I cut this rhodo flower from my garden, put it in a vase, and set it up on a turntable on a low table on my back patio. Shooting with a tripod, I set my camera to multiple exposure and took seven shots, turning the turntable with my toe between shots. I had originally intended to show the garden in the background, but with my settings, this is how it turned out, and I liked the black background quite a bit.
The technique was inspired by Pep Ventosa's "tree in the round" method. I figured that if you can do a 360-degree multiple exposure of a tree, you could do one of a smaller subject too. My friend Victor came up with the turntable idea. Why walk around the subject, when you can just turn the subject on a lazy susan!
My first multiple exposure photo
don't zoom in, it looks bad
i now know that i should set the aperture and shutter speed so that it is exactly the same for all the pictures
Blah.
Alrighty, so I've negelected my Flickr too long. But, GOOD NEWS
I have a D700. Yup.
I tried out the multiple exposure setting and this is what I got, straight out of camera. This camera is incredible. I'm in love.
Sorry I've been not posting anything and that this isn't terribly exciting. Now that I've got new equipment I'm ready to shoot. School has been keeping me super busy, too. Speaking of, an article was written about me on my school's online site. Check it out: lhsimage.com/features/2010/10/08/vanderheyden-combines-pa...

Images for my college final major project, I decided on the topic of masks concealment, and underwent a series of shoots, ranging from white masks to still life images and explored a range in between creating a mini mask based portfolio

Today was my first day back to college and the earliest I've woken up in 2 months. I got home from the college induction and came up with the idea for a multiple exposure. I had nothing better to do so here it is.
This picture pretty much sums up my life with all the objects that I use regularly (iPod, camera bag, Xbox, skateboard etc)
Thought of the day: I should probably shave...

This plant is loved by butterflies and I caught this one mixed in the flower garden with other multiple colors. Little early for these this year, but I have lots of pictures from the past to use. These plants make pictures of different varieties of butterflies possible during the summer months.
