Grande Rue, Richelieu, Indre-et-Loire, France.
Richelieu is a French 17th-century model 'new town'. It was built at the order of Cardinal Richelieu (1585–1642), a clergyman, nobleman, and statesman who had spent his youth here and bought the village of his ancestors. He engaged the architect Jacques Lemercier and with the permission of King Louis XIII, he created from scratch a walled town on a grid arrangement, and, enclosing within its volumes the modest home of his childhood, an adjacent palace, the Château de Richelieu.
Construction took place between 1631 and 1642 (the year of the Cardinal's death) and employed around 2000 workers.
The Château de Richelieu was demolished for building materials in 1805. The walled gardens of the Château remain and are open as a public park.

Stacy Jo Schiller was selling cookies and jams at the Gwinn Modeltown Market. She'll have vegetables later in the season. She has a nice van, too. A friend painted it for her. Number 215 in my Women at work album. flic.kr/s/aHsjqiMGLP
This experimental Photoshop edit depicts a miniature-scale model of Leeds railway station!
The 'tilt-shift' lens technique seen here was originally invented for architectural photography, but is now most commonly known for its ability to creatively emulate the effects of small-scale model towns.
A side note: Leeds railway station was built upon a series of vaulted arches spanning the River Aire, which is channeled into a series of parallel tunnels deep below the platforms. The 'Dark Arches', as they have become known, swallowed up 18 million bricks in the course of their construction - a record breaking quantity at the time. Click here to see a video of the hidden subterranean tunnels that lie beneath...
Colours in this one are little enhanced because our eyes are trained for saturated colours :)). Bokeh is untouched.
Some extra views around the model town of Port Sunlight built by Lever Brothers for their adjacent soap factory in the Arts & Crafts style.
Megabus Caetano Levante passes the Belshotmuir Depot whilst displaying service M32 to Newcastle on its destination board.
Within the depot, it passes two Alexander bodied tri-axle Leyland Olympians and a Scania Irizar PB coach parked up. Leaving the depot is a Neoplan Centroliner towing a luggage trailer which can be seen to the left of frame.
No. 3's paintwork is starting to look a bit worn and as of today, the pressure gauge either shows zero or off the scale. It might get some attention when No. 4 finally arrives.

I had intended to run 2 passenger trains, but the 3 compartment green and cream coach (by Coach & Wagon Works) has decided to derail where it never derailed before.

A scale model of 1st Avenue in Whitehorse, as it would have looked in the 1930's. This is part of a much bigger model on display at the Yukon Transportation Museum in Whitehorse, Yukon.
If you happen to be driving the Alaska Highwau and passing through Whitehorse, I would recommend this musuem for its excellent artifacts, displays, and collected histories. It is my favourite Yukon Museum.

Tohoku high level station has separate lines for Shinkansen and slower/commuter trains. The tunnel portals lead to the storage sidings. There is a helicopter rescue in progress on the hillside!
Kansas City's Union Station has a number of tourist-oriented attractions, including the one seen here.
The "Model Railroad Experience" is a large room in the back of the facility which has several really elaborate model railroad exhibits. They're working models, so they've all of the tiny trains busily running round and round on their tracks.
This image shows just a small portion of one of the displays. A lot of work, talent, and creativity went into this, but (1) its seems like one of those horrible/super-unrealistic Thomas Kinkade paintings and (2) I found myself so badly wanting to see major model train wreck, as was done way back on the Addams Family.
Also see my images of Union Station in its entirety for a little more on its history and role in Kansas City's economy and real trains running through Union Station .
