Mario Gianluigi Puzo (1920 - 1999) was an American author, screenwriter and journalist. He is known for his crime novels about the Italian-American mafia, now notably The Godfather (1969), which he later co-adapted into a trilogy directed by Francis Ford Coppola. He received the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the first film in 1972 and Part II in 1974.

I just finished this and am ordering the next one in the series from my library. It is very light reading.......this book has one of those characters you immediately like!

Another book from the Christian Heroes Then and Now series. Nate and four others gave their lives while attempting to reach a stone age tribe known for their violence. The tribe was later reached and evangelized by Nate's sister.
What especially impressed me about this book was the pervasive feeling of sadness, in combination with the hopeful end, starting with a ride on a nighttrain.

another personal account of surviving the holocaust. My grandaughter picked this up at a bookstore and read it first, and then loaned it to me.
I didn't finish this book. I read enough to figure out who Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe were.

Being interested in the 2nd World War I picked out several which I now have to find time to read..
