Pics from this afternoon's "We Choose to Fight: Nobody Elected Elon" MoveOn protest at the Department of Treasury.

Just based on what I saw, I'd say 1500 people came to fight back against the oppressive, dehumanizing techniques of the current administration.

I really did not want to go, I feel so scarred after the Proud Boys visits in 2020. But I could not look myself in the mirror and stand back anymore. So just like 1.0, all of these photos are available on Flickr in Creative Commons for media, influencers, and everyday people like me and you to use. Or just take and share any of these. Protest Is Part of the National ‘Families Belong Together’ Day of Action With More Than 710 Events Nationwide

-- On Saturday, June 30th, [residents will rally at various locations as part of the Families Belong Together national day of action to protest the Trump Administration’s policy of forcibly separating children from their parents, the detention of families, and the fact that the Trump Administration has failed to reunite thousands of children with their parents.

The [CITY] protest is part of a National “Families Belong Together” Day of Action featuring more than 710 events in all 50 states and an anchor protest in Lafayette Square in Washington DC. Tens of thousands of people are expected to participate across the country. Specifically, the protesters will demand that the Trump Administration:

•Reunite families now. Permanently end family separation and immediately reunify those that have been separated. ICE must release parents immediately so that ORR can reunify them with their children.

•End family detention. Children and families deserve due process, not indefinite imprisonment. Children do not belong in baby cages and internment-like camps. Family incarceration is not the solution to family separation.

•End ‘Zero Humanity.’ Reverse the Trump administration’s policy that created this crisis and chaos to begin with. Parents should not be criminally prosecuted for doing what all parents do, which is bring their children to safety. This horrible nightmare for families will only end when Trump permanently stops his 100% prosecution policy.

Say it loud, say it clear,

Immigrants are welcome here!

Say it loud, say it clear,

Refugees are welcome here!

Repeat“Courage” (listen):

Courage, my friend, you do not walk alone.

We will, walk with you, and sing your spirit home.

*Replace “Courage” with other words like “families” “immigrants” or “children”

When immigrant rights are under attack,

What will we do? Unite, fight back!

When refugee rights are under attack,

What will we do? Unite, fight back!

Repeat“May The Life I Lead” (listen):

Let the life I lead, speak for me. (x2)

When I get to the end of the road, and lay down my heavy load,

Let the life I lead, speak for me.

El pueblo unido

jamás será vencido!

(The people united, will never be defeated)

RepeatTo the tune of “Blessings” by Chance the Rapper (listen):

We gonna rise up, rise up till it’s won (x2)

When the people rise up, the powers come down (x2)

They try to stop us, but we keep comin’ back (x2)

Love, not hate, makes America great!

Repeat

“We are Family” by Sister Sledge

We are family, I got all my people with me

We are family, Get up ev'rybody and sing

We are family, I got all my people with me

We are family, Get up ev'rybody and sing

As everyone is aware, Hurricane Sandy crashed into the Northeastern states in late October, causing mass devastation. We’ve all seen the news stories of families affected by winds, floods and fire, but some of our own Corizon family has been affected as well. The next two pages share just a few of their stories.

NEW JERSEY

After Hurricane Sandy hit, all of the New Jersey sites were operating on generator power. Wardens worked with Corizon New Jersey leadership and the National Guard to have essential medical staff in each site, despite sporadic phone and cell service from down towers.

The Regional Office did sustain some damage, but medical services at the facilities never ceased. The Corizon New Jersey teams showed exemplary measures of true teamwork.

We would like to thank Gale Gargiulo, VPO, for the updates and are happy to say her family was evacuated and are okay!

NEW YORK

Rikers Island sites were prepared for, but unaffected by the storm. Employees conducted personal fundraising efforts to help those in need in Rockaway, Far Rockaway and Long Beach areas, where some Corizon employees lost everything.

Manhattan Detention Complex also operated on back-up generator service as Sandy hit NYC. Generators provided enough energy for light and heat, so on-duty staff were able to continue service. Many staff were sleeping on cots and working multiple shifts as others were stranded with no transportation to get to work. Even if they had transportation, gas shortages from no electricity to turn on pumps are affecting everyone, even watching some people run out of gas waiting in the gas lines.

Jane Lachner, VPO, has family in Rockaway and Breezy Point where her brother, mother and sister’s homes all had up to 9-feet of water in their basements. Everyone with cars lost them, and many still have no heat or electricity. Her cousin, a fireman in Breezy Point, also lost his home to a fire.

In an email from an organization called MoveOn they said, “People still don’t have power or water, basements are still flooded, gas shortages have made it hard to run generators, and temperatures are getting down into the 30s. MoveOn members who have volunteered have told us about finding families wet and shivering in the cold. It’s gotten so bad that Doctors Without Borders has set up their first-ever disaster relief effort in the US.”

Our continued thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT:

Well, I finally opened my poster tube!

I've avoided it, as I didn't want any damage.

Curiosity finally got the best of me, so...

I have #608 of the signed limited edition!

So cool! :~)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sniffle...

It feels like reality has shifted.

I'm happy for my own reasons, but as I watched the crowd...

The little children, just starting out life, and the weeping old couples, that marched for equality...

I was numbed and humbled!

So sad that, after it's all over, McCain finally showed some of the honor that I used to respect.

He became truly known by the company that he started to keep.

When you shake hands with Rove and Charley Black...

You end up smelling of sulfur!

Hopefully Palin will slink back to her hole!

McCain can again become his own person and be respectable!

I ordered ten of the stickers from Move On and checked out info on the poster version.

I thought about it for two days, but ended up ordering one of them on Saturday.

I managed to get one of the signed first 1000.!

I figured that they'd go fast, but wow!

I'm not sure how I managed to get an order in with such a small window.

They all sold out within 18 to 20 minutes, or something like that.

Jeeze!

Wasn't thrilled about the the donation asking price, but what the hell.

It'll fit right in with the rest of my political collectables.

I would really love one of the signed Hope posters!

It's outrageous what the flippers are asking/selling them for on eBay!

Some sellers are asking thousands for some versions and many of them are selling.

As much as I like the design of all of the Obama posters, it's interesting following the charges of plagiarism online!

Thousands of people gathered in San Francisco for “Families Belong Together”, a protest against the Trump regime’s cruel and inhumane immigration policies. This national day of action took place on June 30, 2018 and was organized by MoveOn, with local partners Indivisible San Francisco, Women's March SF and many more Bay Area civic groups. The morning march started at 10am in Dolores Park and ended in front of San Francisco’s Civic Center, where a rally was held from 11am to 1pm. These photos are from the rally only.

People from diverse ethnic backgrounds participated in this rally, from latinos to muslims and asian-americans. Musicians included folk singer Joan Baez, who led a sing-along of “De Colores”, along with rapper Gina Madrid and singers of all ages. Speakers represented a wide variety of community voices, as well as elected officials such as Mayor Mark Farrell and Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer. Many of our friends joined this rally, including Sheri Cooper, Clancy Bounds, Priscilla Wheeler, Evelyn Messinger and members of the Mill Valley Community Action Network (MVCAN).

People held many creative signs demanding that we reunite families torn apart by our racist government, end their detention and abolish ICE, which carries out the Trump’s “zero tolerance” policies. Others participants focused on defeating Republicans in the midterm elections and taking action to impeach Trump and his accomplices.

"Families Belong Together" brought us all closer together, inspired and informed us, and energized us to push back against hate and racism -- through lpeaceful resistance.

"Message from Mary S.: The future of the Internet as we know it is at stake. The FCC is proposing rules that would kill the open Internet and create a fast lane for companies that can afford big fees and a slow dirt road for the rest of us. We're fighting back--and we're being heard. This Thursday, May 15, the FCC will meet in Washington, DC, to vote on whether or not to advance this proposal. We'll rally in DC, but we won't stop there: We'll gather at FCC offices in 24 cities to send shockwaves through the FCC bureaucracy until they restore real Net Neutrality and protect the Internet for all of us."
