This is a photograph from the start of the Tullamore Harriers AC "Quinlan Cup" Half Marathon which was held on Saturday 26th August 2017 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland at 11:00. This is the fifth year of the event. The race is organised and promoted by Tullamore Harriers AC. The race starts on the Charleville Road just outside the entrance to Tullamore Harriers. The race proceeds south along the R421 and onto the N52 before taking a route onto local back roads. The race then completes a large rural road route before it joins to the R421 again and the final 1.5 miles are the same as the first mile of the race. The runners enter Tullamore stadium and complete one lap of the tartan track before the finish line. The course is challenging in places with some undulations along the route. But overall it is fair course. 2013 seen the first year of the event as the club commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the formation of Tullamore Harriers AC which today is one of Ireland's best known athletics clubs.

The race was perfectly organised. The weather was good for racing but there was warm summer weather for the entire race which made for warmer than usual running conditions There were stewarts all along the route, 3 drink stations with bottled water, superb facilities, and great after-race refreshments. The stewards along the route provided great encouragement to all of the runners. Tullamore Harriers and the local community really worked together to make this is a wonderful event. There was also a relay option where teams of two can run approximately 10.5km each.
As mentioned above this race half marathon started in 2013 and celebrated the 60th Anniversary (a Diamond Anniversary) of the foundation of Tullamore Harriers AC. The club was formed in the town in November 1953. However, it was almost 1979 before facilities close to what we see today open in the present day site. Over 50 provincial and national athletics meetings are held at Tullamore Harriers every year. The facilities available combined with it's central geographical location joining routes from North, South, East, and West make it a very attractive venue. The half marathon today firmly brings competitive national road racing back to "The Harriers". The Quinlan Cup which will be awarded to the winning club team. For more than 40 years the Harriers Quinlan Cup was the most prestigious event on the road racing calendar. Having started as a cross-country race back in 1957, it became a road race in 1967 and remained so until 2000 when the race was last held. During its reign as a blue-ribband event the Quinlan Cup was won by the likes of John Treacy and Eamonn Coughlan.
Today, the facilities at Tullamore Harriers are the envy of many athletics clubs in Ireland. The facilities provided by Tullamore make it one of the premier venues for local and national level athletics in Ireland. There is an Olympic standard tartan track, a fully equipped gym, changing facilities, press and media facilities, meeting room spaces, etc. The club also provides a social center and niteclub which makes "The Harriers" a very well known on the local social scene. Esssentially, the town of Tullamore would be a different place if it weren't for the presence of Tullamore Harriers AC.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

The spine is made up of thirty-three small bones called vertebrae. The five vertebrae between the chest and the pelvis are called the lumbar vertebrae. Each vertebra has different parts.
The vertebral body, the two pedicles and the two lamina. There are also two transverse processes and one spinous process. Each vertebra has two superior articular processes and two inferior articular processes.
An inferior articular process from the vertebra above moves against the superior articular process of the vertebra below to form a facet joint. This is also known as a zygo-apophysial joint.
The adjacent vertebrae are connected by the intervertebral disc in front of the spinal canal, and the two facet joints behind.
This disc and the two facet joints help keep the two vertebrae correctly aligned, while allowing a controlled amount of movement. In this way, all the vertebra of your spine work together, supporting each other. The stability of the spine as a whole relies upon the health of the disc and the facet joints in each vertebral level.
In the centre of each vertebra is a large hole. As the vertebrae all link up together, these holes line up and form a bony tube, called the vertebral canal or the spinal canal. The spinal cord passes down the vertebral canal, and the spinal nerves leave through the intervertebral foramina to the rest of the body.

Computer Lab inaugurated at Govt. Girls Degree College Chitral.

CHITRAL: To support female students in computor and information technology Chitral Integrated Area Development Program (CIADP) inaugurated computer laboratory at Government Girls Degree College Chitral. Deputy Commissioner Chitral Ameenul Haq was chief guest on the occasion.
Addressing on the occasion DC Chitral said that educational institutions and government organizations must be supported in term to enable them to face challenges of modern era. He highly hailed efforts of CIADP for increasing of literacy ratio as well as their contribution in quality education and other developmental schemes for Chitral.
Managing Director Thrive CIADP Azar Ayaz said that our organization is trying of its best to solve problems of Chitral,s people on priority basis because of most remote area of KPK. He said that CIADP is a non political organization which work for entire district and we trying to keep it a non politicized organization. He said that we success in our mission and notw we work neutrally. He said that CIADP giving preference to women folk to solve their problems and to provide them all possible facilities as comparative to men because women are the most neglected segment of our society.
He said that CIADP spent some 2 million rupees in this college by providing them 26 computers, 13 computer tables, 25 LCD Monitors, Multimedia etc. He said that we also repaired and constructed computer lab, Hall, service Room, store room, wash rooms, its furnishing, painting and also provided adequate furniture to the girls college.
He stressed upon the staff and students to utilize these equipments and to get maximum benefits from these latest computers. and other related tools of information technology. He said that our Engineering section also conducted survey of the college to solve problem of shortage of water.
Addressing to the opening ceremony of Computer lab principal of the College Mrs Gul Hameera thanked to CIADP adn especially to Norwegian government for solving their long awaited problem and provided them latest computer for enhancement computer knowledge of girls students. She said that CIADP play vital role in promoting of education and carrying improvement in educational institutions. She said that some 1300 girls students are reading in this college which is being supporting by different civil societies organizations.
Program Coordinator Asfandiyar Khan, senior Officer Information Technology and MI S Farrah, Senior Officer Monitoring and Evaluation Zakir Hussain, Assistant Principal Miss Mussarat Bibi and In-charge IT Section Miss Alweena also spoke on the occasion. This is a photograph from the 3rd running of the Finea 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Finea, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Sunday 23rd March 2014 at 12:00. The race is organised in conjunction with the Castletown Finea Coole and Whitehall GAA club which is an amalgamation club of the GAA clubs of the surrounding parishes. Whilst the numbers were lower than the races from 2013 there was still a great local country atmosphere with runners, joggers, and walkers enjoying the cold but dry and sunny weather for the race. There was a great spread of refreshments provided in Fitzsimons Bar after the race.

This race is unique in the fact that it provided participants with the opportunity to compete in a race in two counties (Westmeath and Cavan) and two provinces (Ulster and Leinster) in Ireland during the same race. The race started on the Cavan side of the famous bridge of Finea and finished on the banks of the river. Finea is a beautiful Irish village which is well known for its scenery and it's position in the beautiful landscape of North Westmeath amongst the lakes and hills. The race crosses the River Inny which provides a natural drainage river between Lough Kinale to the south and the much larger Lough Sheelin [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lough_Sheelin] to the north. The race was well stewarded at all road junctions. Water was provided at the 3KM mark.
Course: The race starts and finishes at either side of the Bridge of Finea. The Bridge End Bar was the start where the race went out 400m on the Granard road and runners turned around at cone and headed back into Co. Westmeath over the bridge and the 1km mark. Following the Castlepollard Road the race took at left at the 2km and followed a loop back past the National School and back into Finea village again for a finish down on the banks of the River Inny. The course was a tough undulating course but fair. Any short hills were balanced out by adequate down-hill the other side. The stewards provided excellent traffic management on what is a busy section of road between the 1st KM and the final KM and the finish.

deeper love - piece in the works, part of a series of paintings I am going to be working on with graff covered bridges, tunnels, and nice lights, etc. that sort of thing. the dramatic lighting as the "stage", the light at the end of the tunnel (ending of life, etc.) and the different stages of the graff art - some dedicate pieces to love, RIP, writers being toys, writers in battle with other writers, getting a rep, being all city, etc.

Amy Ellen Mainville Cohn is an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan, where she also holds an appointment in the Department of Health Management and Policy in the School of Public Health.
Dr. Cohn is the Faculty Director of the Center for Healthcare Engineering and Patient Safety (CHEPS). She holds an A.B. in applied mathematics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University and a PhD in operations research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Her primary research interests are in applications of combinatorial optimization, particularly to healthcare and aviation, and to the challenges of optimization problems with multiple objective criteria. She values teaching, mentoring, having a positive impact on society through her work, and helping to foster a vibrant, diverse, nurturing community.

This is a photograph from the 12th annual running of the Tom Brennan Memorial 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held on Furze Road, Phoenix Park, Chapelizod, Dublin, Ireland on New Year's Day Sunday 1st January 2017 at 12:00. The race route is a two loop course which starts and finishes on the Furze Road in the middle of the Phoenix Park. Participants follow a clockwise, right-handed, route around Furze Road, Ordnance Survey and Chesterfield Avenue. The weather on New Year's Day in the Phoenix Park is always unpredictable. A very strong headwind into the faces of participants along Chesterfield Avenue made this particular section tough going for everyone. There was also a particularly cold icy feel in the air despite the recent mild weather in Ireland over Christmas. However several hundred runners, joggers and walkers shook off the effects of Christmas celebrations to take part. The route itself is flat without any noticeable undulations.
The race is organised and promoted by the local athletics club Liffey Valley Athletic Club who are based in Islandbridge, Dublin 8 and have a catchment area around this part of Dublin city. The race commemorates the memory and contribution of former club member Tom Brennan who won the National Cross Country Championships in 1975 in UCD Belfield at the age of 24 years. A special commemorative perpetual trophy is presented to the winner of the race every year. The race is also of particular interest to those runners, joggers and walkers who are not necessarily involved in the competitive side of road racing. Annually the race is the first of a series of races in Dublin city which make up the Lord Mayor’s 5 Alive Challenge. This initiative by Dublin City Council is now in its fifth year and several hundred runners, joggers and walkers volunteer to take part in five of Dublin’s most popular road races. The Liffey Valley Club and many other volunteers work hard to make this a very successful event. It provides a splendid opening of the New Year for runners of all abilities. It is also a fitting 'official' start to the new calendar year of road racing in the Dublin and North Leinster region.

The explaination is very simple.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
