" Please put me to bed
And turn down the light
Fold down your hands
Give me a sign
Put down your lies
Lay down next to me
Don't listen when I scream
Bury your doubts and fall asleep
Find out I was just a bad dream
Let the bed sheet soak up my tears
And watch the only way out disappear
Don't tell me why
Kiss me goodbye
For neither ever, nor never .. "

Some days we feel somewhere in between, neither here nor there. Wanting to leave familiar grounds, but hesitant of what lies ahead. All storms eventually pass and in time we find the courage we need to move on.

The last days on an Indian summer are behind us now were I live as the days draw in sooner and there is a chill in the air. The roses have thrown their last blooms for the season, yet just as they stop, my camellia sasanquas start, so I have new blooms to take pleasure in photographing and sharing with you!
As well as a camellia hedge in my rear garden, I also have a shorter hedge in my front garden that grows underneath the bay windows. There are several specimens there including a a hybrid between the warm-climate scented sasanqua and cooler-climate unscented japonica camellia. It is called "Hiryu" and as a hybrid it is neither sasanqua nor japonica, but a hiemalis.
With elegant deep rosy red blended with darker red at the edges, the "Hiryu" hiemalis as a small evergreen shrub that grows to around two metres in height with beautiful displays of flowers in autumn and early winter. It is ideal as a specimen tree on its own or in groups with other Camellias. It can be used as a hedge or screen and espalier.

My textures enhanced with JixiPix Pastello.
I had spent a couple hours working on another piece that just didn't look how it did in my mind. With no pre-thought, I put this hummingbird and peony together, along with a background I had made a while ago. Finished it up with Pastello and DONE!
Hope you like it and thanks for visiting for a closer look!

Yesterday, I saw that I was not a member of a Flickr group anymore. In short, "kicked-out". I didn't break any rules neither posted anything obscene. I think I have HQ photos (pm me if I don't have). I actually supported this group that from time to time I award photos in their photo pool. I feel a bit bad because I don't know the "why" I was out of the group. I was thinking maybe my work are not good enough? Of course I know beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but doing such act to members reduces motivation, as well as inspiration specially to those who are still learning the art.
Anyway, I took the "higher path" - the path of understanding the admin / admins. If they feel they are gods that they can choose who they want to be part of their group then be it. They don't deserve respect and support at least from me. The fact that I have high regard for their group. Maybe they forgot they were newbies once...
I am thankful that most of the groups I support are not like this group. They are groups that nurture creativity, talent and friendships... And I see beauty in their photo pools. They showcase talents from professional and amateur Flickr users. They create a dynamic "melting pot" of people all over the world from different cultures and walks of life. They give chances to newbies like me to upgrade our game and learn from their works.
Ok, enough said... JUST SHARING MY THOUGHTS 😍 I guess my real life work in community inclusion and diversity just took a bit of me today 😇 thus writing what I observe and feel about this.
Happy Wednesday y'all! We call Wednesdays "little Saturday" here in my place so enjoy 💕
Great Horned Owl in a local nature park.
While on my way to work one morning last month, I came across a doe and her speckled triplets in an ideal spot for photography. Problem? I neither had my camera nor the time to enjoy this deer family until several days later.
Knowing it was a long shot, I returned early in the morning and quietly walked around the area. Nothing. I expanded my search. Nothing. I eventually decided to try and rescue my morning's attempt at spending time in nature, by walking to a tiny nearby park I knew of.
The park was soo silent. I navigated the short meandering trial, pausing frequently, without noting any sound or sight worth investigating with a long lens.
Deciding to call the morning a bust, I was just starting to head back out when I turned my head and looked directly behind me. My jaw practically dropped open, for who was silently watching me all the while, was this beauty.
When I first spotted her, she was rather camouflaged in soft muted light. (I may upload one of the first shot's tomorrow).
She was perched on a snag overhanging a forest enshrouded pond. Once the sun broke through, it was just a matter of shifting to a spot where the tree behind her wasn't overblown in the sudden light, and waiting for her to look into the light.
While quietly spending time with her, I ended up seeing quite a lot of deer. Whoever said deer were silent?! There was a trail only they knew about down a steep embankment which they crashed through to the depression where we were; startling the owl and I each time they came.
First, it was a doe without a fawn, then a couple of does with fawns, and finally, a buck coming into his 3rd season. He silently stared at me for quite awhile from the other side of the pond edge brambles. Then, yes, he did turn and silently disappeared into the thickets behind him.
Of course, now that I was seeing the subject of my choice for the morning, I couldn't get a decent shot due to the poor light and excessive undergrowth, but by now I didn't care. I was in a magic moment, and enjoying it thoroughly...

. . or neither?
Taking a break from my Samui images, but expecting m dee and New Yorkled to complain there's no water . . I stayed with water, but looked at the shots I first took with my then, new, D300 in February, to see what I had.
In the first few days with the D300 I simply experimented with the settings to get to know the camera, with no regard for composition (as you can clearly see from the original) and some excellent mediocre and nondescript images were the result. I thought I'd see if I could rescue one.
Have a great weekend, y'all.
One wrong step and neither the future groom nor the bride will ever see the wedding day.
It 's Hangzhou city in the backdrop on a gloomy day viewed from Baoshi Mountain.
Have a great weekend ahead friends.
Hope you like it. Cheers

East Africa
Oryx is a genus consisting of four large antelope species. Three of them are native to arid parts of Africa, and the fourth to the Arabian Peninsula. Their fur is pale with contrasting dark markings in the face and on the legs, and their long horns are almost straight.
The East African oryx (Oryx beisa) inhabits eastern Africa, and the closely related gemsbok (Oryx gazella) inhabits southern Africa. Neither is threatened, though the former is considered Near Threatened by the IUCN. The gemsbok is monotypic, and the East African oryx has two subspecies; East African oryx "proper" (O. b. beisa) and the fringe-eared oryx (O. b. callotis). In the past, both were considered subspecies of the gemsbok. – Wikipedia
There are many ingredients to a reasonable photograph
Two of the most important...
Distance and light
No matter how many £$'s you spend on equipment if those two elements are not quite right then neither will be your shots
This is a prime example., great for distance., poor for light
so in conclusion:
Could have been so much better
Neither Breton, nor French, but from Saint Malo am I!"......
St Malo was considered the capital of the Corsairs although it was strongly rivalled by Granville in Normandy.
Better seen in the large size, on Black.
Mushrooms are neither plants nor animals. They constitute their own kingdom—Fungi. These include the familiar mushroom-forming species, as well as yeasts, molds, smuts and rusts.
Found this "pancake" mushroom last summer. I don't know the name, so many similar. If somebody knows the ID, please so I can tag it.
UPDATE: 🍄 Name is Boletus chrysenteron or Xerocomellus Chrysenteron

#VibrantMinimalism
Well, neither is this a bucket nor is it a real flame, and yet it's rather fiery. A fire that is best extinguished with any type of milk or cream (also plant-based), not with water. I'm also not sure if this is really minimalist, but it certainly is vibrant. A last minute decision to upload (because I wasn't sure if I should), this is the cap of a newly opened Tabasco bottle with a piece of home-dried habanero chili stuck into it – putting small things that aren't flowers into something that isn't a vase seems to be a foible of mine...
This is an in-camera focus stacking (the in-camera processed Jpg), further, but only minimally (so this is minimalist after all) processed in DXO PhotoLab 4 and Luminar AI with some detail and colour tweaks. The font used is "Blazed", you can find it on dafont.com. I'll check with your images tonight, as I have to go back to work now. Happy Macro Monday, Everyone :)
Neither the smallest nor the most inconsequential element to the image, this red boat had me following its path. Meandering about, a father and his two boys enjoy time out on Trout Lake. When they began to slowly travel toward the north end, I quickly beetled toward this sunken log.
Like arrows in my quiver, none of the previous shots of this scene, ever made it to post. However, this one combines the multiple components needed, so the log is a supporting element, framing the boater and anchoring the Fall colored trees.
Neither shaken, nor stirred :-)
Can you see Stromboli on the horizon?

"This or that!? Me or them!?."
Neither choice will be easy.
There's heartbreak for each.
However, vows were made.
So, really, there's only one road to take.

Phaeum comes from the Greek for dark-complexioned or also mourning. It's easy to understand why this wild Geranium is described specifically by that word.
But visiting the wonderful Zoo for the first time since its lockdown due to Covid-19, I didn't feel like mourning at all. And neither did our Honeybee out for some sweets. You can see that here she's not primarily collecting pollen but rather sticking her proboscis into the nether nectarous region in the heart of Geranium.
..is neither an invention of the current situation nor limited to human beings. When I saw these trees on my hiking trip on Friday along river Else I immediately had the words of Khalil Gibran (The prophet / on marriage) in my mind :
Love one another, but make not a bond
of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between
the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup but drink not from
one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat
not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous,
but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone
though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each
other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain
your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near
together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow
not in each other’s shadow.

So that not one crumb shall go to waste,
For if we keep down this pathway to destruction,

I want to sleep with the promise of tomorrow,
I know tomorrow may never come..."

Neither a Cuckoo nor a Shrike, the Black-faced cuckoo-shrike (Coracina novaehollandiae) is a wary and illusive bird not given to posing for a photo. I couldn't believe my luck when I got this shot after months of trying,
The Cuckoo-shrikes is so called because their feathers have similar patterns to those of cuckoos and their beak shape resembles that of shrikes.
