I get to bed later than most people to see the moon and stars in the night sky and then wake up earlier than most people to watch the sunrise and then set, so that I can share it with others. This is the pleasure in my life!!! :)

Brooding skies over Iceland’s most famous national park. We’ve visited twice, and both times the beauty and wonders that we saw were just incredible! “Þingvellir is now a national park in the municipality of Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland, about 40 km (25 miles) northeast of Iceland's capital, Reykjavík. Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological significance, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. The park lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. To its south lies Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.”
The white buildings are the old Parliament buildings, and you can also see a Lutheran church nearby.

The most noticeable characteristics of the American red squirrel are the tail and the eye ring. The tree squirrel's tail is bushy and dark red with hints of a white outline. The eye ring is a thick, white circle around the rodent's black eyes. American red squirrels are about 12 inches and have grayish, red, or rust-colored fur with a white belly. Sometimes a black stripe can be seen on the sides.

The most iconic structure in all of Marken is certainly the so-called Paard van Marken ("Horse of Marken"), a monumental lighthouse that rises from the easternmost point of the peninsula; the current structure dates from 1839. The peculiar name stems from its shape, which consists of a 54-ft. (16m) tower attached to two pyramidal-roofed houses. Since the Paard van Marken is now a private residence, it is closed to the public.
Kuznetsky Most is one of the most beautiful pedestrian streets in the historical center of Moscow.
The street got its modern - and at the same time historical - name thanks to the Kuznetsky Bridge across the Neglinnaya River. Today, Kuznetsky Most Street attracts citizens with its high-quality landscaping, an abundance of architectural monuments and an unusual relief: due to the significant difference in heights between Petrovka and Rozhdestvenka, the city landscape looks especially picturesque.
Kuznetskaya Sloboda on the high bank of the Neglinnaya River - Neglinnaya Upper - appeared in the 12th century, but its heyday came only at the end of the 15th, when the Cannon Yard was built in the vicinity, and the Moscow prince Ivan III ordered to settle in it blacksmiths and grooms who served new production. At the turn of the 15th-16th centuries, Novgorod and Pskov were annexed to the Moscow principality, and craftsmen of various professions from these cities were moved to the Neglinny Upper.
In 1737, the street burned out during the Trinity fire, but rather quickly new buildings were built on it, in which foreign shops began to be located. Gradually, the street turned into the abode of foreign trade: the French showed particular zeal, opening fashion and haberdashery shops here, thanks to which Kuznetsky Most became the main shopping street in Moscow. During World War II and the fire of 1812, it practically did not suffer from the fire, since the French guard took over the protection of the business of compatriots. After the war, trade flourished again, and many fashionable shops were opened on it (almost all of them were foreign, most of them were French). The abundance of foreign shops made Kuznetsky Most the most fashionable and aristocratic street in Moscow, which it remained until the 1917 Revolution.
During the Soviet era, the street lost part of the historical buildings, many buildings were rebuilt, and the street gradually took on a modern look.
After the reconstruction carried out in 2012, the Kuznetsky Most section from Bolshaya Dmitrovka to Rozhdestvenka became pedestrian.
Today Kuznetsky Most Street is a well-maintained pedestrian zone, where city holidays and festivals are often held.
Despite the losses of the Soviet years, a large number of architectural monuments have been preserved on it: tenement houses, partially preserved city estates and passages. Among them are famous Moscow sights: the building of the Moscow International Trade Bank, Khomyakov's trading house and others.
Most mornings in the San Francisco Bay area, an epic battle is being fought, over and over again: The sun fights the fog for dominance. Especially during Winter and Spring, it's not at all a given who will win, even though the odds are on the side of the sun.
This is a scene from one of the battlegrounds of this fight–shot in the morning hours, up in the hills of Berkeley, California.
Like most of Galapagos, Sombrero Chino (Chinese Hat) is volcanic in origin. The exploration path starts with a gorgeous beach, bright red Sally Lightfoot crabs and marine iguanas. The path goes past a colony of endemic Galapagos sea lions before passing a lava field: look for the lava cactus growing in the cracks. On the beach, keep your eyes open for the American Oystercatcher, a wading bird with a distinctive orange beak. On the trail, you may see lava lizards.

the most precisely articulated national purpose in recorded history. Not only is it a famous statement of purpose: it is also an admirable statement of purpose. Prior to July 4, 1776, the national purpose of nations had been to dominate... The American national purpose was the opposite: to liberate from domination; to set men free. All men are created equal.
We not only have a national purpose; we have one of such aspiration, such potentiality, such power of hope that we refer to it — or used to — as the American Dream :-)

Helgeland is the most southerly district in Northern Norway. Generally speaking, Helgeland refers to the part of Nordland county that is located south of the Arctic Circle. It is bordered in the north by the Saltfjellet mountains and Svartisen glacier, which form a natural border with the Salten district. In the south, Helgeland borders Trøndelag county.
The district covers an area of about 18,832 square kilometres (7,271 sq mi), with nearly 79,000 inhabitants. There are four towns in the district: from south to north these are Brønnøysund, Mosjøen, Sandnessjøen, and Mo i Rana.
Helgeland is characterized by pointed mountains and Strandflaten, a shallow lowland area, sometimes just above the sea surface, and sometimes just below the surface. People living on the coast have settled on this lowland (while inland towns, such as Mo and Mosjøen, are situated in valleys). A consequence of the Strandflaten is thousands of islands, and shallow waters going far into the sea. This has provided some shelter from stormy weather, which might occur in winter. Some islands are fairly large, often with unique mountains, such as Torghatten, De syv søstre (The Seven Sisters), Hestmannen, Rødøyløva (in Rødøy), Dønnamannen (picture), and Træna. There are several sea bird colonies, such as Lovund (picture) with thousands of puffins. The Solvær Islands (Solværøyene) in Lurøy consists of about 300 small and flat islands and has the highest densities of Eurasian eagle-owls in Europe.
The highest mountains, are located inland, where Oksskolten is the highest mountain in Northern Norway. There are many valleys inland, such as the Dunderland Valley, Vefsndalen, and Hattfjelldal. Røssvatnet is the second largest lake in Norway. There are three large national parks in Helgeland: Saltfjellet–Svartisen National Park (partly), Børgefjell National Park (partly), and Lomsdal–Visten National Park (created in May 2009).
Since most migrant waterfowl have moved north of Iowa now, chances are very good that this trumpeter swan pair will be nesting right here at Cardinal Marsh this year. This would be the fourth year in row for trumpeter swans to stay here and nest for the summer following a long and sad 150 year hiatus as they were hunted to the brink of extinction during the pioneer era.
Most of the Great Salt Lake shoreline is muddy and difficult to access. If you look carefully, you will see some white near the water; in this case, it's not salt but seafoam.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.
No comments today – just enjoy :-)

The Wadi Rum desert, which in Arabic means “Valley of the Moon”, is one of the most spectacular and breathtaking environments in the entire Middle East and even the great Lawrence of Arabia defined this area as “a vast, resonant with distant echoes and divine”.
The Wadi Rum area still preserves numerous traces left by the civilizations that inhabited it: rock carvings, Thamudene inscriptions and even a half-ruined Nabatean temple.
Sint Nicholaskerk is the most seen and at the same time overlooked church in Amsterdam as well as being one its most recent constructions, no one can miss this iconic structure upon arrival to the city walking from Centraal Station your eye is immediately drawn to it at 58 m in height it towers over the city skyline.
This Roman Catholic Church was designed by Architect Adrianus Bleijs and is a nod to the past combining elements of neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance styles, completed in 1887 it was made a minor Basilica in 2012.
The church is dedicated to the 4th century charitable patron saint of children that became our Santa Claus as well as the patron saint of sailors and prostitutes, another winning combination.
In the Netherlands Santa Claus is known as Sinterklaas and a feast has been celebrated for over 700 years in his name and adopted in the early part of 20th century the tradition of leaving small gifts in children’s shoes was practiced on Dec 6th which has evolved now to become a Dec 5th evening tradition of gathering of family and friends to exchange gifts and laughter.
While Dutch Sinterklaas celebrations are mainly for the children its adult component is an annual grievance poem written to the recipient that must rhyme and be read out loud by the subject at the evening party all in good fun but beware you may get as good as you give.

(literally 'Old Bridge'), also known as Mostar Bridge,
is a rebuilt 16th-century Ottoman bridge in the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina that crosses the river Neretva and connects the two parts of the city.
The Old Bridge stood for 427 years, until it was destroyed on 9 November 1993 by Croat paramilitary forces during the Croat–Bosniak War.
Subsequently, a project was set in motion to reconstruct it; the rebuilt bridge opened on 23 July 2004.
The bridge is considered an exemplary piece of Balkan Islamic architecture and was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1557.
It was designed by Mimar Hayruddin, a student and apprentice of architect Mimar Sinan who built many of the Sultan's key buildings in Istanbul and around the empire.

The most accepted and supported population theory, as well as oral tradition, states that King Hotu Matua’a arrived on Easter Island coming from the mythical island of Hiva, possibly in the Marquesas Islands, at some point between the 6th and 8th centuries AD. It’s believed that when Hotu Matua’a and his men (around 100) arrived on Anakena beach, carrying with them all the necessary goods to start a civilization.
Probably one of the most photographed, most tourist packed and most overrated locations in Norway, in my opinion.
We were leaving Lofoten when I took this picture. It was a brilliant sunset and I hadn't yet been able to take that "classic" Lofoten picture. When I saw this view here I just stopped and took some pictures, because OF COURSE I need to have something. I think it turned out very well.
My thoughts about Lofoten, well, it's not ideal for travelers who want to sleep in tents. Do yourself a favor and go there with an RV or something like that. Be prepared to not find any parking places, especially in Henningsvær for example. Reine was also full of people and we only found a free parking spot after six in the evening. Other people were parking along the main road but I wasn't brave like them. I already got stuck once on this trip.
I have to say I prefer southern Norway with its majestic fjords and valleys to Lofoten, but Lofoten definitely has a unique look and so, so many bridges.

Most of my visits here i wish the boats to be facing into the sun, but in this case the light was perfect, love this place, you never know what you are going to find in the way of boat positions water around them, the light plays a big part on this vast sandy beach.
Most of us railfans spend a lot of time dodging lightning bolts and other disasters that the railfan wizard's throw at us. But on a real "Semaphore Sunday" back in 1989, the railfan wizard's decided to play nice and toss us a bonus by running trains on the "wrong" track. Sure helps to get a bonus once in a while, and for better shots at a number of blades. Here we see a Susie-Q eastbound freight rolling against current of traffic, with two B-boats and a Flare handling a D&H "Designated Operators" freight.

I'll give you some time
Whatever you want, you just say the word
We can do the time
Lock away the key, that's what you prefer
I could do this for days
I would run a thousand miles for you
I could do this many ways
I'ma fall fast and die with you
Wanna chase that, goin' crazy
I'm like "Oh my!", but I'm laid back
Gotta save that, time to face facts
If you love me, girl, just say that
I don't wanna leave your mind to wander
I'll surround you, make you feel sure
Got desire to make this right
'Cause every single night I wanna feel your soul
I wanna grow old with you, make the most with you
That's the goal
I wanna grow old with you, make the most with you....
