Continuing my Southern Arizona Adventure 2024 with a stop in Tubac, AZ. This is stage 3 of 9. This is a place I plan on revisiting.
This is a Hudson Hornet displayed outside the Old Presidio Traders store on Tubac Road.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudson_Hornet
The Hudson Hornet is a full-size car manufactured by Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan from 1951 until 1954, when Nash-Kelvinator and Hudson merged to form American Motors Corporation (AMC). Hudson automobiles continued to be marketed under the Hudson brand name through the 1957 model year.
The first-generation Hudson Hornets featured a functional "step-down" design with dropped floor pan and a chassis with a lower center of gravity than contemporary vehicles that helped the car handle well — an advantage for racing.[1] The Hornet's lower and sleeker look was accentuated by streamlined styling, sometimes called "ponton" styling.
Hudson was the first automobile manufacturer to get involved in stock car racing.[12] The Hornet "dominated stock car racing in the early-1950s, when stock car racers actually raced stock cars."[7]

Nash Point Lighthouse
Position 51° 24'.00 N 03° 33'.05 W
Nash Lighthouse was designed by James Walker, the Engineer-in-Chief to Trinity House, in 1832 to mark the sandbanks off the point at the entrance to the Bristol Channel. The decision to build it followed a public outcry after the passenger steamer FROLIC was wrecked with heavy loss of life in 1830.
Two circular towers were built each with massive walls and a stone gallery. The eastern, or high lighthouse being 37 metres high and the western or low lighthouse 25 metres high. Placed 302 metres apart they provided leading lights to indicate safe passage past the sandbanks. The high light was painted with black and white stripes and the low light was white. In those days both towers showed a fixed light which was either red or white depending on the direction from which a vessel approached. The red sector marked the Nash Sands.
The low light was abandoned early this century and the high light was modernised and painted white. In place of the fixed light a new first order catadioptric lens was installed which gives a white and red group flashing.
Nash is one of those lighthouses scattered around our coast that has no claim to fame. For over 160 years its light has done its job as a sign to mariners to keep them clear of danger, its sole distinction is the discovery in 1977 of the tuberous thistle (Cirsium Tuberosum), a rare plant, which was found growing around the lighthouse.

Nash Point is a headland and beach in the Monknash Coast of the Vale of Glamorgan in south Wales, about a mile from Marcross.
It is a popular location for ramblers and hiking along the cliffs to Llantwit Major beach.
In 1962, the empty tanker BP Driver (formerly the BP Explorer, which had been rebuilt following a disaster in the River Severn) was pushed on the rocks and was abandoned by its crew of five, all of whom survived.
Despite the assistance given by Nash Point lighthouse, the ship's captain was unable to bring her in safely to land.
At low tide, remains of the wreck can be found about 200m north of the beach access by the light house.

The unique 1950 Frazer Nash 'Foursome' Cabriolet ("Fritz Fiedler's Dream Car") was built on a lengthened and widened Mille Miglia/Le Mans Replica/Targa Florio chassis. The styling is by Fritz Fiedler, chief engineer at BMW in the 1930s. After the war he was employed by Frazer Nash and Bristol to help with production of BMW-based engines (the designs were taken as war reparations). Later he returned to Germany and became chairman of BMW AG.
Great weather this afternoon in South Wales for a visit to this stunning headland in the heart of the Glamorgan Heritage coast.
This is the second in a series of images reproduced from my family archives. This image was taken by my maternal grandfather of his Nash touring car just after it arrived in San Antonio, Texas from Belvidere, Illinois. The year was 1923 and my mother, who endured the trip, was 3 years old.

Isn't he beautiful? My friend Richard's wife, Rose, passed away last month. They were married for 60 some years. He adopted Nash, his new companion. This is just what he needs. I think it's a win win for both of them. They are going to be best buddies.
