For whatever reason
I can't seem to find, I've got to keep believing
You don't mean it when you hurt me and if you loved me
For whatever reason
I could be pleasing you, you could be deceiving me
What are you doing on Friday? How about Saturday?
Do you get a break? Maybe we could have coffee...
Oh you can't get away, well that's alright
I hope you have a good day, & a good night
For whatever reason
Can I take you out to dinner? You won't have to pay
To the place where I first met you. Come on baby what'd you say?
"Yes I'd really like to, but maybe some other time
I'm really gonna miss you, now please get off the line."
And I'd love you more, more, more
And I'd want you more, more, more
And I'd need you more, more, more
And I'd love you more, more, more...
For whatever reason
It's always nice to see you, still pushing me away
Even for a moment
"Baby how are you doing? No I must be on my way
I've got to be somewhere, but you can call me up someday...."
For whatever reason
I can't seem to find, I've got to keep believing
You don't mean it when you hurt me and if you loved me
For whatever reason
I could be pleasing you, you could be deceiving me
Two weeks in NOLA for the mardi gras 2017
Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from the musically-inclined son of Zeus and Calliope. Founding members included Harry Connick, both the junior and senior.
In New Orleans, the krewe established themselves as a superkrewe with their first parade in 1994, which rolled with 700 riders. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.
The Krewe's throws include a number of popular items including emblem beads, stuffed animals, signature beads, light-up Orpheus medallion beads, cups, three different types of doubloons, and 4-foot-long stuffed dragons.
They have a number of notable floats including the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand, the Smoking Mary which is a six unit float that looks like a steam locomotive, a Trojan horse and the Orpheus Leviathan Float, which is a three unit, 139-foot float, and the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Fats Domino wass the honorary grand marshall for 2014. His eldest son, Antoine Domino III, rode in the parade and perform his 85 year old father's music.
In addition to Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino reigned as the krewe's celebrity monarch.

Not musically jamming...but actual raspberry jam. My grandma drove me home Saturday morning after doing laundry at her house and she gave me some random food including a couple jars of jam she had just made. Unfortunately I tried to carry too much and dropped one at the end of my driveway. It broke and some glass pieces went under her van.

I've been playing the piano musically for her for some time now, often enough with something else playing. But today Nyah was in good spirits and really centered, so I thought I would show her the technical aspect of the instrument - the relationships of the notes, in a purposefully clinical way. I noticed she watched me with interest, so I moved her closer to the piano, and then started to play herself.
She hasn't yet played with any toys yet, nor understood the concept of "toy", preferring instead to watch us or other people (she's very "relational"). This really is the first time she has ever tried to manipulate something (besides chewing on something), so it was new territory seeing her "get this".

I'm stretching myself musically--learning to play the guitar. Last night I told the Mr. that I have learned two chords so far. I played the first one for him: Am7. "And here's the other one," I said as I strummed a C-major on the strings.
"I like the 2nd one better," he said.

My task is to provide two images that are musically inspired. They'll be framed separately, but I want them to relate to each other.
I like these two a lot, but I'm torn between wanting colour and wanting black and white. The colour will be a bit richer and more saturated in print than it looks on flickr. I'll probably propose three sets of images to my friend, 1 in black and white and 2 in colour.
What do you think?
The image on the left is particularly cool to me because in the ball you can see the upside down reflection of the tree, which I think will make a really interesting detail in print. These are sooc besides crop and slight levels adjustment.

Olivia is quite musically gifted. She is caught up in playing a beautiful, romantic song on her Barbie violin.
Olivia's been here since November of 2007. Blanches are another Pullip with the kind of colorful faceup I really like. I love all the pink blushiness with her brown eyemakup, dark red lips, and olive green eyes. She's borrowing a Takara Jenny Victorian Excelina's dress. Since the bonnet that goes with it won't fit her big head, I layered some ribbon, lace, and trims to complete her look.

If you think that a kiss is all in the lips
C'mon, you got it all wrong, man
And if you think that a dance is all in the hips
Oh well, then do the twist
If you think holding hands is all in the fingers
Grab hold of the soul where the memory lingers and
Make sure to never do it with a singer
Cause he'll tell everyone in the world
What he was thinking about the girl
Yeah, what he's thinking about the girl, oh
- The White Stripes, The Denial Twist
My first submission to Musically Challenged. I've been going through a phase of gritty, textured, low-fi music, and this song almost fits that. Jack White's influence and all. I much prefer his other project - The Dead Weather, but I appreciate the starting point. :)

A super musically-fulfilling night last Thursday!

Day 8 - Travel to NOLA - February 2024
Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from Zeus and Calliope?s musically inclined son. Founding members include musician/actor Harry Connick, Jr. and his father, Harry Connick, Sr., former New Orleans district attorney. With their first parade in 1994, the Krewe of 700 members established itself as a super Krewe. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.
The krewe?s throws include a number of sought-after items, including light-up Orpheus medallion beads, three different types of doubloons - Captain's, Krewe, & Musical Legends, four-foot-long stuffed dragons, and their prized throw is a custom decorated tambourine.
Notable floats include the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand. There?s also the Smoking Mary, an eight-unit float that looks like a steam locomotive. And everyone loves the three-unit, 139-foot Orpheus Leviathan Float, the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.
Over the years, Orpheus monarchs have included Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino, Sandra Bullock, Glenn Close, Whoopi Goldberg, Stevie Wonder, Laurence Fishburne, Forrest Whitaker, Brad Paisley, Anne Rice and Toby Keith.
Unlike many Carnival events which are members-only, visitors are allowed to buy tickets to the black-tie Orpheuscapade, a musical extravaganza after the parade in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
Year founded: 1993
Membership: 1500 male and female riders
Number of floats: 38 floats (including tandems)Day 8

There's a problem, feathers iron,
Bargain buildings, weights and pulleys,
Feathers hit the ground before the weight can leave the air.
Buy the sky, and sell the sky, and tell the sky, and tell the sky.
Don't fall on me (What is it up in the air for) (It's gonna fall).
Fall on me (If it's there for long) (It's gonna fall).
Fall on me (It's over it's over me) (It's gonna fall).
There's the progress we have found (when the rain)
A way to talk around the problem (when the children reign).
Building towered foresight (keep your conscience in the dark)
isn't anything at all (melt the statues in the park).
Buy the sky, and sell the sky, and bleed the sky, and tell the sky.
(repeat chorus)
Don't fall on me.
Well I could keep it above,
But then it wouldn't be sky anymore.
So if I send it to you, you've got to promise to keep it whole.
Buy the sky, and sell the sky, and lift your arms up to the sky,
And ask the sky, and ask the sky...
Don't fall on me.
