I shot this on a Gaf Ansco 127 camera, but with 35mm film loaded inside. My first roll came out riddled with light leaks, but I tried a second roll and taped up the camera with much better results. This is from the first roll, hence the light leak.

This shot was also from where I wasn't winding enough to advance the film to the proper spot, hence all the overlapping images.

The biggest bummer is that my scanner won't scan all the way to the sprocket holes. :(

A 5 exposure hdr shot with a grad blue cokin filter. I'm not sure if the blue filter was the right choice, but I love how the sky turned out, just wish the water was a little blue also. oh well.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I love progressing both in photography and as a person. These days I have been trying to do both as much as possible!!

Art of the Real

My name is Calum and I am in 7th grade. One fact about myself is that my favorite sport is soccer. I took a photo of footprints leading up to multiple trash cans, and I focused on the issue of littering. Many animals are hurt each year and the environment is damaged due to littering. Because of this, I do not litter knowing that if I do, I will cause something that I don’t want to happen. My picture is a protest against littering. For example, if trash gets in water, the water gets contaminated. Once the water evaporates, the water that was contaminated is in the air. This is bad for our breathing as well as the breathing of animals. This is why others should stop littering as well. We all know that littering is bad, but why do we still do it? In terms of composition, I focused on the angle that I took the photo from. If I shot the photo from the wrong angle, the footprints leading up to the barrels of trash would not be seen. I like my photo because it implies that people should stop littering but also implies that if litter is seen, it should be picked up rather than just left on the ground. In my community, when I see litter, I now will remember to pick it up, rather than just leave it on the ground and walk away. There is a non-profit organization called “Keep America Beautiful”. Here, you are able to volunteer, and learn how to keep your community clean and beautiful. I hope to one day take part in this.

Water Protectors engineered a makeshift wooden pedestrian bridge over the Cantapeta Creek on November 2, 2016. They were trying to access ancestral burial grounds they believe are being damaged by the Dakota Access Pipeline construction. Heavily armed law enforcement officials were deployed. As they pulled the bridge apart with boats, the Water Protectors swam and used their own boats to cross the water. Standing unarmed in the cold water, the protectors were forcibly repelled by the enforcers with tear gas, pepper spray and rubber bullets. Standoffs between the Water Protectors and law enforcement over the Dakota Access Pipeline continue in the area that has become ground zero for opposition to a $3.7 billion project that would move domestic crude oil across four states and destroy tribal lands.
