Pashmina is a fine type of Kashmiri wool. The textiles made from it were first woven in Kashmir.

The name comes from Persian: pašmina, meaning "made from wool" and literally translates to "Soft Gold" in Kashmiri.

Pashmina came to be known as 'cashmere' in the West because Europeans first encountered this fibre in Kashmir.

The wool comes from four distinct breeds of the Cashmere goat; namely the Changthangi or Kashmir Pashmina goat from the Changthang Plateau in Kashmir region, the Malra from Kargil area in Kashmir region, the Chegu from Himachal Pradesh in northern India, and Chyangara or Nepalese Pashmina goat from Nepal.

These shawls are hand spun, and woven in Kashmir and Nepal, and made from fine cashmere fibre.

Here a cheaper version, machine-woven.

The garden pansy is a type of large-flowered hybrid plant cultivated as a garden flower. It is derived by hybridization from several species in the section Melanium 'the pansies' of the genus Viola, particularly Viola tricolor, a wildflower of Europe and western Asia known as heartsease. The garden pansy flower is 5 to 8 centimetres in diameter and has two slightly overlapping upper petals, two side petals, and a single bottom petal with a slight beard emanating from the flower's center. These petals are usually white or yellow, purplish, or blue. The plant may grow to 23 cm in height, and prefers sun to varying degrees and well-draining soils. Z2 252

Post Knott is a viewpoint above the town of Bowness in the Lake District, overlooking Lake Windermere. I've been there a couple of times it's no great bother to get there, takes about 5 mins walking from Bowness. Yet somehow I had a heck of a time getting here on this occasion. Serves m right for trying to be a smartarse and not take the OS map. I decided to take a different route, and on the map, it looked like there was a path. But part of the path was obscured by the letter W where it says 'Bowness'. Turns out there is no path. So I ended up taking a ridiculous detour, wandering about in what later turned out to be a spiralling route. I'm putting it down to electromagnetism from the large amount of iron in the rocks screwing with my sense of direction. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Just goes to prove the old adage 'The map is not the territory'.

I used recycled pencils for this image as well as a recycled piece of glass bauble for the eye.

Then 'played' with each image in photoshop, assembled the lot, this is the result...

Thanks and have a colourful day, M, (*_*)

If I recall correctly, this was taken at the Rising Sun Countryside Park, in the company of Mr R McAvoy.

I know it's early but Niqui is doing a big Christmas project for my mum, which involves a lot of intricate embroidery. This is a small part of a carousel horse and will form part of the larger picture of a huge and colourful carousel to be used as part of my mums Christmas decorations.

A Slinky is a toy pre-compressed helical spring invented by Richard James.

It can perform a number of tricks, including travelling down a flight of steps end-over-end as it stretches and re-forms itself with the aid of gravity and its own momentum.

I kept seeing new angles, I had such fun with them. LOL

More great fun from Studio Indigo.

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)

Love them or hate them, Parrot Tulips are Spring's grand (bulb) showcase, big and beautiful, they have flamboyant flowers with streaks, ruffles and frayed edges and all the colours of the rainbow.

Close-up portrait. Most unusual, these 'red' Rococo Parrot Tulips, flowers with twisted, irregularly fringed and curved petals. They are weird even a little 'alien'?

Are they 'monstrous beauty or beautiful monster'

Have a glorious day and thanks, M, (*_*)

Do I have to remember you that nobody guessed my last abstract? :P

Thanks for viewing ;)

Resolving to use more colour even with, or especially with, uninteresting objects like this table tennis ball.

4 tiny tomatoes ranging from yellow, light orange, orange to red. Blending effect by intentional camera movement.

For this one I suspended baby yoda via fishing line from the ceiling. Took a low angle shot so the stormtroopers are looking up to him. Background is a cool astronaut I have that projects different coloured nebulas..

COLOUR MY WORLD…I used recycled pencils for this image as well as a recycled piece of glass bauble for the eye.

Then 'played' with each image in photoshop, assembled the lot, this is the result... every bit helps?

It concerns ALL of us.

Pencils are made from wood, trees we need for climate balance, hoping for less tornadoes and typhoons?

For the Macro Mondays Cloth/Textile theme, a snip of Missoni cotton terry towel, in the aptly named multicolour micro-macro striped motif.

Waving lights about at stuff.

Straight out of the camera and all that jazz.

For "smile on saturday" ; "selective multicolour".

After trimming orchard we use tree scraps as firewood. So this billet had to go to a furnace.

I was charmed by internal colouring of this piece of wood and decided to capture its look for myself as well as to try to share my impression.

It was quite old plum-tree. Probably such various colouring was caused by fungus infection or some another illness, I don't know.
