This is a photograph from the 3rd annual running of the Trim AC 10 Mile Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 5th February 2017 at 12:00. The race attracted over 1,200 participants which shows a 100% increase on last year's participation. The event shows growth year on year mirroring the growing popularity of the race. The race started on the Trim/Athboy road on the town's ring road and proceded to take an anti-clockwise loop out towards the village of Dunderry and townland of Kilbride before returning back to the Trim Industrial Estate for the finish. The route is held on quiet country roads with some hills at 3, 6, 8 mile segments.

The weather for this year's race was perfect for racing. There was a hard frost overnight but this brought clear bright skies and crisp air. There was no real wind to speak of.
Waterstops were provided at the 4.5 and 7 mile marks on the course. All access roads were well stewarded. The event was sponsored by Bewleys 1840 and many local business establishments. Credit must go to the Trim AC team for their flawless organisation. If the first three years of this year are anything to go on then this race will continue to grow. For runners around the North Leinster area this 10 mile race serves as a perfect training progress stepping stone to the Bohermeen Half Marathon which will take place in March 2016 and is located only 15 minutes drive from Trim.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Today, Saturday 24th November 2012, the Marathon Club of Ireland's well known West of Ireland (WOI) Marathon series made it's debut in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ireland. The first WOI marathon held in the east of Ireland was a great success. About 50 people took part in the marathon. The weather was a very cold frosty morning for running which eventually gave way to some bright November sunshine. The race started and finished from beside Acres Road/Papal Cross in the Phoenix Park. After two initial small loops totalling 1.2 miles the race then took 5 five mile loops clockwise around the Phoenix Park. This took in Chesterfield Avenue, then down towards Chapelizod, up the Military Hill, along the S-Bends, up the hill at the Upper Glen Road, and across Furze road back onto Chesterfield Avenue. A Garmin Connect GPS trace of this five mile loop is available from the links below.
As anyone who has ever raced in the Phoenix Park before this was a demanding course - and to do that loop 5 times could be described as "challenging". However everyone who took part enjoyed the event. We managed to get photographs of most of the participants from the event today! Well done to everyone who took part. The atmosphere amongst the runners involved epitomised all that is great about the marathon. Thanks to Frank McDermott, Anthony Lee, Ray O'Connor, and Pat O'Keefe for making this possible. The marathon club of Ireland organise marathons almost every two weeks all year round. They are not mass participation events. These marathons are officially measured and count as offically recognised marathons. Participants in the events are expected to support themselves with their drinks, gels, and other requirements.
How can I get a full resolution copy of these photographs?
All of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available, free, at no cost, at full resolution. There are no visible digital watermarks on the photographs from today's race event.
We take these photographs as a hobby and as a volunteered contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not know of any other photographers who operate such a policy. As we have stated above the taking and subsequent provision of these photographs, free-of-charge, into the public domain on Flickr is a hobby of ours. Depending on the size of the race event it might be impossible to get a photograph of every competitor in the race. Usually at smaller race events we can manage to take photographs of almost all of the competitors. So if your photograph is not in our Flickr set there could be a number of reasons for this:

* We got a photograph of you but it might have been blurred and consequently we didn't upload this photograph
* You might be hidden behind another group of runners
Many races in Ireland have commercial companies providing photographic services. These companies may have managed to take your photograph.

This is a photograph from the fourth annual running of the "Mullingar 10" - a 10 mile road race and fun run which was held in Dalystown, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Sunday July 17th 2017 at 11:00. The race was organised by Mullingar Harriers who promoted the event. There was almost 280 participants in the event. The race follows a simple 'figure of 8' route. The race starts from Dalystown National School and heads north briefly to Dalystown cross-roads where there is a left turn which brings runners along the L1122 road. The only real cross-over of the route is at the 2.5 and 7.5 mile mark. The race completes a loop between 2.5 and the 7.5 mile mark which brings runners into the locality of Ballinagore. The final 2.5 miles of the race brings runners back through Cloneheigue and the final 1.5 miles of the race is along straight road heading north back to Dalystown and the finish outside of Wallace's Pub which is just off the N52 road.
The course was a mixture of long straight level sections of road with some short rolling hills which made for a challenging but an overall fair course. The race took place is warm temperatures with a strong southerly breeze in the face of runners for stretches along the route. However some beautiful mature hedgerows along the mostly rural roads provided shade and shelter from the sun for runners. This race has actually had excellent weather for its first four years with some runners saying that temperatures may have even been a bit too high for distance running.
This was the fourth year of the event it has become an annual fixture on the calendar. The running calendar today shows a marked shortage of races at the 10 mile distance and this was one of the original reasons this distance was chosen for this race. Clubs from all over the North Leinster region and beyond were represented today. Refreshments were provided outside Wallace's Pub at the Finish line. Well done to Mullingar Harriers and all the many volunteers who helped make today's race a wonderful success.

Dalystown is very much a picture of the classic rural Irish parish and is situated about 7 miles south of Mullingar just off the N52 road to Tullamore Co. Offaly. The lands of Dalystown is situated at the south east corner of Lough Ennell which is the dominant geographical feature around this part of Co. Westmeath.

I had great fun over the Christmas break creating watercoloured backgrounds. I really enjoyed making this multimedia muted lilac and grey background with lots of texture from Nuvo expanding mousse and it proved to be a great backdrop to new stamps and dies from the Simon Says Stamp I just got 😃 Leaves and tags - right up my street! 🌿 Check out all the details and close up photos on my blog post 😃
