There is a moody beauty in flowers that are just past their peak. Not every flower has to be perfect—sometimes the wilted edges make the story sweeter. The contrast against the dark background makes them look like a painting.

White roses traditionally symbolise purity and remembrance. Garden varieties like this are often hybrids bred for layered petals and fragrance rather than long vase life, which is why they can look beautifully “weathered” on the bush.

The photography style mimics "Chiaroscuro," an art technique that uses strong contrasts between light and dark, often seen in Renaissance still-life paintings.

Photos taken with my Sony camera during our visit to the Dolomites region in Italy in September 2024. The itinerary included Pinzolo, Passo Tonale, Ponte di Legno, Lake Garda, Riva del Garda, Lake Tenno, Trento, Nardis Waterfalls, Madonna di Campiglio, Lake Toblino, Sissi Gardens, Merano, Bolzano, the Brenta Dolomites, and Molveno. Without a doubt, it's a destination worth exploring!
