Exploring the north side of Mono Lake for change, looking for (and not finding) the Black Point Fissures (hint, follow the footprints going up, not around!)
I watched in awe as this cool wave cloud formed during sunset on a stormy summer evening at Mono Lake.
Nestled near Mono Lake, just off Highway 395, this tiny cemetery only has a few hundred buried here.
Mono Lake Cemetery is operated by Mono County Public Works and is fairly well maintained. There are over 270 identifiable graves and about 60 unidentifiable graves The earliest date of death is 1906 although it is not until the 1920s that others are found. The cemetery contains an American Legion Auxilary Memorial with 91 names of veterans. Not all names can be found on tombstones in the cemetery.
To reach this cemetery from Lee Vinning, Mono Co., CA drive 4.3 miles north on Hwy 395 to Cemetery Road, turn east and drive 1.3 miles. The cemetery is on the right or south side of the road, overlooking the lake.
Kainis yang si Pen, di sinabi officemate nya si Reggie, naghirap pa kami hanapin hehehe! Thanks Reggie and to Mono for gracing the event!
Mono are a Japanese instrumental rock band formed in 1999 in Tokyo, Kantō, Honshū. The band consists of Takaakira Goto (electric guitar), Yoda (electric guitar), Tamaki Kunishi (bass guitar, electric guitar, piano, glockenspiel), and Yasunori Takada (drum kit, glockenspiel, synthesizer). The band's style of instrumental rock music is influenced by the genres of experimental rock and shoegazing, as well as by both the classical and contemporary classical periods of classical music, and also by noise and minimalism.
