This is a symbolic mark of protest against the new Beta change which Flickr proposes to force upon all users ..

If you wish to make protest, then please only upload a " Black " picture on the 8th December

*** This is available for download should you wish.

With the new platform Beta Team Flickr intend to make further changes that will limit severely the exchanges between users:

1 - There will be no white space below the photo for description, comments or invitations to groups

2 - Difficult to write a comment that contains more than 3 words

3 - We can not see who supports our pics

4 - We can not see in which groups the photo appears

5 - The images of the award will not be visible

6 - The visits will no longer be visible. The latter will only appear in Recent Activity, others will be lost.

7 - For Admin it will become impossible to manage groups so many will close.

8 - Our descriptions, including quotes, links to YouTube or other sites will be hidden

( translated from Italian )

Changes should not delete/destroy/ruin the very factors which caused us to join flickr in the first place ...

Example of page showing how the Beta Flickr shall be.... in first comment.

"Yahoo has new ideas. flickr is offering 1 TB free space for all accounts. Those who want to be rid of advertisements have to pay.

I appeal you all those who plan to quit, to change your mind and stay. You can make use of your accounts just for storage. Make your accounts private, make this image public and use flickr for storage. You can save on external hard disks.

If we check in to a hotel room seeing it's features, should we bear it without a word of protest if they take away the furniture one by one including the bed ? flickr should know that the people who protest are not against 'changes'.

Changes shouldn't steal away the utilities that made people choose flickr.

Protest ! flickr is not just the property of few people who get paid to serve the people that make it. If they offer 1 TB free space for every account, the salaried people who planned it have advertisements in mind. Many unique special utilities made people like you and me join flickr, and flickr is taking away all what that made us choose it. Now the only special thing in flickr is 1 TB free storage. Let's then make use of it, without caring about flickr's revenue. We can seek better places for what we like, still keep this place for storage. If the 'hotel' stinks and cheated us, make it your warehouse or sty. If this is forced on us, you can make your account private, store everything here; display , share and comment elsewhere.

Thank you.

Users of the English version of Flickr may have got the botton " try our new experience Beta"

This is an incredible regression .....once again

No longer any white space underneath pictures for comments, description, invitations etc....

Everything is gathered in a tiny sidebar to the right of the photo in the Lightbox

All features that allow interaction and sharing have gone so groups might also disappear ......

You may take a look here

yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/224533-flickr-photo-page-beta

If you want to save the groups from a certain death, Please click this blue link and go to vote

yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/224533-flickr-photo-page-beta/...

We had got used (more or less) the first changes, but this time, it is a

total scuttling of Flickr and of its spirit of sharing :(

We can't see who faved our pictures

We can't see the groups the pictures appear in ( except only 8)

Awards images. are not shown

Invitations are not visible except for the last ones (only in "Recent Activity").They're lost.

For admins group management will become a work more and more difficult or even impossible

Groups might close......and groups add visibility to our pictures

Our descriptions including quotes or links to YouTube or other sites are hidden

NO LONGER ANY CONVIVIALITY.. ANY VISIBILITY . NO SENSE

*I specify for those who haven't seen the Beta page;that there is NO

white area under the pictures for descriptions / comments / invitations /

flickr Award Counter

Only a narrow sidebar to the right of the image ,showing ONLY the last 4 comments

White print on a black and depressive background, that hurts the eyes

Unfortunately everything we can do is absolutely useless ....

Unfortunately it is obvious that Yahoo wants to turn Flickr into another social network for teens and young using only tablets and smartphones and whose only interaction is Hi or Lol

Motivated photographers using computers and large screens are no longer interesting users.... ( nor groups since our invitations are only visible on our "Recent Activity "Page....The oldest are lost ....)

How many people know what represents the Beta Page ?? I wonder ?

Only some users of the English version of Flickr ..... but not all of them

All this is very discouraging

Did you know that flickr has been testing a new beta version of flickr?

I haven't actually seen the beta page but I've had it described to me:

"...there is NO white area under the pictures for descriptions / comments / invitations / flickr Award Counter

Only a narrow sidebar to the right of the image ,showing ONLY the last 4 comments

White print on a black and depressive background, that hurts the eyes

No sense. Hard to write comments exceeding 2 or 3 words

We can't see who faved our pictures

We can't see the groups the pictures appear in ( except only 8 )

Awards images. are not shown in comments : which means that neither members nor admins can check

Admin-Invitations are not displayed ( the last ones are visible ONLY in "Recent Activity").The oldest are lost

For admins , group management will become a work more and more difficult or even impossible

Some groups might close......and groups add visibility to our pictures

They allow us to admire beautiful works and to meet with great photographers.

Our descriptions including quotes or links to YouTube or other sites are hidden

NO LONGER ANY CONVIVIALITY.. ANY VISIBILITY . NO SENSE

In fact this layout specifically targets tablets and smartphones"

Mixed Media work from my URBAN TYPE Series

I'm not a very big Tupac fan,

but this quote could not be ignored under current circumstances.

Wish it were that easy really.

Rain, biker and sportcenter in Davos Switzerland

Andrew at the "Rally to Save the American Dream" protest in support of Wisconsin. Dupont Circle, Washington, DC.

There comes a time when your head hits the ceiling; in love, in a relationship, work, and career. And it doesn’t happen because you don’t care. It happens because you tried to fix unfixable for a long time—fitting & adjusting something that was not meant to stay. And you leave because life and more or less “young healthy age” won’t last forever. You erupt like a Sicilian volcano and just go because to stay more destructive than walk / drive into unknown.

Pics from this afternoon's "We Choose to Fight: Nobody Elected Elon" MoveOn protest at the Department of Treasury.

Just based on what I saw, I'd say 1500 people came to fight back against the oppressive, dehumanizing techniques of the current administration.

I really did not want to go, I feel so scarred after the Proud Boys visits in 2020. But I could not look myself in the mirror and stand back anymore. So just like 1.0, all of these photos are available on Flickr in Creative Commons for media, influencers, and everyday people like me and you to use. Or just take and share any of these. Attribution requested.

Thanks for stopping by and view this photo. The reason for posting this photo on Flickr is to learn so if you have constructive feedback regarding what I could do better and / or what should I try, drop me a note I would love to hear your input.

View on Black the way it should be seen!

Thousands of people gathered in San Francisco for “Families Belong Together”, a protest against the Trump regime’s cruel and inhumane immigration policies. This national day of action took place on June 30, 2018 and was organized by MoveOn, with local partners Indivisible San Francisco, Women's March SF and many more Bay Area civic groups. The morning march started at 10am in Dolores Park and ended in front of San Francisco’s Civic Center, where a rally was held from 11am to 1pm. These photos are from the rally only.

People from diverse ethnic backgrounds participated in this rally, from latinos to muslims and asian-americans. Musicians included folk singer Joan Baez, who led a sing-along of “De Colores”, along with rapper Gina Madrid and singers of all ages. Speakers represented a wide variety of community voices, as well as elected officials such as Mayor Mark Farrell and Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer. Many of our friends joined this rally, including Sheri Cooper, Clancy Bounds, Priscilla Wheeler, Evelyn Messinger and members of the Mill Valley Community Action Network (MVCAN).

People held many creative signs demanding that we reunite families torn apart by our racist government, end their detention and abolish ICE, which carries out the Trump’s “zero tolerance” policies. Others participants focused on defeating Republicans in the midterm elections and taking action to impeach Trump and his accomplices.

"Families Belong Together" brought us all closer together, inspired and informed us, and energized us to push back against hate and racism -- through lpeaceful resistance.

I am amazed at the "Say No To Video On Flickr" groups that are popping up on flickr. Do these people really have nothing more important to worry about in their lives? (For real cause suggestions tune into CNN or BBC for a few minutes) It seems to me that flickr has added a feature that you are free to use or ignore if you like just like geotagging, groups, sets, collections, printing, keywording (AKA tags) .... use these features if you want or ignore then, it's your choice.

Some of these zealots are actually talking about class action lawsuits against flickr (a business that they are free to not patronize if they don't want to).

Videos are moving pictures ... they are pictures that move, not really that different than pictures that don't move. It's all photography no matter how you look at it.

I have no fear that flcikr Pro members are going to start posting Numu Numa videos or dancing babies. Flickr Pro members are going to post video clips very much like the stills they take and I think that's just fine.

If these crybabies want to ban something on flickr I think they should go after my pet peeve; people that post comments to my photos and attach ridiculous little pictures of awards and stars that say "congratulations, you've won the pointless worthless silly (award one, rate 6, comment 14, view 12, tap your foot, spin around, wear a funny hat) award of the day award prize thing. Click here to join our silly pointless spamming group with more rules and procedures than the catholic church and you to can post comments with little star or trophy icons in them.

Before anyone attacks me ... let's make it clear, I'm not on either side of the issue, I couldn't care less what flickr offers as additional features to the site. As far as video clips go, I could take them or leave them, it does not matter to me. I'm a still photographer myself and I have about a dozen short video clips to my name and I've already posted the ones that I wanted to post and I probably wont post any more for a while. However if I ever want to post another video clip I'll be glad the option is there for me when I want it.

...Also by posting that screeshot above I am not attacking that group. Actually most of the people commenting in that group have the same opinion as me, that the whole argument is silly and kinda humorous when you step back and look at it.

This is for a project by Move On. Move On.org is hoping to give support to the new congress. They are asking people to sign a petition and to make it even more personal by having people take a picture of themselves with a poster that shows the ISSUES that are most important to them about America. As an, ex-pat, an American living in other countries these last years (and often the only American wherever I am ) I am conscious of carrying not only my own identity, but also my country's. It is NOT easy in recent years!! It seems we have lost nearly everything I value about home. but, it is not too late. Speak Out ! Move On!

-- On Saturday, June 30th, [residents will rally at various locations as part of the Families Belong Together national day of action to protest the Trump Administration’s policy of forcibly separating children from their parents, the detention of families, and the fact that the Trump Administration has failed to reunite thousands of children with their parents.

The [CITY] protest is part of a National “Families Belong Together” Day of Action featuring more than 710 events in all 50 states and an anchor protest in Lafayette Square in Washington DC. Tens of thousands of people are expected to participate across the country. Specifically, the protesters will demand that the Trump Administration:

•Reunite families now. Permanently end family separation and immediately reunify those that have been separated. ICE must release parents immediately so that ORR can reunify them with their children.

•End family detention. Children and families deserve due process, not indefinite imprisonment. Children do not belong in baby cages and internment-like camps. Family incarceration is not the solution to family separation.

•End ‘Zero Humanity.’ Reverse the Trump administration’s policy that created this crisis and chaos to begin with. Parents should not be criminally prosecuted for doing what all parents do, which is bring their children to safety. This horrible nightmare for families will only end when Trump permanently stops his 100% prosecution policy.

Say it loud, say it clear,

Immigrants are welcome here!

Say it loud, say it clear,

Refugees are welcome here!

Repeat“Courage” (listen):

Courage, my friend, you do not walk alone.

We will, walk with you, and sing your spirit home.

*Replace “Courage” with other words like “families” “immigrants” or “children”

When immigrant rights are under attack,

What will we do? Unite, fight back!

When refugee rights are under attack,

What will we do? Unite, fight back!

Repeat“May The Life I Lead” (listen):

Let the life I lead, speak for me. (x2)

When I get to the end of the road, and lay down my heavy load,

Let the life I lead, speak for me.

El pueblo unido

jamás será vencido!

(The people united, will never be defeated)

RepeatTo the tune of “Blessings” by Chance the Rapper (listen):

We gonna rise up, rise up till it’s won (x2)

When the people rise up, the powers come down (x2)

They try to stop us, but we keep comin’ back (x2)

Love, not hate, makes America great!

Repeat

Stop it already! People, let's move on. California voted on this issue. Don't shove it in my face your life style and beliefs (whatever that might be). You believe what you believe, do what your practice but please don't force others to do the same.

I don't care what another couples do in their privacy of their own homes. Get married in any other method, whatever state or country allow it.

I mean, I also understand that homosexuality isn't a choice, it's a way people are born. So, you do your thing and let others who don't believe in your lifestyle alone.

People, my point is that we are in a financial down turn economy (my stock portfolio value keeps decreasing!), state attorneys and law makers need to emphasize in other more important issues, like fighting the increase of sales tax, keep business moving, give re-training for people who are loosing their jobs, grow revenues for social services, etc.,

I mean, I think there are other laws we could live without but guess what, I'm not trying to force you into passing them. Respect the law!

Sure, force it upon the rest. I'm sure divorce attorneys are going to love you more because they are going to double their business! And the cracker of CA Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will receive more revenues by more marriage licenses issues in the state.

And don't blame religion for my point of view. I am a non practicing catholic and respect and love all human beings.

Finally, don't be hatin for my opinion. Peace!

This was a pro-union rally in response to recent union issues in Wisconsin. They support wage earners, labor unions and collective bargaining. They're against corporate tax breaks, large bonuses for company executitves and concentration of wealth in the upper income levels. The rally was sponsored by several groups including MoveOn.org and AFSCME.

Signs read:

Dissect Corporate Greed!

NOT Public Workers!

I AM A PROUD

PUBLIC WORKER
