These Western Sumac leaves were in full autumn color. They were on the grounds of the Mazama Store where we had breakfast before the backpack.
Ancient Lakes is a popular desert hiking area in Eastern Washington near Quincy. It is dotted with a number of ponds and lakes fed by various irrigation activities and massive basalt cliffs called coulees. One feature this area is noted for is a large waterfall flowing into Ancient Lake which is quite rare in the desert!
My friend David and I traveled there to hike and photograph in a new area but mostly to find some warm and sunny weather. Leaving Seattle early in the morning with the rain coming down we headed across the pass only to find clouds persisting. Fortunately, they burned off quickly and we enjoyed temperatures near 80 degrees. Almost a little too hot for our first hot weather hike of the year.

I’d gone to Ala Moana center for coffee before any of the shops opened, and the sunlight emerging after a morning rain was irresistible to me once camera was in hand.
This one best in large:
Captured in the heart of Chiang Mai’s mountains, this serene hilltop lies within a Hmong community, where tradition and nature coexist harmoniously. The lush greenery, framed by a dramatic sky, tells a story of unspoiled landscapes and cultural richness. The scattered trees and rustic shelters reflect the simplicity of rural life, while the light and shadow interplay creates an evocative and peaceful atmosphere, a treasure for any landscape enthusiast.

I spent several days at the Log Cabin Resort on Lake Crescent in the Olympic National Park for a nice spring vacation. The weather was perfect for hiking, relaxing and photography!
Near the lodge was a pier where you could rent kayaks but it also presented this lovely reflection pattern of reeds and new spring leaves of maple tree.

As the temperatures rise in the old growth forests of Mount Rainier National Park ferns, moss and false lily of the valley burst forth forming a brilliant green carpet on the forest floor.
These were growing up from the ground at the base of a steep wet wall.
