With the new platform Beta Team Flickr intend to make further changes that will limit severely the exchanges between users:

5 - The images of the award will not be visible

"Yahoo has new ideas. flickr is offering 1 TB free space for all accounts. Those who want to be rid of advertisements have to pay.
I appeal you all those who plan to quit, to change your mind and stay. You can make use of your accounts just for storage. Make your accounts private, make this image public and use flickr for storage. You can save on external hard disks.
If we check in to a hotel room seeing it's features, should we bear it without a word of protest if they take away the furniture one by one including the bed ? flickr should know that the people who protest are not against 'changes'.
Changes shouldn't steal away the utilities that made people choose flickr.
Protest ! flickr is not just the property of few people who get paid to serve the people that make it. If they offer 1 TB free space for every account, the salaried people who planned it have advertisements in mind. Many unique special utilities made people like you and me join flickr, and flickr is taking away all what that made us choose it. Now the only special thing in flickr is 1 TB free storage. Let's then make use of it, without caring about flickr's revenue. We can seek better places for what we like, still keep this place for storage. If the 'hotel' stinks and cheated us, make it your warehouse or sty. If this is forced on us, you can make your account private, store everything here; display , share and comment elsewhere.

Everything is gathered in a tiny sidebar to the right of the photo in the Lightbox
All features that allow interaction and sharing have gone so groups might also disappear ......

Unfortunately it is obvious that Yahoo wants to turn Flickr into another social network for people (mainly teens and young ) using only tablets and smartphones and whose only interaction is Hi or Lol
Motivated photographers still using computers (with photo-softwares) and large screens are no longer desirable customers....
( nor groups since our invitations are only visible on our "Recent Activity "Page....The oldest are lost ....and everything is done to impede their functioning)
Advertising is much much more lucrative than our Pro accounts .......

Don't pay panhandlers to go away. Most panhandlers aren't homeless, most homeless aren't panhandlers. Homeless people are usually invisible, hiding, in line seeking services and often mentally ill and not in treatment. Panhandlers are usually just career income supplementers and very much housed in subsidized Tenderloin Hotels, not shelters.
On Google Maps desktop or Android (not available on iPhone) click the BLUE BUS STOP ICONS at intersections for a list of bus and train lines at that stop and the scheduled times they arrive!

Cable cars are expensive one way. Get unlimited rides with a MUNI 1,3 or 7 day pass at some Walgreens and the silver outdoor kiosk at Market & Powell which also covers MUNI buses and trains. The Powell/Hyde line is the most interesting of the 2 that run on Powell. California Line west of Powell will take you to Huntington Park and the apartment filmed in Vertigo. If you're in line underground at Powell for a clogged south/outbound MUNI train, just go NORTH/inbound a couple stops to Embarcadero and wait for a fresh empty seat train to turn around :) POR stands for Powell Right (outbound/south) and POL stands for Powell Left (inbound/north) Double Train Letters (JJ or LL) mean 2 cars connected. The ONLY two MUNI buses that run OUTSIDE the city are the SAT/SUN ONLY 76x to Marin Headlands north of the Golden Gate Bridge (highway 101) and the 7days a week 108 to Treasure Island off the Oakland Bay Bridge (highway I-80) which IS actually part of San Francisco.
76 is easiest caught at Powell & Sutter. On the Marin side lets you see incredible mountains with an incredible view of San Francisco and then a quiet beach at the terminus. Bus runs every hour, last inbound to the city is 6:30pm! Miss that and you're STRANDED. 108 starts downtown at the Transbay Terminal next to the Dry Cleaners on Beale. The 5, 38 & 71 can get you there from Powell. The 108 lets you see the former military base on a quick 30 minute loop from beginning to end. You can get off at the main gate and take photos of the city, which offers an incredible view. Amtrak trains don't come directly into city, but their free shuttle buses from Oakland Jack London Square and Emeryville do. Save BART fare and take a shuttle from the Ferry Building, Hyatt/Embarcadero, Powell/Westfield Mall or Caltrain/4th & King dixielandsoftware.net/Amtrak/status/StatusMaps/
Lastly, Caltrain is just a commuter train from SF to Silicon Valley & San Jose. But it connects at SJ to the 17 bus which goes over the mountains to Santa Cruz!

UBER is a terrible company all the way around. Bad to it's riders, drivers and press who tries to investigate it. SideCar and Lyft are much better and cheaper and offer live phone support in emergencies like valuables left in the car. Uber doesn't.
If you MUST drive, get the rentalcars.com app pickup is cheaper at the airport. Never book downtown or at the counter. Or get citycarshare or zipcar app but register weeks in advance. Same with bayareabikeshare.com app.
Support the SFBC Bikes On Board campaign to allow more bikes on Caltrain. It's cheaper than subsidized parking lots and feeder buses or more lanes of concrete.

pol.moveon.org/pac/mandateforchange/petition//comments.ht... is hoping to give support to the new congress. they are asking people to sign a petition and to make it even more personal by having people take a picture of themselves with a poster that shows the issues that are most important to them.
Flickr seems a great place to gather some energy and good photographs for them.
It was a beautiful sunset, and I enjoyed nature surrounded by mountains and a green water lake. At that time, I found three birds sitting on a dead tree. Two were in close distance, and another one was alone. I thought they were also enjoying the utter silence of nature, just like me. At the same time, I felt they might have had their home in that tree leaves when the tree was alive. They might be thinking about their past and their life change, just like I am thinking about my home country, my own city, and my family residing in my new home in the USA. I learned that everyone has his own stories mixing pleasing and painful memories. With the change of time, our destination changes; only we bear the memories with us. But as a global citizen, my life has to be dynamic. For my career and better future life, I have to move from one place to another, and the memories must be the driving force, not the hindrances.

Can public opinion in the US and around the world actually stop a senseless and dangerous military action before it takes place? Maybe. To all appearances, it looked as if the US, the UK and France were all set to launch the quick little military intervention in Syria they had cooked up, a punitive strike enforcing Pres. Obama's red line against chemical weapons. Then the British Parliament blinked. Pres. Obama suddenly reversed course and handed the matter over to the US Congress. And he had a little chat with Vladimir Putin at the G20 meeting.
The MoveOn.org vigil against Syrian bombing Monday night took place at a very fluid time. Based on an apparently off-the-cuff remark by John Kerry, the Russian foreign minister jumped in with a plan for Syria to turn its chemical weapons over to international supervision, a proposal that seemed to quickly gain real traction. At the same time, Harry Reid postponed Thursday's scheduled Senate vote.
As the vigil Monday night on the Capitol Square started to break up, this scene on upper State Street, complete with red lights, seemed to capture the moment when it seemed the rush to bomb Syria might actually be stopped. Will it really happen? Public opinion will be a real factor -- let your Senators and Representative know how you feel. And stay tuned for Pres. Obama's address to the nation tonight.

Yahoo and Flickr don't care
Unfortunately it is obvious that Yahoo wants to turn Flickr into another social network for people (mainly teens and young ) using only tablets and smartphones and whose only interaction is Hi or Lol
Motivated photographers still using computers (with photo-softwares) and large screens are no longer desirable customers....
( nor groups since our invitations are only visible on our "Recent Activity "Page....The oldest are lost ....and everything is done to impede their functioning)
Advertising is much much more lucrative than our Pro accounts .......
How many people know what represents the Beta Page ?? I wonder ?

The day I took this picture, I finally let go of something. I had been holding onto the past, regretting my choices, but then I realized that the "past me" did what she thought was best. Die Beta Version wird im Moment bisher nur in den englischsprachigen Ländern eingesetzt. Für diejenigen, die sie bisher noch nicht gesehen haben, werden die Veränderungen nachfolgend im Einzelnen aufgelistet:
-Unter dem Bild gibt es keinen Platz mehr, um das Bild zu beschreiben;
kein Kommentarfeld/Einladungen/Flickr Award Counter.
-Auf der rechten Seite des Bildes gibt es nur noch ein schmales Kommentarfeld, das NUR die letzten vier Kommentare anzeigt.
-weiße Schrift auf schwarzen und deprimierenden Hintergrund, der den Augen wehtut.
-es ist schwierig, Kommentare, die länger als zwei oder drei Worte sind, zu schreiben.
-Man kann nicht mehr sehen, wer das Bild favorisiert hat.
-Man kann nicht mehr sehen, in welche Gruppen das Bild gestellt wurde (nur noch 8 Gruppen)
-Awards werden nicht mehr gezeigt.

I appeal you all those who plan to quit, to change your mind and stay. You can make use of your accounts just for storage. Make your accounts private, make this image public and use flickr for storage. You can save on external hard disks.
If we check in to a hotel room seeing it's features, should we bear it without a word of protest if they take away the furniture one by one including the bed ? flickr should know that the people who protest are not against 'changes'.
Changes shouldn't steal away the utilities that made people choose flickr.
Protest ! flickr is not just the property of few people who get paid to serve the people that make it. If they offer 1 TB free space for every account, the salaried people who planned it have advertisements in mind. This was a pro-union rally in response to recent union issues in Wisconsin. They support wage earners, labor unions and collective bargaining. They're against corporate tax breaks, large bonuses for company executitves and concentration of wealth in the upper income levels. The rally was sponsored by several groups including MoveOn.org and AFSCME.

Yahoo and Flickr don't care
Unfortunately it is obvious that Yahoo wants to turn Flickr into another social network for people (mainly teens and young ) using only tablets and smartphones and whose only interaction is Hi or Lol
Motivated photographers still using computers (with photo-softwares) and large screens are no longer desirable customers....
( nor groups since our invitations are only visible on our "Recent Activity "Page....The oldest are lost ....and everything is done to impede their functioning)
Advertising is much much more lucrative than our Pro accounts .......
How many people know what represents the Beta Page ?? I wonder ?
