A most assured light from the Wensum was seen
resplendent o'er meadows afar
coming from points east to west that most impressed
the deepest feelings of all we are
Here is found a valley so pure where Wensum doth flow
upon it's reaches flowers so optimistic
for the passer-by thus able to browse silhouette's so sable
of a Norfolk pure and naturalistic
A haven of meadow flower doth teach
by light of rising and setting Suns
a penchant for desire in life and dreamy attire
for we know we are not the only ones!

► █░▓ Yesterday I witnessed and filmed one of the most beautiful weddings of my life... At a moment I thought... well I can’t attend my son’s wedding, but am instead blessed with this one... —big HUGS TO 👑AIDAN AND ANASTASIA👑, our illuminated heroes now united in Christ’s Glory, with my best wishes for their harmonious marriage and a solid place booked in eternity. I may be overemotional, but only the camera's viewfinder prevented a few tears from coming out of my eyes at the sight of this couple in the ceremony. Being intrinsically Christian, it had all the virtues of our Lord — His humility, the modesty, the standing elevation. The greatest pomp & circumstance of which were — but who ever needs more! — the firm, solemn, stately nobility of the 21 year old bridegroom, and the radiating, uplifted beauty of the 19 year old bride. To them I congratulate and devote this upload, with Vera’s short story (originally in Russian) that can serve as a reminder for the moments of temptation which are not to our will’s short-lived laps. Those moments are bound to come...

Everything that happens, it all leads to... something.
The commuter train is delayed for about 20 minutes, and everyone on the platform is tired and grumpy, after work, wanting to go home, so we're waiting. No one announces when the train will arrive, like "information coming up." Finally, the train arrives, everyone sullenly boards, sits frowning, waiting for departure. And then a breathless, ruddy-cheeked guy with a cake tied with a ribbon rushes into the car and shouts into the phone: "Can you imagine, today is the most incredible day of my life! I was just running out of inertia, in despair, I was terribly late! And they are standing there, waiting for me! I'm coming! I'll make it to you on time! Hurray, right?!"
And we all smiled and relaxed, as if we'd all been waiting on the platform specifically so he could get there with his cake. Here we are, rolling, smiling, carrying a cake...

The most strenuous hike i have made during my vacation was the Tachäl Dhäl (Sheep Mountain) Ridge. It is a category very difficult. Used to American classifications I thought it wouldn't be that bad, but from the first moment it was steep, and sometimes very steep, and sometimes quite dangerous. So completely exhausted I arrived at the top, some 1300 meters higher. The view in every direction was the reward. And I stayed up there for an hour (I think I even slept, because I was wasted). But with Dall sheep and Lake Kluane close to me and this mountain view I didn't care. After 10 hours I arrived exhausted at my car, even the descend was a tough one!
To make this picture I had to wait quite a long time, because the clouds were covering the peak almost always, or there was so much shade It didn't look interesting. But when it finally came, this was the result! I by the way made two pictures with my 200 mm, and stitched them to make this panorama. More pics from this fantastic hike will follow sometime!
From 11 june till the 25th of July, I traveled in Canada. Starting in Brighton Ontario, where my sister lives at the border of an amazing part of lake Ontario, I flew to Vancouver, and Vancouver island where I took the boat at Port Hardy to take part 1 of the Inside passage, to Prince Rupert in BC. Two days later I took part 2 to Skagway in Alaska. When coming from Skagway Alaska, you can take the train to Carcross. it is a very scenic train ride that halts at Bennet lake.
And then to Whitehorse and further on by car to Kluane National park in the Yukon district. Whitehorse is situated at the border of the Yukon. From there I flew back to Vancouver, rented a car, and traveled three weeks in the BC- and Alberta Rockies, visiting the famous, and less famous Nature parks like Banff and Jasper. Last few days back to Brighton Ontario to enjoy lake Ontario once more, before going home. A picture of my itinerary can be found on Facebook (www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152940536581759&set...).
4000 pictures later, it is quite a task to show the right stuff, although the stunning scenery guarantees at least a few great shots to share. Objective will be to make a book (for myself mainly), and that might take a while.
I hope you will enjoy the impression of my travel, one that equals earlier journeys to Alaska and south America, this journey was the first in the digital era, and equally intensive because of all the hiking activities every day on and on. I loved every minute of it.
Most of the Autumn colour would be gone in the cooler areas, but my neighbour's tree was late changing. Even though we are now in Winter it is putting on a beautiful display of colour.
So why do we close our eyes
When we pray, cry, kiss, dream...
Maybe the most beautiful things in this life
Are felt and never seen

Possibly the most photographed tree in Scotland? This was taken the evening before my Devil's Pulpit shot. I had finally arrived at the B&B but was pretty late and had the idea of trying to shoot this tree as it wasn't that far away. Unfortunately the weather was so good and it was a Saturday so there were families having evening meals and kids climbing over the roots so it wasn't until after the sun had set that I bagged a shot. The roots were nearly surrounded by water but not 100% hence the crop. I managed to drag more detail out of the shadows than I was expecting 9( credit to the Canon sensor in the R5) but purposely left it almost silhouetted as I thought it looked natural. I'm can't pretend it's in any way 'original' but never shot it before and, considering there wasn't a cloud in the sky I liked the early Blue Hour light.
Thanks for viewing.

CC Most Versatile - Try Something Different
CC Rainbow - Blue
I saw a video a few days ago that mentioned a camera setting that I hadn't noticed before. I set the camera profile to Monochrome and then went further into the menu to choose Blue Toning. I really liked what I saw on the LCD display. But when I downloaded the shots into Lightroom Classic I lost the blue toning, only got the monochrome. Apparently third party processors can't read all of the in-camera presets. I tried to mimic the effect using manual adjustments. So I did try something different, it just didn't work great! lol : )

A rose is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae, or the flower it bears. There are over a hundred species and thousands of cultivars.
They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing or trailing with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds.
My Website:
"The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them -- words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for want of an understanding ear."

Most mornings I wake up feeling BLAH lol. Hitting the snooze button. Dragging myself down to the kitchen needing my coffee. But today I woke up before my alarm and just full of life and of course feeling really cute for some reason.
Maybe it’s the chill in the air? Could be that I’m getting excited for the holidays? Who knows but regardless I think today is going to be a great day.

The stained glass windows of Notre-Dame, particularly the three rose windows, are among the most famous features of the cathedral. The west rose window, over the portals, was the first and smallest of the roses in Notre-Dame. It is 9.6 metres in diameter, and was made in about 1225, with the pieces of glass set in a thick circular stone frame. None of the original glass remains in this window; it was recreated in the 19th century.
The two transept windows are larger and contain a greater proportion of glass than the rose on the west façade, because the new system of buttresses made the nave walls thinner and stronger. The north rose was created in about 1250, and the south rose in about 1260. The south rose in the transept is 12.9 metres in diameter; with the claire-voie surrounding it, a total of 19 metres. It was given to the cathedral by King Louis IX of France, known as Saint Louis.
The south rose has 94 medallions, arranged in four circles, depicting scenes from the life of Christ and those who witnessed his time on earth. The inner circle has twelve medallions showing the twelve apostles. During later restorations, some of these original medallions were moved to circles farther out. The next two circles depict celebrated martyrs and virgins. The fourth circle shows twenty angels, and saints important to Paris, such as Saint Denis, Margaret the Virgin with a dragon, and Saint Eustace. The third and fourth circles also have some depictions of Old Testament subjects. The third circle has some medallions with scenes from the New Testament Gospel of Matthew which date from the last quarter of the 12th century. These are the oldest glass in the window.
Additional scenes in the corners around the rose window include Jesus's Descent into Hell, Adam and Eve, the Resurrection of Christ. Saint Peter and Saint Paul are at the bottom of the window, and Mary Magdalene and John the Apostle at the top.
Above the rose was a window depicting Christ triumphant seated in the sky, surrounded by his Apostles. Below are sixteen windows with painted images of Prophets. These were painted during the restoration in the 19th century by Alfred Gérenthe, under the direction of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, based upon a similar window at Chartres Cathedral.
The south rose had a difficult history. In 1543 it was damaged by the settling of the masonry walls, and not restored until 1725–1727. It was seriously damaged in the French Revolution of 1830. Rioters burned the residence of the archbishop, next to the cathedral, and many of the panes were destroyed. The window was rebuilt by Viollet-le-Duc in 1861 who rotated it by fifteen degrees to give it a clear vertical and horizontal axis, and replaced the destroyed pieces of glass with new glass in the same style. The window now contains both medieval and 19th-century glass.
In the 1960s, after three decades of debate, it was decided to replace many of the 19th-century grisaille windows in the nave designed by Viollet-le-Duc with new windows. The new windows, made by Jacques Le Chevallier, are without human figures and use abstract designs and colour to try to recreate the luminosity of the cathedral's interior in the 13th century.
The fire left the three great medieval rose windows mostly intact, but with some damage. The rector of the cathedral noted that one rose window would have to be dismantled, as it was unstable and at risk. Most of the other damaged windows were of much less historical value.
In early 2024 Macron proposed removing six of the seven undamaged 19th-century stained glass windows created by Eugene Viollet-le-Duc in the chapels along the south aisle of the nave, and replacing them with new windows with more contemporary designs. He invited contemporary artists to submit designs for the new windows. This proposal inspired a backlash in the press, and 140,000 people signed a petition to keep the old windows. The plan for contemporary windows was rejected by the French Commission on Architectural Monuments and Patrimony in July 2024.

The most unique feature about this photo is that I managed to capture a panorama without a crane in sight. Downtown Boise construction has been so aggressive over the last decade that the skyline changes monthly. The newest building (still under construction) from this point of view is on the right with the Clearwater logo, which includes a new underground mass transit bus station. The Idaho State Capitol building is tucked away to the right of the Zions Bank tower. There are several buildings under construction behind camera, and several more planned that haven't broken ground yet.
The sky was filled with a smokey haze from distant forest fires, but I believe it actually helped with the exposure.

Possibly the most recognizeable feature of the Milky Way for northern hemisphere views during the summer, the constellation Scorpius is shown prominently in the image from May 2020. Shot with my new polarscope, my Canon 70D, and a 50 mm lens, this is actually 3 exposures of 90 s at ISO 800 and f2.8. This was my first attempt to concentrate on a sky-only image with the new mount. Arcturus anchors the constellation, but the Messier object (globular cluster) M4 is also nearly as prominent in the constellation. The dust clouds extending over most of the constellation are also prominent. The other feature that caught my attention in this capture is the three stars (apparently) closely packed in the upper left of the main cluster of Scorpius. The color is partly a result of capturing the image low on the horizon. Taken from Oak Flats in New Mexico.
Peace and Cheers!
It was raining most of yesterday so I just had a walk around my local woods and enjoyed the sight and scent of the Bluebells. Britain is supposed to be the only place in the world where Bluebells carpet the woodland floor in spring. A botanist friend once told me that he thought this was because we eliminated Wild Boar at an early date in Britain whereas they have always roamed free in Continental woodlands, and Boar love to eat Bluebell bulbs. I wasn't sure about this but a few years ago someone bought one of the most spectacular Bluebell woods in the area and let several pigs roam free in there. As I drove past the wood last week I could not see a single Bluebell inside the enclosure yet there were still lots outside the fence. So maybe as our recently-released Wild Boars spread our Bluebell carpets may disappear. I rather take Bluebells for granted as they are so common in the woods near me, but a friend in Australia told me she wanted to visit Britain in early May, mainly to see the Bluebells. Then again my daughter visited Japan mainly to see the Cherry blossoms.
Sometimes the empty views give me the most pleasure.

Most of the time I photograph reflections in water when there is no or little wind resulting in reflections as a mirror. Sometimes people ask me if it ever is windy in Groningen. Well yes, and so here is the proof... :-)

One of the most iconic photo-spots in Germany. It is far out in the East, out of (almost) everyone's way. But we made the effort to get there. I planned to shoot through sunset into the blue hour. But the weather gods weren't quite with us that evening... except for a few brief moments before sunset when the bridge was lit up dramatically. Those few moments were totally worth it!

Oh! And a big sorry to everyone! I know, I have kept you waiting a long time for a new image. That's because I was extremely busy with many things lately. But big promise for 2018: I will edit and upload more often! Still have many sleeping beauties on my hard disk and quite a few new photo-journeys planned. So watch this space! I am still alive :-)
Berghain is the most well-known club in Berlin - and also one of the worldwide most famous clubs. It’s the church of Techno with the best sound system you can get. So be prepared to dance for hours and listen to top quality music. Inside this abandoned power plant you’ll find two different clubs: Berghain and Panorama Bar, which are separated by a set of stairs. If you’re the kind of person who appreciates good techno music, you’ll feel like you’re in paradise once you step inside Berghain. Their line up is always impeccable and you’ll probably listen to the best DJ's blasting their best tunes out loud, every weekend, from Friday 'til Monday morning. Inside Panorama Bar, you’ll find a more cheerful atmosphere, where they usually play all variations of house music. It’s the perfect place to have a drink, calm down and then go back to Berghain.
Most of the leaves have fallen and with recent high winds, they have blown away.

The most moving shrine to see in the precinct is Ashifunesha Shrine (“Ship of Reeds Shrine”) – a rare shrine branch which recalls the god protecting the prematurely born brother of the goddess Amaterasu, who, unable to receive the blessings of this world, passed over to the ghost world in a ship made of reeds. The shrine is thus for prayers of the protection of the soul of the departed foetus.
