As I have had my Nikon D70s more than 1 year by now,
I have started to think of to upgrade. The D70s is a great camera
but I have taken 42.500 + photos with it by now
(I sincerely hope it'll last for a while more).
Upper row from left;
D40x; 10,2 MP and small (too small for my hands) and it
can't handle AF lenses (the AF-S only)
- no, I don't think so as I wouldn't be able to use all my lenses with AF.
That goes for the fairly new D60 as well and the budget model D40 too.
Next;
D50; a very nice camera but too old and 6,1 MP only (like
my D70s) and starting to be hard to find as new.
It's a little too small for my hands too.
Next;
D70s; my current camera (which fit my hands like gloves).
Too bad there never came a D70x with 8MP - it would be my first choice ;)
Lower row, from left;
D80; 10,2MP and it seems like a very nice camera which
works like and are similar to my D70s
- seems like a good choice, but a little too small for my hands
I think. Perhaps there will be a D80x or D80s in the near future?
Next;
D200, old model which is replaced by D300 by now but still
available (Nikon have it on their web-site still),
10,2MP, big clear viewfinder and about the same size as my D70s
- let's see if they will decrease in price now when the D300 is launched?
With the D200 I can use the exposure meter to ALL Nikon F lenses as well,
and that's a BIG advantage with this camera - there's a lot of
old Nikkors to buy second hand out there and they're GREAT.
The D200 would be my first choice if I can afford it.
Next;
D300; a VERY nice camera in all ways it seems and with
a whopping 12,4MP, live-view, 3 inch LCD-monitor
and many more goodies, but all too expensive for me ;) in the
future perhaps (when the D700 will come ;) )
(all photos are 100% in scale to each other)
