Yet another sample of Doug's great photography captures Western Pacific's San Jose Turn pulling through California's Altamont Pass.

this is the small train station of my home town. Long exposure of moving trains. Wish you all a nice weekend.

Just moving in to my new Linden homes, Thousand Island Tiki Grotto

at the railway station

These beautiful raptors make an occasional stop through Northeast Ohio during their southern migration from the Boreal forests in Canada. They don't stay around very long with this one moving on after less than a day in one of the conifers at a local nature preserve. Shortly after I took this, a squirrel who was foraging in the same tree jumped from a nearby branch practically landing on top of the Owl. The Owl flew to an adjacent tree, burying itself deep within its branches. I’m not sure who was more surprised – the squirrel, the Owl or the onlookers. Pretty low light so I used a monopod for this one.

A little Pied-billed Grebe motors on.

The wings were already moving so fast it didn't look like it had any!

Toronto, Ontario

A small slice of the sight of thousands of Snow Geese on the move.

Arena dello Stretto (Reggio Calabria, Italy)

A poor sunrise in Whitby prompted me to look for something different [thinking of my wife's mantra "what have I got?"] I like the repetition and geometric shapes. More direct light than my previous shot and the colour had faded in the clouds. Reflections were courtesy of the wash from waves which can make this a hazardous place to be though not on this morning!

A little solitary sandpiper captivated me; didn't see the blue heron till it had decided I was close enough!

This was taken from a moving train! Its a view in the south of the Lake District. I was on my way to Edinburgh! Its something I've fancied trying for a while but don't get the chance very often. I think my phone handled it fairly well considering the delay it has between tapping the button and taking the photo.

Saunders' Case Moth (Metura elongatus) larva male

Spotted crossing the footpath (sidewalk) as I walked down to the shops this morning. Looking for a tree or wooden fence to attach itself to.

Case moths spend most of their lives as caterpillars, the larval stage, which may last for up to 1 or 2 years in some species. Once constructed, the female caterpillars never leave their cases.

Of course I didn't have the camera with me so a shot with the phone camera.

Sometimes things aren't meant to last and people walk away for whatever reasons. At the end of the day I have myself. Moving on is a hard thing to do when your heart is with someone but sometimes what your heart wants and what you have to do is two completely different things. Wherever you end up just know it was always me and you at one point.

When we saw these beauties the invasion was just beginning.

It now looks like being the best year for them in a decade.
