The modified plate with arm up is one of my least used parts. I cut the arms off the plates because they are so much more useful by themselves and I get extra supply of 1x2 plates.
This was a fireplace that there was no way to get around without using a molding. My goal then was to use the smallest molding possible. Unfortunaly all the molding we had to work with were very big. Not a problem I took the smallest of the moldings and cut it right in half longways. As you can see in the end result I invented a new molding thats half the size and sits perfectly flush against the fireplace.
The lens is removed and a spare eyepiece barrel is attached to the barrel. The tape covers holes made when I removed the microphone and some other parts I didn't need.

While I would love to own one of Gfeller's leather notebook covers, I can't justify the $75 price tag. So I did the next best thing (ie, cheaper diy option) and modified a Writersblok notebook with an interlocking pencil/pen holder. I combined two notebooks, using one of the leftover covers to create extra flaps/pockets and the pen loops.

Crossing the Water of Leith at Slateford is WCRC Class 57 57601 Sheila. The name is unofficial, by all accounts.
57601 started life in 1962 as Brush Type 4 D1759, but never had a name until 1983 when it became known as Thomas Telford. 57601 was, in 2000, the first of the batch of Class 57s to be modified for electric train heating.
