This was a reflection of a pier in the water, in Port Townsend, WA.

Neither shaken, nor stirred :-)

Can you see Stromboli on the horizon?

Nothing was going to keep this elderly gentleman from completing his bike ride, not even the icy, blowing snow.

..is neither an invention of the current situation nor limited to human beings. When I saw these trees on my hiking trip on Friday along river Else I immediately had the words of Khalil Gibran (The prophet / on marriage) in my mind :

Love one another, but make not a bond

of love:

Let it rather be a moving sea between

the shores of your souls.

Fill each other’s cup but drink not from

one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat

not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous,

but let each one of you be alone,

Even as the strings of a lute are alone

though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each

other’s keeping.

For only the hand of Life can contain

your hearts.

And stand together yet not too near

together:

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow

not in each other’s shadow.

my body and soul are part of the universal consciousness and no obnoxious mad scientist will play with them

.........................

"I want to sit at your table of wisdom,

So that not one crumb shall go to waste,

For if we keep down this pathway to destruction,

Oh will our children will suffer for our haste.

I want to drink from your cup of sorrow,

I want to bathe in your holy blood.

I want to sleep with the promise of tomorrow,

I know tomorrow may never come..."

Cup of Sorrow, Amos Lee

Neither a Cuckoo nor a Shrike, the Black-faced cuckoo-shrike (Coracina novaehollandiae) is a wary and illusive bird not given to posing for a photo. I couldn't believe my luck when I got this shot after months of trying,

The Cuckoo-shrikes is so called because their feathers have similar patterns to those of cuckoos and their beak shape resembles that of shrikes.

I was tempted by the sky. Unfortunately I did neither have a tripod nor grey filters with me to capture the motion of the turbine blades. Next time ...

I took this shot for today's Macro Mondays theme `Half way point'. I placed this tiny water droplet (on some leaves in my garden) right in the middle of the frame.

Of course, this is neither the landing of extraterrestrial spacecraft nor an exoplanet; rather, it is more accurately described as a color-enhanced infrared image.

The Maggiore Theatre, also known as the Multifunctional Events Centre (CEM), is a cultural establishment situated in Verbania.

This theatre was officially opened on June 11, 2016. The architectural design was the product of collaboration among an international team including, among others, Peter Cook, Salvador Pérez Arroyo, Bargone Associati, and Bianchini & Lusiardi Associati, with the executive phase of the project being completed by architects Giancarlo Marzorati and Fabrizio Bianchetti.

The theatre, which overlooks Lake Maggiore near the mouth of the San Bernardino, has a main hall and a second hall, which are combined into a single, multifunctional hall for up to 950 spectators. The complex also has an outdoor amphitheatre with tiered seating for 2,000 people.

It is neither an apocalyptic threat proclaiming the end of all life,

This is merely a spectacle that can regularly be seen above the Bremen steelworks when the blast furnaces are tapped.

In clear nights, all you see is a red glow, but with low-hanging clouds the effect is very dramatic.

William Carlos Williams

When I walked the dog today, the wheelbarrow was gone. There's "no ideas but in things", but things just disappear. Meanwhile I know what the quote means to me and maybe what it means to others, but still I don't know how to translate it into German. Luckily I don't need to.

The point in translation and as well in photography is to make others believe you solved an equation, like a=b-x, but neither translation nor photography is like mathematics.

Still I try hard every day.

Neither nicer posing nor uglier swallow. It was her bad hair day, the tiny feathers on her head were lifted by the wind so she looks like she has bumps on her head.

By the way, in my opinion, swallows are the most beautiful and elegant birds.

Be well and thank you for visiting.

I went on a photoshoot for a magazine this week-end and the subject of the shoot was The Big Pineapple at Bathurst which is about 15 k away from Port Alfred. So I shot and shot until I ran out of memory space - typical overkill. Neither of these shots are the one that is to be used in the magazine and I know I have posted the Big Pineapple before but I thought you might like this one above from the perspective of the field. The pineapple theme will continue for a little while .................

Although the Eastern Spinebill is sometimes called Australia’s hummingbird due to its ability to hover while gathering nectar - the diminutive Brown Honeyeater is no slouch in this department either!

Hovering behaviour actually occurs more frequently than thought, not only in terms of the range of avian species but also in its occurrence within species. Recent research found that neither the geographical distribution of bird species nor their traits (size, body mass) are a limiting factor for hovering behaviour, but that plant traits are important. Quite simply when perches at the plants are inadequate or lacking, hovering is then more appropriate or necessary

I'm neither good at naming insects nor taking photos of them but I kind of liked the way this one came out. It had very long tentacles (antenna?) and that's what I noticed first. It was larger than anything similar I've seen in the garden i.e. crickets

Neither a Cuckoo nor a Shrike, the Black-faced cuckoo-shrike (Coracina novaehollandiae) is a wary and illusive bird not given to posing for a photo. Not my best bird shot, and still a miracle in the scheme of things.

The Cuckoo-shrikes is so called because their feathers have similar patterns to those of cuckoos and their beak shape resembles that of shrikes.

We're still in National Tree week (me neither), so here are some more trees and some rocks, on the way up to Harrop Tarn above Thirlmere.

Male Baltimore Oriole working its way toward an orange half spiked on a branch (out of view) near Jamaica Beach on Galveston Island.

The White-browed Shrike-babbler (Pteruthius flaviscapis) is a small bird found in the Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia - its a beautiful bird and a target of mine for a long time - never managed to see it before till my trip few weeks ago.

Around 12-13 cm in length with a distinctive plumage and a bold white eyebrow stripe, dark crown and ear coverts, and a bright yellow or yellowish-green wing patch, the male is easy bird to identify since there are few birds like this. These birds are primarily found in montane forests, often in dense undergrowth. I sighted several in a pine forest foraging in the dark canopy and waited more than 90 mins for them to come to a spot where I can take some pictures - luckily they did and I am delighted!

These birds are active foragers, gleaning insects and other invertebrates from foliage and branches. The calls are typically high-pitched and thin, often described as a series of whistles or trills.

Shrike-babbler's are a different species altogether - neither shrikes nor babblers. Their name comes from their shrike-like bill and babbler-like behavior.

Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

Neither photograph sharp and both with camera movement. By all accounts not great photographs, but there is something in each of them that I like.

I couldn't get them both in the frame together but this guy was in hot pursuit of an osprey who had just caught a fish. It eventually forced the osprey to drop the catch and neither one got it.

Desoto Plymouth Dealership from way back, neither have been made in years and this place has been closed for a long time but the sign is still there, found in North Carolina.

Plymouth ended in 2001 and De Soto ended in 1960.

I did the customary 2AM drive for the 5AM sunrise over Picture Lake at Mount Baker. Giorgio Moroder provided the driving music.

Sadly neither the sun nor the mountain wanted to come out to play.

Luna does not understand personal space. Neither does Madison. So while Madison vegetated on the couch, Luna joined her, licking her face as she made her way to her final resting position. Sorry for the blurry photo, only one light on at the time, and I have shaky hands.

In other news, Ms. Madi has made it onto IMDB.com, (www.imdb.com/name/nm11226980/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1) We told her she damn well better thank her parents before anyone else when she wins her first Golden Globe, Emmy, Oscar, or Tony.

Anyway, snuggle with your love one this weekend, heck snuggle with them every night. B

Oryx is a genus consisting of four large antelope species. Three of them are native to arid parts of Africa, and the fourth to the Arabian Peninsula. Their fur is pale with contrasting dark markings in the face and on the legs, and their long horns are almost straight.

The East African oryx (Oryx beisa) inhabits eastern Africa, and the closely related gemsbok (Oryx gazella) inhabits southern Africa. Neither is threatened, though the former is considered Near Threatened by the IUCN.

The gemsbok is monotypic, and the East African oryx has two subspecies; East African oryx "proper" (O. b. beisa) and the fringe-eared oryx (O. b. callotis). In the past, both were considered subspecies of the gemsbok.- Wikipedia

Neither sunset I just posted are edited, I took them both from my bedroom window the other evening.

The people along the sand

All turn and look one way.

They turn their back on the land.

They look at the sea all day.

As long as it takes to pass

A ship keeps raising its hull;

The wetter ground like glass

Reflects a standing gull.

The land may vary more;

But wherever the truth may be---

The water comes ashore,

And the people look at the sea.

They cannot look out far.

They cannot look in deep.

But when was that ever a bar

To any watch they keep?
