The most famous private game reserve of all. Sabi Sands Game Reserve, adjacent to South Africa's flagship Kruger National Park, offers a safari experience found nowhere else in the world. Game viewing possibilities are simply unparalleled, including the much sought after 'Big 5'.

The most exciting event at our new home this past year (other than the King Cobra in the yard) was the hoopoe nest in the roof of our house. It was a delight to watch these beautiful birds as mom and dad would constantly be foraging for the nestlings. The main course seemed to be spiders. After the nestlings fledged they would sit on our front porch just inches away from the windows.
Wikipedia: The Eurasian hoopoe (Upupa epops) is the most widespread species of the genus Upupa. It is a distinctive cinnamon colored bird with black and white wings, a tall erectile crest, a broad white band across a black tail, and a long narrow downcurved bill. Its call is a soft "oop-oop-oop". It is native to Europe, Asia and the northern half of Africa.
Conservation status: Least Concern
Most of the time, this year's kits would just pop up from their borrow and pop back down. This time the kit jumped. I was shooting with pre-capture (which records photos before you press the shutter button) so was able to get the jump early on.
The most striking feature of Messe Basel - New Hall designed by Herzog & De Meuron and opened in 2013 is the cladding made of perforated aluminium skin with modular undulating stripes. In the centre of the structure there is a square, called Messeplatz, naturally lit through a large open circular ceiling.

Most of the times when I go out shooting, I hope for something and often settle for less, and sometimes nothing at all. This time I got more than I wished for. This little guy was just about done with a night of hunting and decided to have a bite out of its last catch before resting for the day.
We can see on this shot the portion of the prey that was set aside to finish later. That is when I decided to leave, the rest was probably a very quiet owl going to rest.
This will most probably be the last of my trip postings.....so I though I'd go out with a dramatic type shot ....I had made a few b/w with the purple and orange filters on.....I love the detail of this magnificent old hotel against the big and puffy clouds....
Thank you for all of the great comments you have left me regarding my trip to Ottawa and Montreal.... you are the best.
The most photographed corner in Markyate, Hertfordshire. It is truly a central location. Straight ahead, the pharmacy (and, farther away, the "fish and chips" place); to the left, a pub; behind, the bakery.
One of the most beautiful towns in the area of Argolis (in eastern Peloponnese) as well as one of the most romantic cities all over Greece, Nafplio was the first capital of the newly born Greek state between 1823 and 1834.
According to mythology, the town was founded by Nafplios, the son of god Poseidon and the daughter of Danaus (Danaida) Anymone. The town’s history traces back to the prehistoric era when soldiers from here participated in the Argonautic expedition and the Trojan War alike. The town declined during the Roman times and flourished again during the Byzantine times. Frankish, Venetian and Turkish conquerors left their mark in the town and strongly influenced its culture, architecture and traditions during the centuries. Ancient walls, medieval castles, monuments and statues, Ottoman fountains and Venetian or neoclassical buildings mesmerize the visitor with their unique architecture and beauty.
the Palamidi Castle, which proudly stands 216 m above sea level. In order to reach it you have to climb all of its 999 steps carved into the rock. Not to worry, though: the view from above here is totally rewarding! Venture into a place drenched in history, where the famous hero of the Greek Revolution Theodore Kolokotronis had been imprisoned; it seems as if its battlements -named after the renowned ancient heroes Themistocles, Achilles, Fokion, Leonidas, Epaminondas and Miltiades- are still carefully protecting the city. Agios Andreas battlement built at the top of the Castle by Venetian conquerors undoubtedly offers stunning views to the Argolic gulf and the Mycenaean plain.
Akronafplia is the historic rock at the foot of Palamidi hill, also known by its Turkish name “Its Kale” (meaning inner castle). Inhabited since prehistoric times, the peninsula consists of three levels, among which stand three independent castles, the oldest being the western one. It was there that the ancient acropolis was situated, fortified with polygonic Cyclopean walls.

That is the actual James Bond Aston Martin DB5 as first seen in Goldfinger in 1965. Probably the most iconic and famous car in the world and likely priceless too. If you google that licence registration BMT216A, it will confirm that it also appeared in Thunderball, Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die. Or you can see the registration here -

And now here it is on the Flickr page of old Magoo - who’d have thunk! A scoop or what? Here it has its latest modification to its front bumper - a guy in.a luminous orange jacket trying to take a photograph.
So how did old Magoo bumbling around with his white stick and who can’t tell a farmers truck from a pedal cycle happen to bump into it in the back of beyond on the Brecon Beacons, how did he know what it was and more importantly, is that the real James Bond behind the wheel?
So there I was on a very quiet mountain road in the middle of nowhere when I hear the throaty roar of a vehicle coming up behind me. The road isn’t wide enough for man and car so I step off to allow it through, but it pulls to a halt alongside.…
“You’re looking very official by the side of the road” Says James Bond. It puzzles me for a second and I realise he must be referring to my luminous coat. (I later realise he must have been looking for the camera crew and thought I was with them).
“Oh the jacket” I say “It’s so I can be seen by cars because I can’t see them” and I hold up my white stick. And then, listening to the sweet purr of the engine I say “That’s a beautiful sounding car you have there, what is it?
“An Aston Martin DB5” Bond says.
“Wow” says I “How old?”
“59 years” replies 007 without hesitation because if anyone would know he would, right? “It’s the James Bond car” he adds.
I wrongly presume he means ‘like the James Bond car’ not the actual car itself and so like an idiot I ask - “How long have you had it?”
“We are actually filming here for a couple of days” says James by way of explanation.
“Are you James Bond then?” I ask with a wry grin.
“Well, sort of “ he replies with a chuckle. I expect he was being covert. I’m stood there close enough to touch the car and am wondering whether or not this is Daniel Craig or the new Bond guy driving - I certainly can’t tell, the car is just a fuzzy haze to me and the driver non existent, when he politely excuses himself and drives off. I’m left wondering whether he was pulling old Magoo’s leg or whether this really was the real Bond car and then feel more than a little disappointed that I didn’t get a photo. Wouldn’t you?? Let’s face it, it’s not the sort of thing you expect is it?
I continue on my deflated way when after about half a mile I pass a group of people by the side of the road. There is absolutely never anyone here and even though I cannot see their equipment I presume it must be the film crew. I wander on thinking they must be waiting for me to walk on through so they can do the take, which means the Licence to Kill and his car must be up ahead somewhere - and sure enough, a couple hundred yards on I catch that sweet throaty purr again.
“Would you mind if I take a photograph of your car Mr Bond, so I can see it on the big screen when I get home?”
“Be my guest” says James. Realising I was probably holding things up and I would have only time for one shot I quickly took it and wandered up to his window and showed him the back of the camera and asked if it looked okay?
“Haha” Laughs the Licence 2 Kill “It’s right in the middle”. Well, that was good enough for me, a crackshot secret agent with such an eye for the ladies and who bumps off global super villains for fun should be able to judge a photo right? And after thanks, I wanders on me way, and when I was clear he must have got the ‘camera - action’ instruction because the pedal hit the metal and it leapt away towards the cameras with a glorious roar.
So was that the real James Bond, or another actor filling in for him? I have absolutely no idea, couldn’t see him at all - but I’ll go this far……it wasn’t Sean Connery or Roger Moore, I would have recognised those voices for sure…….
A big thanks to the photography gods for causing James Bond to stop and talk, because if he hadn’t I would have had no idea there was filming taking place and wouldn’t have got the shot - and a double big thanks to 007 for being sociable and letting me take the photo! If you see a tramp in a bright orange coat cluttering up the movie - that’ll be old Magoo……
When it comes to birds, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Our Hahns Macaw will tell you, I'm the most beautiful bird there is! Of course, our 5 other birds say they are the most beautiful as well.
This is the first time I have been able to capture a clear closeup of our Hahns Macaw. He is like Micky Mouse on speed! One day I'll post a video...he doesn't stand still long and is constantly jabbering about something!
Wishing all a fabulous week!
Fougéres' most famous monument and attraction is the Château de Fougéres, a medieval stronghold built atop a granite ledge, which was part of the Duchy of Brittany's ultimately unsuccessful defence against French aggression, and part of a tripartite with Vitré.
The castle is one of the most impressive French castles, occupying an area of 2 hectares (4.9 acres), or even for some "the largest medieval fortress of Europe." It consists of three enclosures whose walls are beautifully preserved. If the seigniorial is ruined, the thirteen towers still rise with majesty. Some can be visited (the Hallay Tower and Tower of the Hague (12th century), Raoul Tower (15th century) and the Mélusine Tower). At the entrance, is a triple watermill.
The castle and its surroundings has been classified as a historic monument by list of 1862, by order of 4 July 1928 and by order of 26 February 1953.

Most festivities are marked by drawing of these colourful rangolis outside houses and open courtyards. It’s quite an art and girls grow up learning it from their mothers. It’s mostly geometric and floral.
The basic designs are put in place using a single white coloured rangoli and then the other colours are spread. When the patterns are large, many from the family, community, neighbourhood participate to spread the colours. Here you see two children doing that, their bright shirts adding colour to colour.
Shot on iphone.
I am wrapping this series with this submission. I have truly enjoyed walking around holding a piece of glass lens that holds invisible power to capture colour that celebrates life, in love and pain, making everyday a special day.
Thank you so much for all your love.
Like most of Galapagos, Sombrero Chino (Chinese Hat) is volcanic in origin. The exploration path starts with a gorgeous beach, bright red Sally Lightfoot crabs and marine iguanas. The path goes past a colony of endemic Galapagos sea lions before passing a lava field: look for the lava cactus growing in the cracks. On the beach, keep your eyes open for the American Oystercatcher, a wading bird with a distinctive orange beak. On the trail, you may see lava lizards.
The most opulent public bathroom in the country can be found at the beautiful Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai. Read below for more information.
Wikipedia: Wat Rong Khun, better known as the White Temple, is a Buddhist temple in Pa O Don Chai, Mueang District, Chiang Rai province, Thailand. Situated outside the city of Chiang Rai, the temple attracts a large number of visitors, both Thai and foreign, making it one of Chiang Rai's most visited attractions. The White Temple was created by master Chalermchai Kositpipat, the national artist who designed, constructed, and opened it to visitors in 1997.
A structure that stands out because of its color is the rest rooms building. Another very ornately decorated structure, this golden building represents the body, whereas the white ubosot represents the mind. The gold symbolizes how people focus on worldly desires and money. The white building represents the idea to make merit and to focus on the mind, instead of material things and possession.
I spent most of the last week in the pretty and historic village of Huriel in the Allier department in central France. The centre of the village is very old and was once surrounded by ramparts. My father lives in a house somewhere in the middle of the image.
The POV was from a tower built in the 12th and 13th centuries, which at 30 meters gave an excellent view of the village though the stairs to the top were hard work I will post a shot of the tower very soon
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.
The most striking feature that everyone most often sees on a Ring-necked Duck is the white ring on its beak and not the ring on its neck that gave its name. The cinnamon colored ring on the neck is not always visible and the sun has to shine in a particular angle to make it so. People sometime wonder why is it called Ring-necked when the ring is clearly on its beak. This photo was taken in 2014 when the entire marina was frozen solid except for one little area at the entrance of the dock which was kept ice free and the duck was actively feeding in the area. Most of our lizard orchids haven't opened their strange flowers yet, but this particular plant has started to unfurl its long, coiled lip. Its signature smell of male goats is already there as well ;-)

Most of you know by now how I love 'playing' with light, a never ending beautiful challenge, food for my creative soul, which I so desperately need at the moment...
Each flower or object, most definitely people, seem to have a different 'personality' which I'm trying to capture.
Alstroemeria, the genus named after the Swedish baron Alströmer who brought them back from a trip to South America in 1753.
Also called the Peruvian Lily or Inca Lily, is a South American genus of about 50 species of flowering plants.
The flower, which resembles a miniature lily, is very popular for bouquets and flower arrangements in the commercial cut flower trade.
They have a vase life of about two weeks.

Same bridge, different direction. Taken from the minaret of the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque. Well worth the entrance fee for the mosque and minaret climb, and the mosque advisors are so helpful to us togs, although a tip for anyone venturing there.
Don't climb the minaret with a backpack on. If you meet anyone coming down it's impossible to pass or even turn round in the spiralling stone tower. I had to descend backwards a third of the height... this is a public information notice for any accident prone togs you may know.
The most attractive feet for potential mates are those of a more turquoise blue, rather than a deep blue. The shade of blue is indicative of how good a male ia at feeding himself, being linked to the amount of food it consumes.
"The most common cause of a yellow sky is storm clouds. The clouds scatter the blue light coming from the sun, and this makes the light look yellow to us. Dust storms, pollen, and smoke in the atmosphere can also cause it to look yellow outside for the same reason: they scatter the blue light in the sky."

Bosnia and Herzegovina often known informally as Bosnia, is a country in Southeast Europe, located within the Balkans. Sarajevo is the capital and largest city. Bosnia is not entirely a landlocked country as it may appear on a map – to the south it has a narrow coast on the Adriatic Sea long and surrounds the town of Neum. Many people still associate the country with the break-up of Yugoslavia in the heartbreaking civil war of the 1990's. The scars from that time are all still visible. But today's tourist are likely to remember the country for its friendly, modest and warm people. The country has turned into an exciting and versatile travel destination, with beautiful mountains, numerous medieval castle ruins, seven major rivers, impressive waterfalls. Overall, nearly 50% of Bosnia is forested. A country where Eastern and Western civilizations have met over the centuries. Today integration into the European Union is one of the main political objectives of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The local currency is the Bosnian mark. The euro is also accepted. Islam is the majority faith in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also Orthodox Christianity, and Roman Catholicism are all present. The wild and unspoilt nature makes it an ideal place for both adventurers and nature lovers. Mostar is the largest city in Hercegovina, with a small but thoroughly enchanting old town centre. Mostar has been most famous for this beautiful historic Ottoman-style Stari Most bridge, which spanned the Neretva river in what is considered the historic center of the city.
Mostar is situated on the Neretva River. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva. The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans (Turkish tribes) in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most visited landmarks. The bridge was destroyed during the Bosnian War. The European Union has spent more than $ 15 million on restoration. The restoration was finished in 2004. In 2005, UNESCO inscribed the Old Bridge and its closest vicinity onto the World Heritage List. Today it is the city’s crown jewel, a grand stone bridge which sweeps across the water, making it the most photographed landmark in the entire country for good reason.
The most beautiful rock town in the Bohemian Paradise, at least in my humble opinion... even if it is a little over-processed.
This is the first phone camera picture I've ever uoloaded.
Mallards are the most numerous wildfowl in Britain and can be found almost anywhere there is water, so it is not surprising that most people are familiar with it.
The male, or drake, is very recognisable nearly all year round by its metallic green head, brown breast that is delineated from the head by a white neck ring, grey body and black tail. During the summer months, June to September, the drake moults and looks very similar to the female - this is called "eclipse" plumage - and offers better camouflage until their flight feathers have been fully replaced.
The female, or duck, is mainly brown, with blackish mottling and has a plain buff coloured head with a dark line through the eye.
Both sexes have a purple-blue speculum. Further, they both have orange-red legs and a yellow-olive coloured bill, but the duck's bill is much duller.
