EXPLORED

Grande Rue, Richelieu, Indre-et-Loire, France.

Richelieu was designed as the 'ideal city' of the 17th century, a model 'new town'. It was built at the order of Cardinal Richelieu (1585–1642), who had spent his youth here and bought the village of his ancestors.

Old Richelieu is about 700 meters long by 500 meters wide. It is accessible by three monumental gates; a fourth, dummy gate exists to respect the symmetry of the whole.

The urban plan revolves around two symmetrically arranged places: Place Royale (now Place des Réligieux) and the Place du Cardinal (now Place du Marché), in which are grouped the presbytery, the 'audience' (now the town hall), a covered open market hall (still surviving, with wooden pillars and roof beams) and shops.

The town is the subject of protective measures for its architecture.

Okay guys... seriously.... i know i have been away from flickr for some time now.... so i thought i should be coming back with a story to cheer u up :P

Once Upon a Time in Naran

Some of you, who happen to be on my facebook as well, know about this story already and is pretty old for them now...anyways, September 26, Saturday, opening time for Fiaz Tariq's exhibition 6 p.m. Me and my friend heading towards Modeltown K block, when suddenly around 5, my brother calls and tell me to pack up including the guy sitting next to me(my oldie goldie friend) and that we are heading to Naran :) I am already used to of such trips so wasn't that a hassle... hence, we left everything and we were on motorway around 6:15 p.m... heading straight to Naran non-stop. Reached our hotel right in 12 hours... say September 27, Sunday 6 a.m.... slept for 4 hours, rented a jeep and went to Saif-ul Maluk... spent 4 hours there and experienced 4 weathers every hour.... Cloudy, Rainy, Stormy & Sunny... we experienced snow as well but the magic was happening on the other side of the lake... :(

Around 4, we were back in our hotel... spent some time and took pictures at the river bank, and were on our way back to Lahore around 6 p.m. same day.... stopped over Balakot for the special chappal kababs... around 10 p.m. and were in Lahore around 4 a.m. same night... so in total it took us 34 hours to visit Saiful Maluk to be exact and back : )

Taken with my Olympus C-2100..I only adjusted its levels a bit and applied little sharpness. Background blur is due to 10x zoom and large aperture.

Ok so I saw a photo by MINT ICETEA that made a scene look like something out of a toy model. So I wanted to create something similar, but I also wanted something different. So here it is, a photo taken from a bridge in Ghent, Belgium along the famous warehouse district, if you're ever in Belgium visit Ghent, usually people go to Brussels or Brugge, but Ghent is stunning. Anyway, I obviously did some tone mapping, Only slightly obvious eh? Then I tried to create that model look, by lowering the angle of view and giving you a central plane to focus on with heavy dropping of depth in the foreground and background.

Me, I love the boat on the river.

Now, honestly unless you look at it large, you're not going to be able to appreciate the details, so PLEASE look at it large.

As you can see from my stream in recently, I am trying all sorts of different things.

I decided to make it even littler with my first attempt at "tilt-shift" (or more accurately, "miniature faking,")

Now it looks like a little model town!
