It got a fair number of views, so I decided to vignette it a little, as the bright corners were too distracting.

#3 The only thing that really remains are the memories of a thriving business. The dilapidated structures are just an annoying thorn in the surroundings...

"Of all the seasons, winter is the most conducive to the great art of dormancy. This art requires an appreciation of semi-consciousness: the beautiful and necessary prelude to sleep - a special pleasure in itself that is all too often neglected, under-valued or looked down upon." Michael Leunig

Been sorting through the depths of a shed! Turns out some moisture made it in during the storms earlier this year……..

Deep into the forests of the region of Värmland in Sweden, lies this well-hidden car cemetery. Hundreds of cars from the 40s, 50s, and 60s are spread out in the area, some of them covered with moss, with trees growing through them, stacked on top of each other or placed side by side. While it has not been confirmed, many of the cars are said to have belonged to the US military who left the autos after World War II.

A very fit looking tall ship passing by the resting place of the much neglected SS United States, which sits rusting at an inaccessible pier for lack of a buyer. They should get with the program and turn this into an as-is tourist attraction, like the fabulously decrepit Alcatraz and the equally decaying Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly, which is one of the city's top tourist draws despite being little more than a pile of crumbling stone. There is great romance to ruins; I have a vivid memory of being in the unheated Eastern State on a fairly warm winter day when the fog inside was thick enough to lend a film noire atmosphere to the place. However, with ships and rust, it's never that easy. Check the comments below by Chris Elliott.

This photo was taken on Oct 7th, 2005. I neglected it at my first round selection last year. Today when I reviewed my archive photos, I feel it is better than most my uploaded night images, it is well balanced and in nice reflection. I did not bring my tripod at that day, so I had to put my camera on the fence near the river.

Here is another shot taken on the same day.
