Managed finally to see the famous Comet, C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) this weekend.

It's a pretty spectacular sight, if you let your eyes get used to the dark, its very large and clearly visible with the naked eye :)

Managed to capture the large dust tail and amazingly also captured the thin straight ion tail, which points away from the sun :)

There's still time to see it if you get clear skies, you'll find it just underneath the bright Big Dipper constellation and it rises from near the horizon during the night.

Don't worry if you do miss it though, it'll be back around in 6000 years or so

I mighta missed this phenomenon had my starry night contacts not gotten out there and showed me what I was missing. While Comet Neowise has been viewable in the wee morning hours for a number of days, it has now moved to being viewable in the twilight darkness of the evening. So my starry night photographer buddy Jeanne and I gave it a go. I mean, it won't happen again for another 100 lifetimes. Completely knocked my socks off as we spotted it. Two old ladies dancing with joy, we both rated it as an all time heart-pounding magnificent experience. Enjoy, then, this first evening view of the Comet Neowise over our Mojave Desert.

Last night finally I caught him!

Neowise and Meteor at dawn, Steamboat Rock Washington State Park.

Frankly, there is not much to see (if we can see the comet at all), at least not for us photographic mortals and all those with untrained eyes. So I decided to look somewhere else (this, whether you believe it or not, is a bathroom scene).

My first attempt trying a little more serious astrophotography. Yikes! I took a series of 7 images, each for about 30 sec. Stacked and then processed. The comet is pretty small, and the sky is big, but I think it turned out ok. The learning continues!

Zum Glück hab ich ihn doch nochmal erwischt. Und dieses mal kann sich das Ergebnis sehen lassen.

It was hazy but I was able to capture Comet NEOWISE over the city of Richland, WA from Badger Mountain. To the left is Candy mountain (front) and Rattlesnake Mountain (back), I think.

It was actually pretty dark at around 10PM but the comet was too faint we couldn't see it by naked eyes.

Retour sur le passage de la comète NEOWISE cet été. J'adore me promener dans les champs de blé la nuit.. 😄

Last night around 3 o'clock the comet Neowise with shining night clouds.

Another take on this spetacular comet. A single image capturing a familiar constellation above Chesterton Windmill and the light pollution from Birmingham and Coventry beneath it. Judicious light painting with an LED torch to give a little definition to the windmill.

Here 2 pictures, first a Pixelshift for the foreground, then i use astrotracer for the sky.

While waiting to photograph comet C/2020 F3 NEOWISE, I took some time to test out my gear on a sunset. The hill at the centre of McLennan Park, colloquially known as Mount Trashmore, is one of the higher points within the city of Kitchener's boundaries, and is a popular spot for people to watch the sunset.

Shot using a Pentax K-x body equipped with a Pentax S-M-C/Super Takumar 300 mm F4 M42 screw mount lens. Sturdied using a Manfrotto tripod. Lens aperture unrecorded.

Now in the evening skies!
