I'm on to the mischief that elephants can get into. They love to squirt water from their trunks at unsuspecting people. Our boat was far enough away that neither we nor my camera got wet. Taken on the Chobe River.

Neither me nor Minnie like new year's eve. We will retreat to a quiet corner until this silly theater is over.

Neither, of course, just my last view of that tidal pool from two days ago, manipulated for drama. Happy Sliders Sunday!

As anticipated, 24 hours of wind, high surf and intermittent rain have washed all of this gunk out of the pool, and the water is clear again, ready to start making new abstracts for me.

“Neither a wise nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him.” - Dwight David Eisenhower

I took this the other day when the weather was a little inclement which I thought suited rail tracks.I used the Orton effect on the photo and then used the history brush in PS on the tracks to emphasise them. I could have used a filter on the sky, but found it distracted a little, so I left it alone.

“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” Hal Borland.

2020 was going to be one of the busiest years of our lives, and 12 months later we were only able to leave Ireland just before the pandemic exploded in March, with immense luck as the borders closed the day after our flight back from Portugal. On the way there were canceled trips to Holland, Spain a couple of times, Venice and Slovenia. Even when the situation improved in the summer we were not able to leave because of our jobs. However, we consider ourselves fortunate, as we have been able to take several weekend trips around the island, as well as exploring the Causeway Coastal Route in Northern Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland for two incredible weeks in late September.

Before the situation deteriorated again in the last few days and mobility was again limited, with the third lockdown that begins today, we were able to spend a day in Killaloe, a beautiful town in County Clare, bathed by Loch Dergh and the River Shannon. Despite the cold, and the constant rain, there were moments during the day when the rain stopped, and this moment at twilight was one of them. Long enough for my wife to take off her winter clothes and walk through this pier to pose magnificently in this photograph, to which I have tried to add a touch of drama accentuated by the leafless branches of the trees and the storm clouds at the bottom. Neither end, nor beginning, 2021 is a continuation of this new reality that we are living, and from this hard experience we can always become wiser.

Neither the photo of this fine looking Rignbrothers ‘SPLITER’ 1965 Mustang nor the excellent background picture were taken by me………. unless, by definition of “taken” one could say, I “took” both these picture from the internet.

In the case of the car, while I did not obtain prior permission to use, I am hopefull the web site from which I obtained this picture will not mind receiving a little ‘plug’. This is the property of THE SHOP

I wish to express my sincere ‘thanks’ to Ian Parker for giving me his permission to use his superb picture, titled, “Shadows on the playa; Racetrack Valley” as the background image for this composite. If you enjoy an array of impressive photography, I highly recommend visiting Ian’s fine gallery, Evanescent Light

If you view the web site mentioned above, you might note that I did make some minor edits to the exterior trim of the car. Again, I hope these minor edits to the paint scheme do not distress Jim and Mike Ring, the owners of Ringbrothers out of Spring Green, Wisconsin. If they do get upset, my plan is to tell them I’m secretly a Packers fan living in Chicago……….. ;)

Final note: Some may call this ‘artwork’ cheating……… I prefer to call it, pastiche.

...neither the Mayans nor the Jews nor any other nation.

Two times a year the Earth's axis is tilted neither toward nor away from the sun, resulting in a "nearly" equal amount of daylight and darkness at all latitudes. These events are referred to as equinoxes. The word equinox is derived from two Latin words - aequus (equal) and nox (night).

I took this shot two years ago, it reminded me of the September equinox. We spent a weekend at Balls, a big experimental rocket launch event in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada - the same place where Burning Man takes place. I am a night owl, but I get up before sunrise because mornings are so beautiful in the desert.

I processed a realistic, a paintery, and a balanced HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Neither Woody or I are looking forward to winter

Neither the old nor the new now keep this house warm, some windows boarded, the chimneys on this abandoned house no longer emit smoke on frosty mornings.

Neither leaning backwards or reaching forward. No past to mourn, no future to fear. Relax into the present moment-- it's a fleeting gem in the river of time.

Neither the front or the back end of today's modern Amtrak train is particularly attractive, especially along the NEC. So, today's Amtrak train 833 offered something at least sort of worth the effort. And, I'd like to know who to send the paint bill to at Amtrak? The back of this thing was an embarrassing mess. The 833 was a chartered train for the New York Knicks basketball team.

Day 289 (v 12.0) - but sleet... maybe

Neither shaken nor stirred. A bit stirred, perhaps. Enough to get out and meet the neighbours. Our 3rd earthquake in six months.

Neither my or a supermarket car park's typical fodder.

Somehow this one has got through 6 keepers since 2018, presumably some dealer types registering it to themselves given some changes within a couple of months.

OK, something like that. On this day, it was the constant rain showers, off & on all day, that put this squirrel's motto to the test!

I started "birdwatching" between showers but when the bottom fell out, surprisingly the birds and most squirrels just dealt with it.

Not sure, but this soggy squirrel reminds me of Stumpy, a squirrel we saw earlier this year who was missing half its tail. If this isn't Stumpy, then its definitely another little squirrel who probably got into some naughty mischief that backfired.

Candelaria, Texas, on the US-Mexico border.

While this abandoned house is in a remote location, there's still plenty of traffic that passes by.

In less than a mile, the road/pathway on the right will end at the Rio Grande. On the other side of the river is the Mexican village of San Antonio del Bravo. It's common knowledge (even among Border Patrol agents) that people from both sides of the border routinely cross the river to visit family, or, in the case of going from the US to Mexico, to shop or even receive health care... neither of which is possible in Candelaria.

This article explains the crossings from a local point of view.

► █░▓ NO BIKES NEITHER BOATS HERE (so far). Trying to get to the harbor via bike and pedestrian paths as much as possible to evade the already insignificant village traffic, I ran across this serene major park I did not know existed. An elderly lady walking two small dogs explained to me that the whole aria was taken down two years ago in order to build a park upon it. I was taken aback. There are obviously still decision-making people not driven by the power or profit lust. This pond is young and probably 'virgin', i.e. there are still no discarded bikes on the bottom of it.

But remember: behind the every successful Dutchman there is a discarded bike. Or two. Or more.

The village in itself is quite serene. This park is artificial "nature" but it takes an educated architect to create it like this and it adds up to the all-round quiet. I am impressed. Some cities can't (won't) afford this much.

Up until July 18th I had the longest break in publishing images and following the fellow uploads on Flickr since years. Hope that this less enthusiastic, rather sedentary period in my life is now over. I used it partly to study new software and made my first use of it. Not much, but something I had been postponing for years. A small gain but not a negligible one. My photography was not completely put aside, but I never got it to the editing stage. What I took, has yet to be selected and edited. Many boats taken just before sunset still wait to be denoised! Plus some interesting people, those few that grant me their trust and permission to publish.

THE BACKGROUND - In the morning of July 14th I drove to Sleeuwijk, the village across the river, after a long time. Had a good hour available to walk around. Started my hike from the neighbourhood edge next to A27, a few kilometres away and searched for the pathways through the village in order to avoid the local traffic. Without internet, I still made it! But when I reached the river shore at the Yacht and ferry harbour, the first hour had expired. I decided to press on and found a pathway among the blackberries shrubbery along the shore line. It was a gift from above. Beautiful small beaches, lots of ripe, perfectly clean blackberries, mighty ships sailing by, clean water, lazy peaceful cattle enjoying the shade of large trees at noon, perfect weather with some nice water and background lighting... For the first time in more than three decades that I live here have I hiked along the patch of shoreline and have almost reached the big Merwede bridge. Found the way back through the woods and reached the village starting point just short of 2,5 hours of hiking, berry picking and photographing. What a day! And a good night's sleep after it.

Lumix G90 / 12-35mm f2.8 / sooc jpeg edited in Photos 10.0, exported as 16-bit tiff so that you can enjoy the original Panasonic's jpeg ;) Well I could have exported it to *.heic format, it would have taken 25 less space of the drive and I don't see any difference, but my screen is just a non-calibrated 16" and my eyes are aging...

If neither a leaf falls from the tree nor a sparrow to the ground without the will of the Father, “am I to think that from the lips of the Holy Evangelist there should flow a superfluous word especially in the sacra historia of the word? I think not...

… “In that day the mountains shall drop down sweetness.” And, “Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened, and bud forth a savior” (Isa. 45:8). What is the import of these quotes? They are the substance of the mystery itself, a poetic expression for the mystery of the Incarnation, which is to be experienced in our hearts by faith.

By the way, I was tagged. A while ago, actually. By this wonderful photographer!: www.flickr.com/photos/36627311@N04/

So here goes:

1. I have done hardly anything but math all week long, and it felt great just to get an idea and follow through with it photographically tonight.

2. I LOVE GOD. He is my strength and my reason to live, and I would be lost without Him.

3. I am super hungry, and I never actually took anything out of the fridge when I took this picture. Now, I wish I did though. haha.

4. I made a new friend tonight! On flickr. Carson Reneau. He's really cool!

5. I am addicted to chapstick.

6. I like to sleep with my fan on, but trillions of blankets as well.

7. I collect mugs. But only crazy or offbeat ones.

8. I miss my friends who are in distant lands for college. I'm glad they're having fun and learning though.

9. My dear friend Devan and I teach 1st grade boys sunday school at my church. They're crazy, but I love 'em!

10. I still haven't given Bailey her suspenders back. OOPS. :)
