A small alpine lake is found in the Bear Park meadow of Mount Rainier National Park. It is partly ringed with subalpine fir trees which reflect to create this graphic pattern.

Ebey Island is southeast of Everett, WA. It is boarded by the Snohomish River, Ebey & Steamboat Sough. It is little inhabited with mostly farm and pasture land and, of course, some wetlands.

It is a difficult place to photograph due to the lack of parking and road shoulders. None the less I grab an image there once in a while. This was taken on a foggy day at the small Washington State wildlife refuge.

In the early winter before the Mountain Loop Highway is closed for the season I enjoy watching the seasons change.

A small piece of frosty driftwood rests between river rocks along the Stillaguamish River near the closed Gold Basin Campgrounds.

Ancient Lakes is a popular desert hiking area in Eastern Washington near Quincy. It is dotted with a number of ponds and lakes fed by various irrigation activities and massive basalt cliffs called coulees. One feature this area is noted for is a large waterfall flowing into Ancient Lake which is quite rare in the desert!

My friend David and I traveled there to hike and photograph in a new area but mostly to find some warm and sunny weather. Leaving Seattle early in the morning with the rain coming down we headed across the pass only to find clouds persisting. Fortunately, they burned off quickly and we enjoyed temperatures near 80 degrees. Almost a little too hot for our first hot weather hike of the year.

This granite boulder is sitting in the Carbon River and the bright sun light create this interesting pattern as it flows by. You can tell it is early in the season because the water is still crystal clear, as the temperatures rise the Carbon Glacier which is just upstream will begin to grind rocks which will make the river very "milky" in color. For now the clear water is a joy to watch.

The alpine meadows in Mount Rainier National Park are perfect places to observe wilderness, natural environments that are not altered by man. Each year as the snow melts, usually mid-July, I look forward to spending time observing this happening.

In this image Fawn and Avalanche Lilies bloom on a slope below the Paradise River. They seem to lineup in perfect rows!

The Painted Grove Trail is the iconic location in the park. It is a short 1/4 mile about half the way on a boardwalk which snakes through the colorful hills.

We were there in the early afternoon on a bright sunny day with only a few puffy clouds in the sky. Not the best for photography but we got a few images and enjoyed the wonderful landscape.

Photos taken with my Sony camera during our visit to the Dolomites region in Italy in September 2024. The itinerary included Pinzolo, Passo Tonale, Ponte di Legno, Lake Garda, Riva del Garda, Lake Tenno, Trento, Nardis Waterfalls, Madonna di Campiglio, Lake Toblino, Sissi Gardens, Merano, Bolzano, the Brenta Dolomites, and Molveno. Without a doubt, it's a destination worth exploring!
