Thank you for supporting me, I truly appreciate it! I just wish my parents were alive to see this moment and to read the book. I dedicate it to them and speak about them inside.
go down into the garden,
wander the paths of the boxwood labyrinth,
heed the melody of the lily's trumpet,
the tinkling of the coral bells,
follow the trail of peony petals, scattered like bread crumbs,
search among the low-hanging branches of the white pine, for I was born in a garden,
and it there that I shall return,
legs tangled up among the roots, forever pushing downward,
grace resurrected,
sustained by wonder, I am home.
the pansies smile through tears,
the willow weeps with joy,
the mantis sings a hymn of praise.
what once was lost is found again. "

I popped into the London Transport Museum on Saturday, 20th November to sign some copies of my new book. They had ordered in extra copies for me to 'autograph' and here they are on the counter ready to go out on the shelf marked as 'Signed'. I might try and get one more 'signing' in before Christmas if they sell sufficiently enough. It was pleasing to see someone buying a copy straight after because it was signed as well!
The London Transport Museum is now the main place to find books like this in London as both of the previous specialist transport bookshops in the capital have now closed. I found a copy in Waterstones on Piccadilly as well which I also signed but transport is badly catered for in most bookshops either being lumped under 'Sport' or 'Hobbies!'

A true rebel respects the power of cause and effect. There's no room for weakness, just the strength to rise above your circumstances.
True rebels understand that every action has a reaction, and they choose their battles wisely. No handicaps, no pity parties for anyone. Bad choices on any path you choose must have consequences.
I chased my dreams until I caught them.
I chased my thoughts until I stopped thinking.
And I chased my heart until I found You.

Don't bleed in the woods. The sharks are hungry.
It's not always about punching villains in the face, it's also about being there for someone that needs support.
"You're right when you say we all come out of high school thinking we're going to save the world. And sometimes we do. And sometimes-- sometimes we don't. So you don't think about saving the world, you think about saving just one person. Because sometimes that's enough. All I know is that we have to try. That's what life is. We try. We push back against the darkness just a little.
If you think there's a chance--no matter how small--that there might be just one more happy day out there-- Then take my hand."

I'm off to the dentist this morning. I'll be back later to Flickr with all my friends.
Winston: "Marshal Stalin, I believe God is on our side. At least i have done my best to make him a faithful ally."
Uncle Jo: " And the devil is on my side. Because, of course, everyone knows that the devil is a Communist and God, no doubt, is a good Conservative."
(Teheran Conference, November 1943)
NOTE: Here Stalin has contrived for NKVD spy Ana Pauker, (later to become Romania's Foreign Minister) to double as Roosevelt's hotel chamber maid... the devil never left to chance any such minor details!
--------------------------------------------------
Churchill si Stalin la Conferinta dela Teheran, Noiembrie 1943:
CHURCHILL:
"Maresale Stalin, stiu ca Dumnezeu este de partea noastra, sau cel putin am facut tot posibilul ca sa fie un aliat de nadejde."
STALIN:
"Iar dracul este de partea mea, pentru ca asa cum se stie, dracul este comunist, iar Dumnezeu, fara doar si poate este un Consevator convins."
-------------
During WWII Princess Marthe Bibesco (1883-1973), a sister-in-law of Lady Elizabeth Asquith, wrote several times to Churchill, on one occasion to pass on a request from the Romanian Government for a separate peace with the Allies. From recently released documents in British archives it appears clear that British civil servants were not keen to use Princess Bibesco’s offer, stating that such potential intermediaries ‘were not in short supply’ – a typical arrogance of faceless and myopic power broking civil servants at Whitehall at the sunset of the British Empire. Had they grasped the nettle, the political map of Europe might have been quite different, with eastern Europe not being enslaved and Churchill not having any reason to coin the expression ‘Iron Curtain’, as a metaphor for the division of Europe. But this was not to be and it is an instance where poets could show a better intuition than mandarins, or politicians.

This is my squeezy desk with my MacBook Pro 15", ancient 19" Viewsonic monitor, iPhone 3G 16Gb (in dock), 2 - Western Digital MyBook 500Gb external hard drives...and a 7-port hub to handle everything...oh, and a TWiT (This Week in Tech) wallpaper!

...for fun.
Eats, Shoots and Leaves. A funny book about punctuation and grammar! Whaat?
I know this book has been out for a while now, but it's one I've been wanting (and NEEDING) to read and just never got around to. Since I have been on Flickr, I have become very aware of my mis-use and abuse of punctuation, grammar, exclamation points, emoticons, etc.
So hopefully, this book will help me! ;-) (See what I mean?)
The book really IS funny - I love the wry British wit of the author, Lynne Truss. She makes learning about punctuation fun!
The cool coffee mug is new, too. I saw one by this artist on Texas To Mexico's photostream www.flickr.com/photos/7930204@N04/2288010112/ and just had to have one - or two. I found them online and ordered two different designs - I really like the bright colors!

Kalaam Baba Fareed Shakar Ganj, edited by Maqbool Anwar Daoudi, the collected Sufic Punjabi poetry of Baba Fareed.
I grew up knowing about Baba Fareed, as my father's family are serious devotees; they attend his mazaar at Pakpattan every year during the urs, and organise all kinds of gatherings in his name to collect money for charity, including qawaali meetings to which they would invite the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan every year in Lahore. Baba Fareed is renowned by Punjabi communities all around the world, and of all religions, particularly
by Muslims and Sikhs. And this post is especially for my Father.

Don't you like to change place to your books from time to time? I love to go over them and think "I could re-read this one, after all"...
A little break from my happiness project, but I'm still into it:D

I block assholes.
Last night my computer gave me a little scare. When I tried to upload the photos of the day from my camera's SD card to Picasa there was a message telling me there was no disc space left.
When I looked at the C drive--using the explore feature-- I noticed that out of the blue & pink pie of used and available space I only had under 2 GB left. The circle was totally blue with only a black line designating available space.
I panicked.
Today I purchased an external hard drive (WD “Mybook” Essential Edition 250 GB External HDD) and have been deleting, recycling and transferring folders and photos left and right to open up some space so that my computer does not completely flake out and crash on me before I'm able to save over 14 GB of photos.
So, how do you save and backup your files? ;-)
Every January, I choose books from my shelves that I haven't yet read and make a plan to read them during the coming year. These are this year's selections.
I've already begun reading War and Peace—I'm participating in a year-long read-along on the Footnotes and Tangents Substack blog. The schedule is to read a chapter a day. Most of the chapters (361 of them) are short, so I should be able to keep up with this one.
The other books will be picked up throughout the year. I'm not sure which one I'll choose first. Suggestions?
