Knees in the quiet shallows, the egret turns to the light with a gleam of salt on its feathers and a crab crosswise in its ink-black bill; ripples write soft rings around its stilts as marsh plants frame the moment, and the midday water holds the hush of triumph-swift strike, clean capture, patience paid in prey.
A tight cluster of golden mushrooms emerges from the forest floor, glowing softly against the dark background. Their warm tones and perfect arrangement reveal the quiet beauty of autumn fungi.
resting in a world of fluffy feathers, but always keeping an eye out for dangers around. One of natures most odd but beautiful birds in the world.

A White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) with a freshly caught insect clutched in its beak — a quick snack in between its darting forays across open ground. These agile little birds are in near-constant motion, pausing only briefly as they snatch up insects with precision. This image captures one of those fleeting moments of success in the wagtail’s tireless search for food.

Hanging delicately from its spent chrysalis, this Queen Butterfly (Danaus gilippus) marks the final act of metamorphosis — a silent transformation from crawler to flyer. The fragile tension of rebirth is still visible in the curled wings and clinging silk. Within moments, it will leave behind its former self and drift into the wind as if it never crawled.
Among the unforgiving spikes of a dried thistle, two red firebugs find a moment of connection. The soft nest-like fibers contrast sharply with the harsh geometry of their world. Captured with natural backlight, this close-up reveals an unexpected tenderness in nature’s most armored places.

This vibrant duck with its multicolored bill and sky-blue eye-ring isn’t your everyday paddler. Likely a juvenile or color-variant of the Black-bellied Whistling Duck, it struts with confidence between stone and leaf like it owns the jungle. A quirky ambassador of the Yucatán wetlands, blending curiosity, color, and attitude in one feathered package.
The tailed jay (Graphium agamemnon) is a predominantly green and black tropical butterfly that belongs to the swallowtail family.

Today I found a bee at play,
and somehow it brightened up my day.
Resting softly on a golden flower,
enjoying its own quiet hour.
I stopped and smiled at what I saw,
a tiny worker without a flaw.
Gathering treasures, light and sweet,
from petals resting at its feet.
And while I watched beneath the sun,
I wondered if our days were one.
Was I happy because of the bee,
or did the bee feel the same as me?
Perhaps we both enjoyed the light,
the golden bloom, the moment right.

The patient huntress (Praying mantis)
A close encounter with one of the most fascinating predators in the microcosm. The praying mantis owes its name to the typical posture of its front legs, which resembles a praying position. In reality, this pose hides a lethal tension: it is ready to spring in a fraction of a second to capture its prey. It is incredible to observe how its camouflage allows it to blend perfectly with the surrounding vegetation.
There is something hypnotic about the gaze of a mantis. Motionless as a statue, elegant and yet disturbing at the same time. In this shot, I tried to capture not only the insect, but also the personality that shines through its calculated movements. A small queen of her vast green kingdom.

La cacciatrice paziente (La mantide religiosa)
Un incontro ravvicinato con uno dei predatori più affascinanti del microcosmo. La Mantide Religiosa deve il suo nome alla tipica postura delle zampe anteriori, che ricorda un atteggiamento di preghiera. In realtà, questa posa nasconde una tensione letale: è pronta a scattare in frazioni di secondo per catturare la preda. È incredibile osservare come il suo mimetismo le permetta di fondersi perfettamente con la vegetazione circostante.
C'è qualcosa di ipnotico nello sguardo di una mantide. Immobile come una statua, elegante e allo stesso tempo inquietante. In questo scatto ho cercato di catturare non solo l'insetto, ma la personalità che traspare dai suoi movimenti calcolati. Una piccola regina del suo vasto regno verde.

Two slender mushrooms rising through wet grass after a cool October rain. The droplets were perfect little mirrors reflecting the first light.
Shot with my Nikon Z6II and Nikkor Z 105mm f/2.8 Macro. Focus stacked in Helicon Focus and polished in Lightroom. ISO was sky-high, but Lightroom 14’s Denoise handled it beautifully.
