U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Det. 1 Company B, 2-238th General Support Aviation Battalion, 59th Aviation Troop Command (59th ATC), South Carolina National Guard, provide airlift and air assault support to a U.S. Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) training event with two-ship formation of CH-47 Chinook helicopters. The exercise took place at multiple, undisclosed, locations, in South Carolina and Georgia, Feb. 22-24, 2022. The event included load and unload operations of a MARSOC MRZR all-terrain vehicle, as well as insertions and exfiltrations by-air, and close air support provided by AH-64D Apache helicopters, also assigned to the 59th ATC. Once home to 2,500 residents for 40-odd years, the low cost Pekeliling Flats that were built in 1967 is slowly being demolished. We visited what remains of the blocks that remained home for many despite its size and decaying façade of the building.
