This was I think my 2nd most favorite shot since I started photography. I enrolled in a Basic photography Seminar and we needed to take a picture of anything with Motion. So this is what I shot..

The Pacific Islander Festival at Ski Beach along Mission Bay is one of my favorite events to photograph in San Diego. It has been a staple in San Diego for over 20 years, but this was only my 2nd year in attending it.
The festival is a celebration of the cultures of the indigenous nations of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. It was an amazing weekend of food, dance performances and great photo opportunities!
Thanks guys for all your views, comments and favs!
Happy Travels!

DSC_7405-edit: Shot during a flight from Halifax to Moncton in June 2013, on our way back from Newfoundland. Got this one out of the archives for this week's theme "Motion Freeze" in Moncton Photography.
(yes, I'm watching euro 2008. not missing the english playing, but they're still the best at football songs!)

The annual Gastown Grand Prix provided an opportunity to practice panning. Sometimes I was too slow, sometimes too fast and then I got this shot. I like the motion of the blurred riders and the bold colours throughout.
A wee male chaffinch in flight (Fringilla coelebs)
The male is unmistakable, with his reddish underparts and a blue-grey cap.
Some nice light helped achieve a fast shutter speed, I like wing motion and the diffused buttercups in the background.

Wheels and motion of No 45428 Eric Treacy. one of over 800 manufactured by various contractors. They were in service right to the end of steam in the U K and a few of these very reliable locomotives made it into preservation and still continue to give excellent service.
In preservation a few of these locomotives have been named and No 45428 was named Eric Tracey after the railway photographer and Bishop of Wakefield. In fact he was affectionately known as the "Footplate Bishop", it was sometimes said that he spent more time on the footplate's of locomotives than he did in the pulpit. Many of his photographs are regarded as photographic gems.
On or trip to fontainebleau we had a brief to get some motion shots. This shot of the square outside the chateau in Fontainebleau. Taken just after dark. Originally I took some shots showing the Hotel de Londes. (in the middle of the shot and capturing the moving car headlights. At the end of the session I decided to experiment and put my camera on its tripod and took a shot using HDR mode and a 4 second shutter speed. while the shot was being taken I walked accross the square from right to left. I like the result which gives a different aspect to one of my favourite views in Fontainebleau
