Took a walk early this morning, came back to house to see what looked like two huge scary inects on the wall. They didn't seem much to be concerned about me and my iPhone pix although trying to use the Petco Pals thing as a measurement made the one start to move off, and I figured I'd better git. A bit of googling (and verification from FB friend) indicates that they are Mud Dauber Wasps - scary if you're a spider, pretty peaceful about humans. I never actually realized why "wasp waisted" was a thing. They certainly aren't "murder hornets."
Determination and exhilaration show on this contestant as she conquers the mud slide and nears the finish line. The Greenville Mud Run was held at SCTAC (Formerly Donaldson Center) over the weekend to benefit Goodwill. The Mud Run consisted of about 35 physically demanding obstacles spread of a 3.5 mile course.

After rafting the Kennebec river maine the children thought it would be great fun to play in the mud.
Muddiest I've been all year, thanks to beet farmers churning up one of the local tracks. Good fun though!

Decided to try my hand at a little 'outdoor r sports photography', travelling with the Fitter Faster Stronger crew sponsored by EDS NZ.
I like the composition of this photo, one of my favourites from the day.
Mud dauber (or "mud wasp") is a name commonly applied to a number of wasps from either the family Sphecidae or Crabronidae that build their nests from mud. Mud daubers belong to different families and are variable in appearance. Most resemble long, slender wasps about 1-inch (25 mm) in length.

Clean riff, Glam stomp drums, and fancy footwork. They appeared on TV in Fifties drape jackets and brothel creepers. Mums and Dads liked it, not just the Kids. It got to Number 1. Life was simpler…
