Port Jackson, consisting of the waters of Sydney Harbour, Middle Harbour, North Harbour and the Lane Cove and Parramatta Rivers, is the natural harbour of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The harbour is an inlet of the Tasman Sea (part of the South Pacific Ocean). It is the location of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The location of the first European settlement and colony on the Australian mainland, Port Jackson has continued to play a key role in the history and development of Sydney. Port Jackson, in the early days of the colony, was also used as a shorthand for Sydney and its environs. Many recreational events are based on or around the harbour itself particularly the Sydney New Year's Eve celebrations and the starting point of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. The waterways of Port Jackson are managed by the Roads & Maritime Services. Sydney Harbour National Park protects a number of islands and foreshore areas, swimming spots, bushwalking tracks and picnic areas. 14681

Selective color B&W image for Smile on Saturday

It is a harbour adjacent to the city centre of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia that is made up of a large recreational and pedestrian precinct that is situated on western outskirts of the Sydney central business district. Originally named Long Cove, the locality extends northwards from Chinatown, along both sides of Cockle Bay to King Street Wharf 3 on the east, and to the suburb of Pyrmont on the west. Cockle Bay is just one of the waterways that makes up Darling Harbour, which opens north into the much larger Port Jackson. 6849

Created for the Smile on Saturday theme, MULTICOLOUR BUBBLE BOKEH, a name that, if you can say it quickly and correctly, proves you're able to drive home from tonight's party.

This weeks contribution to the Macro Monday's theme of Multicolour, an abstract take on using Skittles to produce colour in water. HMM

Having a Great time with Flavita and Regina Around... Sorry for the absence ;))

LET ME COLOUR YOUR DAY… FREESIAS

both visual and fragrant pleasure...

Freesia is a genus of 14-16 species of flowering plants in the family Iridaceae, native to Africa. Of the 14 species, 12 are native to Cape Province, South Africa, the remaining two to tropical Africa, one species extending north of the equator to Sudan.

The genus was named in honour of Friedrich Heinrich Theodor Freese (1795-1876), a German physician.

They are herbaceous plants which grow from a corm 1-2.5 cm diameter, which sends up a tuft of narrow leaves 10-30 cm long, and a sparsely branched stem 10-40 cm tall bearing a few leaves and a loose one-sided spike of fragrant narrowly funnel-shaped flowers.

Christmas tree lights.

This is a multiple exposure image (not in-camera) of the lights on the Christmas tree that has been a feature of our decorations for aeons innumerable...

It's a two-by multi of the same view. I wanted to get a more interesting and even distribution of the bokeh so one version is with the camera upside down, slightly zoomed out and more out of focus. It was taken in January but processed today... the view hasn't changed much :)

For Smile on Saturday's theme of coloured bokeh.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy New Year to you! Thanks to my Flickr friends for all the fun this year. God bless.

PS I try and collect bokeh images for use as overlays in processing - that's what originally caused me to take this one. If you wish to use this one in your own work do feel free to download it - I've changed the copyright :)

Un grand merci pour vos favoris, commentaires et encouragements toujours très appréciés.

Many thanks for your much appreciated favorites and comments.

This is the precise moment the Blue Tit's beak pierced a Long Tail's wing during an altercation

But it wasn't that which struck me about it

It was the 'splash' of colour and movement which drew me to the shot

Fortunately taken against a dark background (IMO) it has an almost 'arty' feel to it which I quite like

Unconventionally cropped I know., but for two reasons...

1. To clearly see what was happening

2. To maximize the impact of colour and motion

I understand It wont be to everyone's taste., especially in this tight format

But for me it was something a bit different (which I always love in any shot)

and also because it was taken in our own back garden

Macro Mondays - theme: Multicolor

I was dithering so much today (I took lots of different images); that's why I am rather late ; ))

Happy Macro Monday ! : ))

Macro Mondays theme Multicolour

Running late today. As usual I was lacking inspiration. I decided to do oil on water but forgot how fiddly and difficult it can be. I ended up with just a handful of eligible images. Somehow oil seems to attract maximum fluff and detritus as well as moving about in an irritating sort of way.

Width of frame here is probably around 2cm as I cropped a bit of negative space out.

Happy Macro Monday 😊
