The local bus company had one of these, which they bought in 1967. Although it was a Burglöwe model and not Commodore. Hated by the drivers who were spoiled by Volvos, but always a favourite to watch. Handpainted Brekina model.
Seen these at the Notts Classic Car & Motorcycle Show. The stall had a vast array of model vehicles, books, posters, magazines and more. It was a hive of activity, 2 or 3 deep at times.

Every couple of years, (when my wife is feeling generous), I am allowed to have a little splurge on a special (ridiculously expensive) model car. I have two specials so far, the old 1930 Alfa Romeo roadster I often call Ruby, and the equally beautiful red E-Type Jag.
This beauty is the Ferrari 250 GTO from between 1963 and 1964.
Apologies up front for the fact that you will see quite a few shots of this in coming days (weeks, months). I will probably bore you with many facts and figures about the model and the real car on which it is based, but they are interesting for this old car fanatic and model collector.
This stunning model is made by CMC who include some incredible detail in their models. This one is made of no less than 1841 individual parts, two thirds of which are metal. You will see many of those parts in the next shot. Quite a few of those parts are in the wheels themselves which are machined alloy rims using stainless steel spokes and spoke nipples, along with Dunlop branded real rubber tyres. The fully removable Borrani spinner locking nuts on each wheel even have side dependant left and right hand threads. Interestingly for us Aussies, the die-cast bodywork is made of zinc alloy which is apparently sourced from Australia, quite possibly from Tasmania. The whole model here is just 240mm in length.
Visible in this shot are such delights as the wipers which can be lifted from the windscreen like real ones, and even have real rubber blades. The sliding driver's door windows are fully operational.
More to come!

Here is another car that belongs to my husbands and son's collection, This is a 1917 Reo Touring in 1:18 scale.
Shooting some model cars again and I really enjoy it, if you do it right they can look real at first glance.
This was with my 6 year old son. We had a day in the studio shooting toy cars. This was well worth showing.
This is the car that demonstrated speed in my ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) photo. Here it is, parked. It is 5 inches long, doors open upwards (winged look), all plastic. Nice details.
