresting) can be uhh inimidating to say the least.

Add the fact that it's a bit of an iconic location that your determined to do your best on, and you can find yourself arguing out loud with the mozzies and yourself in a cave alone in the dark.

Technically from my side of the lens I muffed this one well and truly and spent the day yesterday determined just to leave it alone and let it 'sit' while I gave it the time in my head to sort itself out.

Glad I did now - this isn't the image I was hoping for but, for my first attempt at something like this I'm happy to share the view.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do?

Two frames one for the foreground one for the well 'that bit in the distance'.

Foreground ISO800 f/7.1 10s with SmallRig lightsource set to around 3200 at full power - see madlt waving around the cave trying not to fall over, hit head or tripod.

That other bit - single frame ISO3200 f/4 8s

Both frames raw developed in DxO PhotoLab 6, stacked and blended as .tiff files in Affinity Photo 2, colour graded in Color Efex Pro 5 and tweaked in Topaz AI before finishing off back in PhotoLab.
